Jeong-mi (丁未) places Jeong, Yin Fire, on Mi, the Earth Goat. It is the 44th pair in the sixty-day cycle (육십갑자 六十甲子, yuksip gapja), following Byeong-o (丙午) and preceding Mu-sin (戊申). The image is a hearth at the end of a long July day: the cooking is done, the embers are banked under ash, and the clay floor around them is still warm. It is fire that has settled into earth and keeps a home running.

The image

Fire produces Earth, so Jeong feeds its branch. But 未 is the hottest, driest Earth branch, full of summer heat, so the flow runs both ways: the branch also keeps the fire alive. The hidden stems (지장간 支藏干, jijanggan) are Jeong (丁) Yin Fire for 9 days, Eul (乙) Yin Wood for 3 days and Gi (己) Yin Earth for 18 days. For a Jeong Day Master (일간 日干, ilgan), Jeong is a Friend, Eul is the Indirect Resource and Gi is the Eating God. Gi is the main stem, so the branch reads as Eating God.

That gives Jeong-mi a self-supporting circuit inside one branch: Wood feeds Fire, Fire feeds Earth. 未 is also the classical storehouse of Wood, the Resource element for Jeong, so reserves of knowledge and support sit underneath the person.

On the twelve life stages (십이운성 十二運星, sibi-unseong), Jeong at 未 is at Cap & Sash (관대 冠帶, gwandae), the stage of coming of age and taking on public dress. Combined with the Friend in the branch, most readers count Jeong-mi as moderately strong.

Stars on this pillar

Jeong-mi carries more named stars than most pillars, and they pull in different directions.

Character

Jeong-mi people are often warm hosts and dependable providers. They like to feed, organise and look after, and they hold a steady temperature: not dazzling, but reliably there. Under the gentle Goat manner sits real firmness, which the Sharp Edge describes well. When pushed past a limit, they can surprise people with how hard they push back.

The blind spots are heat that builds quietly, sentimentality about the past, and a habit of over-giving and then feeling taken for granted.

Relationships

The day branch is the spouse palace (배우자궁 配偶者宮, baeujagung). The Eating God there points to an affectionate, home-loving partnership centred on comfort, food and family. Red Glamour adds attraction, while the Friend hidden in the branch hints that a sibling, friend or rival may be part of the household story. Older texts, reading Sharp Edge and Yin-Yang Mismatch together, advise not rushing marriage.

Traditional notes: Im-o (壬午) is the harmony pillar, with 丁 and 壬 combining and 未 and 午 combining, called 천지합 (天地合, cheonjihap). Gye-chuk (癸丑) is the clash pillar, with 癸 controlling 丁 and 丑 clashing 未, called 천극지충 (天剋地沖, cheongeuk jichung). These describe chemistry, not fate.

Work and money

Jeong-mi suits nurturing and producing work: hospitality, food, caregiving, teaching young people, crafts, interior and event design, community organising, small family businesses. Hidden Pay favours side income and help from mentors. Money tends to come through goodwill and repeat customers rather than one big deal.

FAQ

Which stars does Jeong-mi carry?

Hidden Pay, Sharp Edge (yangin), Red Glamour and Yin-Yang Mismatch. Together they suggest charm, firmness and quiet support, with traditional caution about marriage timing.

Why does 2027 matter for Jeong-mi?

The 2027 year pillar is Jeong-mi itself, so the year repeats the day pillar. Readers expect its own themes to be amplified for that year.

Is Jeong-mi a strong day pillar?

It is usually read as moderately strong: Jeong is at Cap & Sash, and the hot 未 branch holds Fire and Wood alongside its Earth.

Hidden stems in the branch

The Goat branch carries these stems inside it (지장간). Read from the Jeong Day Master, each takes a Ten God role.
