Byeong-sin (丙申) is Byeong, Yang Fire, seated on Sin, the Metal Monkey. It is the 33rd pair in the sixty-day cycle (육십갑자 六十甲子, yuksip gapja), between Eul-mi (乙未) and Jeong-yu (丁酉). Think of the sun at four in the afternoon striking a hillside of exposed ore, or the glass and steel of a trading floor: the light has passed its peak, but it lands on something valuable and makes it gleam. This is a sun that has noticed what the world is worth.

The image

Fire controls Metal, so the Day Master (일간 日干, ilgan) acts on its branch. In Ten God terms, what the self controls is Wealth. The hidden stems (지장간 支藏干, jijanggan) of 申 are Mu (戊) Yang Earth for 7 days, Im (壬) Yang Water for 7 days and Gyeong (庚) Yang Metal for 16 days. From Byeong, Mu is the Eating God, Im is the Seven Killings and Gyeong is the Indirect Wealth. Gyeong is the main stem, so the branch reads as Indirect Wealth: opportunistic money, trade, deals, and a wide social net.

The branch contains a full little economy. The Eating God produces, the Indirect Wealth trades, and the Seven Killings, Water that controls Fire, brings risk and pressure. A Byeong-sin person tends to feel that combination daily: opportunity and threat in the same room.

On the twelve life stages (십이운성 十二運星, sibi-unseong), Byeong at 申 is in Sickness (병 病, byeong). This is a term for declining energy in the cycle, not a health statement. The fire has no root here, and the branch takes energy from it, so most readers count this pillar as needing Wood or Fire elsewhere to handle all the Wealth it sits on. Classical writers call that problem "rich but weak" (재다신약 財多身弱, jaeda sinyak) when the whole chart repeats it.

Character

Byeong-sin people are often quick, sociable and commercially sharp. The Monkey's agility shows in how they read a room, spot an angle and adapt. They usually have many acquaintances and know who can help with what.

Two named stars refine the picture. The Academic Star (문창귀인 文昌貴人) points to clear writing, exams and intelligent presentation. Hidden Pay (암록 暗祿) is a traditional sign of support that arrives quietly: help from unexpected people, or income from a side channel.

Blind spots: they can chase too many deals at once and run out of energy, which the Sickness stage hints at. The Seven Killings inside the branch means risk is never far from reward, and some Byeong-sin people learn this through one overextended bet.

Relationships

The day branch is the spouse palace (배우자궁 配偶者宮, baeujagung). Indirect Wealth there traditionally describes, in a man's chart, an attractive and lively partner and a relationship with plenty of social movement. In any chart it suggests a partner linked to money, business or travel, and a household that is busy rather than quiet. The caution is distraction: a pillar this outward-facing needs deliberate time at home.

Traditional notes: Sin-sa (辛巳) is the harmony pillar, with 丙 and 辛 combining and 申 and 巳 combining, called 천지합 (天地合, cheonjihap). Im-in (壬寅) is the clash pillar, with 壬 controlling 丙 and 寅 clashing 申, called 천극지충 (天剋地沖, cheongeuk jichung). Practitioners use these to discuss chemistry, not to forecast.

Work and money

Byeong-sin is the most commercial of the Byeong pillars. It suits sales, trading, brokerage, marketing, import and export, event and travel businesses, and any job where networking turns into revenue. The Academic Star adds options in writing, consulting and teaching. Income often comes in waves; the practical habit that serves this pillar best is banking a fixed share of each good month.
