Sin-myo (辛卯, 신묘) is the day pillar (일주 日柱, ilju) of Sin 辛, the Yin Metal Day Master, over Myo 卯, the Rabbit. It holds position 28 in the sixty-pillar cycle (육십갑자 六十甲子, yuksip-gapja). Yin Metal is small, refined metal, and the Rabbit is the soft green wood of mid-spring. Picture a pair of pruning shears in an orchard in April: a light tool among thousands of new shoots, choosing which to cut so the tree bears better fruit.

The image

Metal controls Wood, so the stem rules its branch, and what Metal controls is Wealth. The Rabbit holds only Wood. Its hidden stems (지장간 支藏干, jijanggan) are Gap 甲 Yang Wood for 10 days and Eul 乙 Yin Wood for 20 days. From a Sin Day Master, Gap (甲) is Direct Wealth and Eul (乙) is Indirect Wealth; Eul is the main hidden stem, so the branch reads as Indirect Wealth.

The branch is entirely things to manage, and nothing in it feeds Sin. On the twelve life stages (십이운성 十二運星, sibi-unseong), Sin on Myo is at Severance (절 絶, jeol), the point where a stem has no root of its own. In plain terms, Sin-myo sees more value than it can hold alone, and draws its stamina from other pillars.

The Void (공망 空亡, gongmang) branches are the Horse (午) and the Goat (未).

This pillar is one of those that carry the Yin-Yang Mismatch star (음양차착살 陰陽差錯殺, eumyang-chachak-sal), a traditional marker linked with mismatched timing in family or marriage matters. Many modern readers give it little weight on its own, and schools differ on which pillars it covers.

Character

Sin-myo has an eye for value and an instinct for editing. People with this pillar tend to see quickly what is worth keeping, whether in a budget, a wardrobe, a business plan or a draft. They are often stylish and quick with numbers.

The temperament is lighter and more mobile than most Metal pillars. Sin-myo is curious about many fields at once and comfortable with change. The blind spots follow from the Severance stage and the all-Wealth branch: taking on more than its energy allows, chasing several opportunities at once, and nervous tension when plans stall. Some Sin-myo people also cut too quickly, ending relationships or projects that only needed patience.

Relationships

The spouse palace (배우자궁 配偶者宮, baeujagung) holds Indirect Wealth. In traditional rules for men, Wealth stands for the wife, so this palace is read as a lively, sociable partner who brings activity into the home. For anyone, it suggests that Sin-myo likes a partner with energy and practical sense and enjoys building something together. The caution is that a Wealth branch can make a relationship feel transactional when life is busy, and the Yin-Yang Mismatch star is traditionally read as a reason to be patient about timing.

Traditional pairings: the heaven-and-earth combination (천지합 天地合, cheonjihap) is Byeong-sul (丙戌), and the "heaven strikes, earth clashes" partner (천극지충 天剋地沖, cheongeuk-jichung) is Jeong-yu (丁酉). These are classical patterns, not predictions.

Work and money

Indirect Wealth points to commercial instinct: trading, retail, merchandising, procurement, real estate, freelance consulting, marketing analytics, fashion and design businesses, anything where judging value is the job. Sin-myo often prefers variable income with upside to a fixed salary.

The money pattern can swing. With no root under the Day Master, Sin-myo benefits from a reliable partner, a steady institution or simply a budget rule that keeps reserves aside. The pruning image is a fair guide: fewer, better projects tend to pay more than many half-tended ones.

How Sin-myo differs from the other Sin pillars

Sin-yu (辛酉), Sin-myo's clash partner, sits at Officialdom on pure Metal and is self-sufficient where Sin-myo depends on others. Sin-hae (辛亥) also holds Direct Wealth, but its branch is led by Hurting Officer, so it earns through expression and talent rather than trade. Sin-chuk (辛丑) rests on its Metal storehouse with Indirect Resource and saves, while Sin-myo spends and circulates. Sin-sa (辛巳) is oriented toward rank and position, and Sin-myo toward markets.

Sin-myo in 2026–2030

The year 2026 (Byeong-o 丙午) brings Direct Officer over Seven Killings, and its Byeong stem forms a stem combination (合) with your Sin, often read as being drawn into a formal role, contract or relationship. In 2027 (Jeong-mi 丁未), Seven Killings over Indirect Resource brings pressure balanced by learning. The year 2028 (Mu-sin 戊申) gives Direct Resource over Rob Wealth: welcome support for a rootless pillar, with competition for money. In 2029 (Gi-yu 己酉), Indirect Resource over Friend comes with the Rooster clashing the Rabbit in the spouse palace, a classic sign of movement in home or partnership life. The year 2030 (Gyeong-sul 庚戌) sets Rob Wealth over Direct Resource, and the Dog forms a branch harmony (六合) with the Rabbit, a gentler year for close relationships.

FAQ

What does the Yin-Yang Mismatch star mean for Sin-myo?

It is a traditional star attached to a set of day pillars and linked in older texts with awkward timing in family or marriage matters. Many current practitioners treat it as a minor note and read it only alongside the rest of the chart.

Is Sin-myo good at making money?

Its branch is entirely Wealth, so Sin-myo tends to have a sharp commercial eye. Because the stem sits at Severance, traditional advice is to build reserves and choose projects carefully so that gains last.
