Two Sin (辛, Yin Metal) Day Masters are like two gems in one display case. Each notices the other's precision, taste and sensitivity, often within minutes of meeting. The pairing is refined and mutually respectful, and its main question is how two people who both care about how things look and feel share the light.

The elemental dynamic

The relation is the same element and the same polarity: Yin Metal with Yin Metal. Sin is the finished form of Metal: jewellery, fine instruments, a polished blade, frost on a window. It values quality, fairness and being seen accurately. Two Sin stems strengthen each other's Metal, which tends to sharpen shared standards and shared opinions.

Classical writers say Sin shines brightest when rinsed by clear water, especially Im (壬, Yang Water), and that it dislikes being smothered by thick earth or melted by fierce fire. Two Sin people often want the same conditions: clean surroundings, honest feedback delivered gently, and room to work carefully. If neither chart has much Water, the pair can feel brilliant but tense, two polished surfaces with nowhere to let off pressure.

How each sees the other

Each sees the other as Friend (비견, 比肩, bigyeon). Friend is the star of equals: peers, siblings, colleagues of the same rank. It stands for independence, solidarity and self-respect, and it also brings a quiet streak of comparison.

As a mirror pairing, Sin and Sin are especially sensitive to each other's reactions. A raised eyebrow carries weight. You may feel more understood than with anyone else and more easily hurt than with anyone else, for the same reason. What you admire in the other (polish, principles, discretion) is close to what you already value in yourself; what grates is often your own perfectionism seen from outside.

Tradition places Friend among the same-sex peer stars rather than the spouse stars, and some texts say that for a man the peer stars compete with Wealth, his classical wife star. The neutral reading is more practical: two equals, neither with a natural claim to lead. See the Friend page.

Combination or clash

A stem cannot combine with or clash against itself, so there is no 合 (합, hap) and no 沖 (충, chung) between two Sin Day Masters. Two outside connections matter, though:

In love

Thoughtful gestures, good taste and a home that looks considered. Two Sin partners often express care through details rather than declarations. The risks are silent hurt and polite distance: both may wait for the other to apologise first, and both can retreat behind good manners instead of saying what is wrong.

At work

Excellent for design, finance, law, editing, medicine-adjacent precision work and any field where quality is the product. Two Sin colleagues raise each other's standards. They need clear credit lines, since recognition matters to both.

Making it work

Say appreciation out loud, often and specifically. Give feedback the way you would want to receive it. Build in something soft and flowing, whether that is travel, water, music or loose unstructured time, so the relationship has room to breathe.

Day Master compatibility is only one layer. Korean 궁합 (宮合, gunghap) compares the whole charts: each person's day branch (spouse palace), element balance, and luck pillars. Explore other pairs on the compatibility index, or find your Day Master with the free calculator.

FAQ

Are two Sin Day Masters a good match?

They tend to understand and respect each other, since each sees the other as Friend. The common challenge is sensitivity on both sides, which makes direct but gentle communication important.

Do two Sin stems combine?

No. A stem does not combine with itself. Sin combines with Byeong.

What is a contested combination?

It is when two identical stems face one combination partner, such as two Sin and one Byeong. Some practitioners read it as competition for the same thing.
