Byeong (丙) and Byeong (丙) Compatibility in Korean Saju: Two Suns
Two Byeong (丙) Day Masters make a bright, loud, generous pairing. Each recognises the other instantly, and the main question is whether two suns can share one sky without competing for who lights the room.
The elemental dynamic
Both people carry Yang Fire, the stem whose image is the sun. The relation is same element, and with the same polarity on both sides there is no push and pull of Yin against Yang. Nothing is produced, nothing is controlled. Fire simply meets more fire.
In practice that means two people who move at the same speed, talk at the same volume and recover from a bad day on the same schedule. Misunderstandings are rare because neither one hides much. The risk sits on the other side: with no element to cool, ground or channel the heat, a Byeong pair can run hot for long stretches and then both burn out at once.
How each sees the other
In the Ten Gods (십신 十神, sipsin) system, each Byeong sees the other Byeong as Friend (비견 比肩, bigyeon). Friend is the peer star: a sibling, classmate or teammate who stands at your level and wants roughly what you want.
Classically, Friend is neither a spouse star nor a parent star. For a man, the wife star is Direct Wealth; for a woman, the husband star is Direct Officer or Seven Killings. A same-stem partner fills neither slot, so traditional readers describe this as a companion bond more than a "destined spouse" bond. In a neutral reading, Friend means equality. Neither person outranks, mothers or manages the other, and each tends to treat the relationship as a partnership of equals by default.
The shadow of Friend is comparison. Two people who see themselves in each other also see where the other is getting more attention, credit or money. The Friend page covers this in more depth.
Combination or clash
There is no stem combination (천간합 天干合, cheongan-hap) and no stem clash (천간충 天干沖, cheongan-chung) between 丙 and 丙. The stems neither fuse into a new element nor knock against each other. The link is plain resonance: the same note played twice, louder.
In love
Picture a dinner party where both hosts want to tell the best story. A Byeong couple is often fun to be around, socially busy and quick to forgive. Arguments flare and pass like summer storms. What tends to go missing is quiet care: someone needs to notice the small, unglamorous needs, and two suns both prefer the big gesture. Couples who last often split the spotlight on purpose, taking turns as the one who shines and the one who listens.
At work
As co-founders or teammates, two Byeong people generate energy and public presence quickly. Pitches, launches and anything that needs visibility suit them. Budgets, follow-up and detail work suit them less. A third person with Earth or Water qualities, or a clear split of who owns which stage, keeps the pair from both promising the same client two different things.
Making it work
- Give each person a separate area to lead, so the rivalry has somewhere harmless to go.
- Build in rest. Two people who never dim need scheduled downtime together.
- Name the comparison habit out loud when it shows up. Friend energy cools fast once it is spoken.
- Look at the rest of both charts. Day Master compatibility is one layer only. Korean 궁합 (宮合, gunghap) practice compares whole charts: the day branches, which mark the spouse palace, overall element balance and the timing of each person's luck pillars. Two Byeong people with very different day branches can feel quite different together.

FAQ
Are two Byeong Day Masters a good match?
They tend to be warm, open and easy with each other, because each sees the other as Friend. The common strain is competition for attention and a shortage of calm, so the outcome depends heavily on the rest of both charts.
Is a Friend relationship a romantic star in Saju?
Not in the classical sense. Friend is the peer and sibling star, so tradition reads it as companionship, while spouse stars come from Wealth and Officer. Many modern readers treat Friend as a sign of equality, which suits a partnership well.
Does Byeong with Byeong form a combination?
No. Identical stems do not combine or clash. Their link is resonance: the same Yang Fire energy reinforced.
