辛巳 辛丑 庚午 乙酉 · Muhammad Ali (1942–2016)
We put this chart into Orienteller's in-depth reading engine. We gave it no name, no year of birth and no place of birth. We did not say what this person did. Below, the text it produced sits side by side with his public life as the record documents it. Where the reading missed badly, we say so too.
When a Saju reading seems accurate, there are usually two possible reasons. Either it really was accurate, or the reader already knew the answer. Unless the second possibility is ruled out, any comparison that follows means nothing. So we state the conditions of generation first.

Before generating, we searched all 8 prompts for 1942, Louisville,
루이빌, Ali, 알리, Clay, 클레이,
Cassius, 캐시어스, boxing and 권투, and confirmed there
was not a single hit. That is why the reading describes its Luck Pillars by age only, with no years.
We added the years afterwards. The Korean reading does contain the syllables 알리 once, in the
verb 알리다 ("to make known"); the engine wrote that word on its own.
Because the engine did not know the birth year, parts of the reading assume the reader is now in their twenties or thirties and give year-by-year forecasts for 2026 to 2030. We left those passages as they are and did not compare them with anything.
To be clear, this is a post-hoc comparison. We already know his life, and we picked the passages that fit it. It is not a prediction. Section 05 below says more about this limit.
In January 1942 Louisville kept Central Standard Time (CST, UTC−6). The United States put
the whole country on daylight-saving War Time, moving clocks one hour ahead, on 9 February 1942,
three weeks after he was born. So the 18:35 on the birth certificate is standard time with no
daylight saving in it. We also checked that the time zone database entry
America/Kentucky/Louisville returns UTC−6 with zero daylight saving for this date.
Standard time is not local mean time. The reference meridian for Central Standard Time is 90° W, and Louisville lies at 85.77° W, so the sun crosses the meridian there about 17 minutes earlier than at the zone's reference line. On top of that, the equation of time in mid-January is negative, which takes off another 9.5 minutes.
| Step | Time | Shift | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Birth certificate | 1942-01-17 18:35:00 | — | CST (UTC−6) |
| Universal time (UTC) | 1942-01-18 00:35:00 | +6 h | Zone offset removed |
| Local mean time | 1942-01-17 18:51:56 | −343.07 min | Longitude 85.7667° ÷ 15 (+16.93 min vs. the clock) |
| True solar time | 1942-01-17 18:42:26 | −9.50 min | Equation of time (mid-January) |
| 節氣 (solar term) frame | 1942-01-18 08:35:00 | +8 h | For the year and month pillar boundaries |
The net shift from the clock to true solar time is +7.43 minutes. 酉時 runs from 17:00 to 19:00, and the corrected 18:42 is still 酉時. The margin to the next double hour, 戌時, is 17.6 minutes. Had the time been written down 20 minutes late, the hour pillar would change; but this is the time entered on the original birth certificate, and there is no reason to assume that.
The year pillar is 辛巳, not the calendar year 1942's 壬午. The Saju year changes at 立春 (the start of spring), which fell in early February in 1942, so 17 January still belongs to the year that began in 1941. The month pillar is the 丑 month, since the date is after 小寒 (around 6 January). The birth is not in the 23:00 hour, so the question of which day the 子 hour belongs to does not arise.
Below is the text Orienteller's in-depth reading actually produced for this chart, translated from the Korean original. The engine writes in Korean; the translation follows it sentence by sentence and adds nothing. Edits to the Korean original, if any, are limited to the form of address produced by the blank name field and obvious typos; the footer gives the exact count. Only the passages confirmed by the record are left sharp; the rest is hazed. To read the whole text, turn off the switch below.
If your chart were drawn as a single scene, it would be a smithy standing in the middle of a snow-covered winter field. Embers remain in the forge, and every wall is full of freshly forged ironwork. Through a gap, a single thin blade of grass rises up green.
The pillar of your birth year is Sin-Sa (辛巳). Sin (辛), which is Yin Metal (陰金), sits on the Snake (巳). It is the shape of metal finely polished like a jewel, placed on the warm energy of fire. It is very likely that you matured early in childhood and were given chances to learn and to be trained1.
The pillar of your birth month is Sin-Chuk (辛丑). Under Yin Metal Sin (辛) is the Ox (丑). Chuk (丑) is the cold, damp earth at the tail end of winter, so it has an energy that holds metal, cools it and shuts it in heavily. It suggests that the environment of your young adulthood was somewhat heavy and quiet, or that it was a time when you had to hold on while holding your own pace down.
The pillar of the day, which points to you yourself, is Gyeong-O (庚午). Gyeong (庚), which is Yang Metal (陽金), is metal that has not yet been forged: raw iron, a great sword, an axe. The Horse (午) beneath it is the fire of midday. Since the metal has met fire, the structure is one in which it is tempered into a usable tool. This is the backbone of your chart.
The pillar of your birth hour is Eul-Yu (乙酉). Eul (乙), which is Yin Wood (陰木), is on the Rooster (酉). It is the image of a single blade of grass standing on the edge of metal, so it looks fragile. But this very grass is the one thread of living energy that this chart values most. Because the time of birth is confirmed, this reading shows the picture of your later years fairly reliably.
Among the four pillars metal is overwhelmingly abundant, with fire beside it as a tool of tempering and wood as a seed of softness. It is a chart in which a flexibility that has not yet been fully used is hidden inside the impression of a solid, well-ordered person.
The distribution of the five elements is four metal, two fire, one wood and one earth, with no water. Metal (金) is the strongest and water (水) is the emptiest. On top of that, Sa (巳), Yu (酉) and Chuk (丑) gather to form the three-way combination (三合) of metal. It is the shape of scattered metal energy clumped into one mass, so the Day Master (日干) Gyeong metal (庚金) is strong (身強). It is a chart overflowing with its own power.
Overflowing metal has two uses. One is to temper it with fire that pares the metal down, and the other is to give the metal wood to cut. The Useful God (用神) of this chart is wood (木). In a person whose metal is strong, the blade easily turns inward. So there has to be something to send the blade outward toward, that is, something to tend, raise and make, for the energy to come alive. Wood, which stands for wealth and results and for the work of caring for people, plays that role. However, because the Eul wood (乙木) of the hour stem combines (合) with the Day Master and can be pulled toward metal, protecting this grass becomes a lifelong task.
The Luck Pillars run backward and begin at age 5 with Gyeong-Ja (庚子). They continue with Gi-Hae (己亥), Mu-Sul (戊戌), Jeong-Yu (丁酉), Byeong-Sin (丙申), Eul-Mi (乙未) and Gap-O (甲午). In the first two periods of youth, water comes in, wets the dry metal and loosens feelings and talents. However, because Sul (戌) and Hae (亥) are Void (空亡), results may not show up right away in proportion to effort. The Mu-Sul Luck Pillar is a time when earth makes the metal grow even larger, so stubbornness and weight easily become even heavier11. The Jeong-Yu and Byeong-Sin Luck Pillars are times when fire hammers the metal; trials and responsibilities follow, but you are tempered accordingly and your footing becomes firm.
The welcome flow comes with the Eul-Mi and Gap-O Luck Pillars. From the latter part of middle age, the Useful God wood appears in the heavenly stems, and a grain opens in which what you have given and tended comes back as results. It is a chart in which the second half of life becomes softer and richer.
The Gyeong-O (庚午) Day Pillar symbolizes metal being forged by fire. It is like the scene of rough iron, not yet given shape, taking form in the fire of a smithy. So this Day Pillar reads as someone whose innate character is upright and loyal, and who shines more the more they are tempered.
The basic temperament of Gyeong metal (庚金) is decisiveness. Like a blade that divides right from wrong, it cannot endure an ambiguous state for long and wants to draw a line one way or the other. Your speech is direct, and you place great weight on promises and on principle8. When you see lies or a wishy-washy attitude, your heart tends to go cold first.
The day branch (日支) O (午) makes this metal much more three-dimensional. Inside O (午) are hidden Jeong fire (丁火) and Gi earth (己土). Jeong fire is the energy of discipline and responsibility that refines you, and Gi earth is the energy of learning and protection that supports you. So even if you look cool on the outside, there is warm heat inside, and you tend to devote yourself surprisingly warmly to people you have once opened your heart to. It will be common for people who first meet you to say you are dependable but a little hard to approach, and only after knowing you a long time to say you are a deep person.
The task of Gyeong-O is the fire becoming too strong or the metal becoming too hard. Too much fire shows up as impatience, and too much metal as stubbornness. Your firmness is a great asset, but for it to be a blade that opens a path rather than one that cuts someone down, you need the habit of pausing for a beat. If you get into the habit of letting a conclusion sit for a day before you reach it, the accuracy of your judgment rises and the trust of those around you grows thicker.
Your daily life has a grain that likes order and efficiency. People with strong metal generally know where things belong and are uncomfortable when a schedule falls apart. Your desk or workspace tends to need to be tidy for your head to be clear, and when clutter piles up your mind gets noisy.
Your pace is a beat fast. The O (午) fire in the day branch moves the body, so once you make up your mind, you act right away. But because the month branch is Chuk (丑), you also have the persistence to stay a long time once you have settled into a place. You are someone who starts fast and keeps going slowly for a long time.
As for environment, you are comfortable in clear, simple spaces. You prefer places with distinct lines to places with lots of decoration, and places with little noise. This chart has no water and so leans dry, and like metal in dry air, your mind can easily turn rough. Keeping plants nearby, a place with the sound of water, or the greenery of a walking path will be a surprisingly great comfort to you. It amounts to filling in the Useful God wood directly through your surroundings.
What you want to hold in your hands is a sure tool and a reliable skill. You prefer what is useful, and what lasts a lifetime once the body has learned it, to vague sentiment. You very likely have an eye for choosing trustworthy equipment or tools that will last a long time.
On the other hand, two things wear you out. One is relationships and work that drift along ambiguously with no rules. The other is constant emotional labor. Metal has to take heat to be shaped, but if it sits on the fire without rest, it cracks. If you put into your schedule, even once a day, a time when you make nothing at all, your edge stays keen much longer without dulling.
When pressure comes, you are the type who sorts things out and judges first. Even when your feelings are swirling, you try to structure the situation calmly on the surface, and you only feel at ease once you have set the order of what needs to be done. You will often end up in the role of holding the center among people who are shaken by a crisis.
Your decisions tend to be quick and firm. There are strengths and risks here together. The strength is that you open a path without dragging things out. The risk is that this chart has the star of the blade, Sharp Edge (羊刃). Sharp Edge is a star that lends force to great undertakings, but when you get heated your words and actions can become sharper than necessary. Words sent in anger tend to stay long in the other person's memory, so it is better to give important answers after your feelings have cooled.
In conflict, you readily choose to break through head-on10. Rather than talking around things, you want to put the facts and the standards on the table and settle who is right. But conflicts between people often are not resolved by right and wrong alone. If you leave open one exit through which the other person can save face, your rightness comes across far better.
When you read people, you look at actions and consistency more than words. Whether they keep promises and whether they take responsibility are your standards of trust. This eye tends to be accurate, but it comes with a habit of putting people who fall short of the standard outside the line early. If you remember that people have seasons in which they bloom late, more people will remain by your side.
In a year like this one (2026), when the fire of Byeong-O (丙午) comes in fiercely, pressure may feel even more direct. It is wise not to rush big decisions, to look after your body first, and to reduce duties and relationships to a range you can manage.
Looking at the innate grain not yet refined by experience, you are by nature an upright and solid person. Your sense of right and wrong was probably vivid from childhood, and it is very likely that you had a temperament that could not stay still when you saw something unfair9.
It is significant that the year branch Sa (巳) is Long Life (長生) for Gyeong metal and the hour branch Yu (酉) is Emperor (帝旺). It is a structure in which energy rises clearly at the start and climbs highest at the end. As metal, you were born with remarkably sturdy roots. So your staying power, whether physical or mental, is exceptional, and a temperament that does not break easily lies underneath17.
On the other hand, the Tomb (墓) in the month branch speaks of a tendency to store feelings and inner thoughts underground like a grave. It is not that you are bad at expressing them; you just do not bring them out easily. The Bathing (沐浴) in the day branch speaks of curiosity about the opposite sex and the senses, and excitement toward new things. It means that inside a solid exterior there is a rich sensitivity and at times a changeable side. With these two stars overlapping, you easily become someone who is calm on the outside while waves rise inside.
There are also many Noble stars. Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人), Heaven Virtue (天德貴人), Moon Virtue (月德貴人), Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) and others are beside you, so there is a high likelihood of a flow in which unexpected help arrives in hard times or paths open through learning. Hidden Pay (暗祿) is read as a sign that a fortune of making a living follows you without showing.
To sum up your innate temperament in one line, it is a hidden sensitivity within a solid core. If you only suppress this sensitivity, the metal easily goes cold; if you let it flow out in moderation, it turns into a depth that draws people. I recommend having one channel that turns feelings into form, such as writing or music.
Beneath the surface there is a quiet but ceaselessly moving weather. In front of others you try to look stable, but when alone you become a very strict judge of yourself. In a person with strong metal the blade turns inward as well as outward, so you tend to chew over even small mistakes for a long time.
There are two main recurring tensions. The first is a tug-of-war between responsibility and freedom. The Jeong fire (丁火) hidden in O (午) demands discipline and responsibility, while the energy of Bathing (沐浴) wants to drift along lightly. So there may be days when you feel no release even after fulfilling your duties, or when guilt follows even as you enjoy freedom.
The second is the tension between wanting to open your heart and not wanting to show weakness. Because the Tomb (墓) in the month branch makes you bury your inner thoughts deep, you may be clumsy at asking for help precisely when things are hard. Trying to solve everything alone, you may also turn onto a path toward loneliness.
The fact that this is a chart without water also affects the inner weather. Water symbolizes the flow of feeling and flexible wisdom, and when it is empty, feelings easily get blocked or burst out all at once. When your heart feels hard, rather than forcing it to loosen, it is more effective to release it through the body, such as soaking in warm water or walking by the water.
The comfort this chart holds is also clear. The Eul wood (乙木) of the hour stem is a soft vitality that has not yet been broken. If there is a curiosity or tenderness growing in your heart that no one knows about, that is the seed that will become your real strength. If you grow this grass into a small hobby or work of caring, the blade becomes much gentler.
In relationships, you are the type who spends time building trust. At first you keep your distance and watch, but once trust forms you are someone who keeps faith to the end. You prefer a few deep relationships to a large network.
The people drawn to you are generally those looking for a dependable center. People who sway without being able to decide feel stable beside you, and people attracted to an honest and clear attitude gather around. With many Nobles in the chart, connections such as elders or teachers come easily, and in particular the Heavenly Noble of young adulthood speaks of the likelihood that someone will appear to open the way at an important time3.
Your way of keeping distance is a cold silence. When something hurts you, rather than arguing, you tend to close the door of your heart quietly. The other person may feel you suddenly drifted away without knowing why, so if you tell them the reason, even briefly, before stepping back, misunderstandings decrease.
With a lover or someone close, you express your heart through actions more than words. Being there when needed and taking responsibility is your love. But the other person may want to hear it in words. Just making a habit of saying what is in your heart in one sentence a day changes the temperature of the relationship. The Bathing (沐浴) in the day branch also means that your sense of attraction to the opposite sex is alive, so there are periods when you give off charm, and at the same time you need to keep your center so as not to be swayed by emotional ups and downs.
The structure in which the hour stem Eul wood and the Day Master Gyeong metal form a combination (合) can be read as being deeply entwined with close connections, especially a spouse or those below you. Relationships last when you respect the other person's grain without crushing their softness.
Your way of approaching work is that of a specialist who takes responsibility. You dislike doing things carelessly, and you try to bring the work you take on to a finished standard all the way to the end. The Jeong fire inside the day branch O (午) is the energy of the Direct Officer (正官), which in a man's chart means occupation and honor, so there is a side of you well suited to the path of being recognized and building status within the discipline of an organization.
What gets you started is principle and challenge. Your energy rises in front of work whose meaning is clear and work that is hard and therefore worth proving. Conversely, in work repeated for no reason or in environments where standards change often, you easily lose motivation. What makes you finish is a sense of responsibility and pride. Once you promise, your urge to keep it is strong, so you tend to see things through.
This chart overflows with the power of metal, so it goes well with areas that demand precision: technology, work that deals with law and principles, metals and machinery, medicine or precise fields, finance and management. Since the Useful God is wood, adding work that raises people, tends content and educates, or work that makes something grow, brings the energy into even better balance.
The thing to watch is the habit of trying to do everything yourself. A chart with much of the same energy, such as Friend and Rob Wealth, easily mixes collaborators and competitors, so in partnerships or matters involving money it is safest to make contracts and the division of roles clear.
Looking at the flow ahead, 2027, Jeong-Mi (丁未), is a year in which Direct Officer and Direct Resource come in, bringing recognition and accumulated learning. 2028, Mu-Sin (戊申), and 2029, Gi-Yu (己酉), are a period when the foundation becomes solid, a good stretch for unfolding what you have prepared after passing through this year's burden. In 2029, however, the same metal piles up, so you must hold back greed in money and partnerships. It is good to see 2030, Gyeong-Sul (庚戌), as a year to organize the flow once and catch your breath.
First, three strengths.
The first is a solid center and decisiveness. This is metal supported by Emperor (帝旺) in the hour branch and Long Life (長生) in the year branch, so it does not collapse easily in a crisis and becomes the standard when those around you are shaken. The drive to push ahead in a direction once decided is a great asset.
The second is a fortune that calls learning and help to you. With many stars of Nobles and virtue, you tend to find unexpected helpers appearing in hard times, or paths opening through learning. Fortune Star Noble (福星貴人) and Heavenly Blessing Noble (天福貴人) sit in the place of middle age, so there is a high likelihood that life becomes more stable and ample as you age. This fortune works best on top of trust built honestly.
The third is a nature that shines more the more it is tempered. Like metal that has met fire, your use becomes clearer after passing through trials. It is a structure in which today's burdens turn into your own expertise and weight later.
Next, two cautions worth keeping in mind.
One is excessive strength. When metal overflows into stubbornness and sharpness, you can lose people even while saying the right thing. Since this is a chart with Sharp Edge, you need practice in adjusting the level and speed of your words. Saying important things after letting them sit for a day, and making decisions only after hearing from more than one person, are good shields.
The other is the empty water and the suppressed wood. You may bury your feelings until they dry and harden, or the softness of the Eul wood may be pulled into the metal through the combination and be used up. Deliberately put into your schedule time to care for yourself, time to rest in nature and a hobby of tending things. Protecting the weakest single blade of grass protects the balance of the whole chart.
Looking at cold and warmth, you were born in the Chuk month (丑月), as winter deepens, so the base is cool. But with two roots of fire in the year branch Sa (巳) and the day branch O (午), the inside is relatively warm. Since the structure is cool outside and hot inside, imbalances easily arise, such as cold hands and feet while the face or chest flushes.
Looking at dryness and moisture, there is not a single drop of water, and metal and fire dominate, so overall it leans toward the dry side. The month branch Chuk (丑) is moist earth, but it only works to nourish the metal and does not quench the thirst. In charts like this the skin, throat and respiratory system dry out easily, and the mind can also lose its moisture and become sensitive and stiff. This is likely to stand out especially in a year of strong incoming fire such as Byeong-O (丙午), that is, a time like this year.
The habits you can practice are simple. First, drink plenty of fluids, and make slowly drinking lukewarm water in the morning or evening a daily ritual. For food, moist and mild things such as pear, bellflower root, barley, seaweed and tofu are better than spicy and greasy things. Adding green vegetables, sprouts and sour fruit fills in the energy of the Useful God wood as well.
In your surroundings, create a space that is well humidified, and keep living plants on your desk or by the window. If you had to pick one season, time spent walking forest paths or by the water on rainy days in late spring and early summer is good. In winter, soak in warm water so your body does not stiffen, and get enough sleep.
These small habits soothe the dryness of the metal and soften the impatience of the fire. If you keep practicing them in the spirit of placing a water jar and a flowerpot beside the smithy, the solid you will shine softly for much longer.
The sound that rings loudest in your chart is Rob Wealth (劫財). 辛 stands side by side in the year stem and the month stem, and the same energy lies under the hour branch 酉 as well, so it is the shape of 'people who resemble me' standing around the Day Master (日干) 庚 in three layers. On top of this, 巳, 丑 and 酉 are bound into the three-way combination (三合) of metal (金), so the metal energy comes to four. It is a strong (身強) structure in which the whole chart feels like a forest of hard iron. Such a person tends to have clear standards and will of their own and cannot long endure having things decided for them by others7.
The quiet ones are the Officer stars (官星), Resource stars (印星) and Wealth stars (財星). The Direct Officer (正官, the 丁 inside 午) and Seven Killings (偏官, the 丙 inside 巳) are hidden deep in the branches like embers. The Direct Resource (正印, the 己 inside 丑 and 午) does not show on the surface either. The Wealth star is just one Direct Wealth (正財), the 乙 of the hour stem (時干), standing alone like a thin blade of grass. Eating God (食神) and Hurting Officer (傷官) are not on the surface. Water (水) is not visible; only a faint trace is left deep in the winter earth storehouse (丑).
The person this combination makes is drawn like this. The inside is full of power, but the outlet (Output stars) to release it outward is narrow. The fire (Officer stars) that would refine the power is hidden, and the wealth (Wealth stars) that would create a use for it is thin. It is the image of raw steel waiting for a smithy. This is also why the Useful God (用神) is wood (木), that is, the Wealth stars. The chart breathes when the overflowing power of metal is carried over into concrete work and results.
The prescription is simple. Do not pile thoughts up inside; deliberately create 'channels for bringing out', such as work done with writing, speech or the hands. And choose places where results accumulate steadily rather than places of measuring up and competing. The same power becomes an asset in a place where it accumulates and is easily spent in a place where it competes.
Within a group, you often take the place of 'the one who says little, but is missed when absent'. A chart with strong Rob Wealth has a deep sense of comradeship. Once you decide someone is on your side, you keep faith to the end, and your strength comes out best when you work shoulder to shoulder with people who share the same goal. The General Star (將星殺) in the hour branch adds an energy of command to this. If you are pushed to step forward, you tend to do surprisingly well at the role of setting up the game and establishing standards.
The day branch 午 is the Direct Officer and also the place of the Year Star (年殺), which corresponds to Peach Blossom (桃花). So you have both uprightness and a subtle charm. You value rules and courtesy but are not merely stiff, so you tend to win trust even at a first meeting. The Canopy Star (華蓋殺) in the month branch 丑 is an energy in the opposite direction. Even among many people, one corner of your mind is contemplative, like someone sitting alone in a study. So when a gathering runs long, there are moments you suddenly want to slip away quietly, and that is not strange; it is your way of recharging.
The stage where you shine is a place where standards are clear and skill becomes reputation. Professions, the world of technique and craftsmanship, being the hands-on person in charge in an organization, and disciplined team activities suit you well. Conversely, in places where standards are vague and people jockey for advantage, your edge easily sharpens.
The thing to be careful of is the Sharp Edge (羊刃) in the hour branch. It is an energy like a well-honed blade, so if you throw the right words only rightly, they can remain as wounds for the other person. Say important things a beat later, and try placing one sentence about the other person's position before your conclusion. That alone makes your solidity read not as intimidation but as dependability.
In a man's chart, the Wealth stars point to wife and father, the Resource stars to mother, the Companions to siblings, and the Officer stars to children. Let us read your family map through this frame.
Indirect Wealth (偏財), which stands for the father, does not appear on the surface. The tie with the father tends to continue from a step's distance rather than through jostling up close. He may have been someone who supported you in a quiet way, or there may have been physical distance. Direct Resource (正印), which stands for the mother, is hidden as 己 inside 丑 and 午. It is the picture of a mother who quietly supports from beside you rather than stepping forward to look after you. However, in a chart already overflowing with metal, too much care can instead feed dependence or stubbornness, so it is better to receive your mother's heart gratefully but make decisions yourself.
With siblings and close friends, because there is much Rob Wealth, the ties are deep and many. You care for one another, but it is a structure easily tangled over money and resources. Do not let affection lead you into guarantees, partnerships or lending money; draw the line in writing. That is the way to protect the relationships.
Children are spoken of by the Seven Killings and Direct Officer hidden in the branches. Children tend to come as beings who awaken responsibility and discipline in you, and because the hour pillar, the palace of children, is strong, there is a possibility the relationship will grow into a reliable one later.
Direct Wealth, which stands for the wife, is the single 乙 of the hour stem, and it is drawn to the Day Master through the 乙庚 combination. It is a structure in which the star of connection reaches its hand out toward you. However, Rob Wealth sits beneath it, so if you share money and heart with those around you, your spouse may feel hurt. Talk household money matters through openly and decide them together.
The first sense people feel beside you is an unshaken center. Someone with strong Rob Wealth and Friend energy gives the impression of keeping what they have said even without leading with words. Cold but transparent, like the clear color of iron on a winter morning, it gives people a sense of relief beside you: 'I don't have to pretend in front of this person.' Add the uprightness of the Direct Officer in the day branch, and you easily become the first person who comes to mind when someone needs to lean on another in a crisis.
The second is a subtle charm. The day branch 午 has Peach Blossom energy, and on top of it Noble stars such as Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人), Heaven Virtue (天德貴人) and Moon Virtue (月德貴人) overlap. Dignity shows in your speech and manner, so the goodwill you draw is not rough and lasts long. With the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) in the year pillar there is also an intellectual air, so even when you say little you often look like 'someone who knows something deeply'.
The third is the tension created by the General Star and Sharp Edge. Even when you are still, you raise the expectation that if given a task you will carry it through. So people lean on you without hesitation, and sometimes load you with more than necessary.
There is a way to keep this charm for a long time. First, practice receiving help. If you always stand only on the giving side, the relationship loses its balance. Second, when you make a sharp judgment, add a warm word. Just as metal meets fire and becomes a tool, people follow you more deeply when your solidity meets their warmth. Third, do not feel sorry about time alone. The stillness of the Canopy Star is one axis of your charm.
The year pillar 辛巳 has Rob Wealth in the heavenly stem and Seven Killings (偏官) in the earthly branch, and its Twelve Life Stage is Long Life (長生). If the childhood environment were drawn as one scene, it would be a home where you grow up sharing and measuring resources against peers or siblings while expectations or discipline press subtly from above. Rob Wealth gives a sense of competition and sharing in childhood, and Seven Killings gives an energy that teaches responsibility early. It is the shape of soft metal placed near the fire, so the heat is felt, but that heat was also the time that tempered you.
Long Life is the stage of a sprout breaking through, meaning cleverness and the power of growth were there from early on. It is also a welcome sign that the Hall of Learning and Hidden Pay (暗祿) are together in this pillar. It is very likely that your sense for learning opened early and that there was help supporting you without being noticed. If you have memories of parents who did not cheer you on loudly but provided what was needed when it was needed, that may be the result of this Hidden Pay.
The values that sank into you then can be summed up in three: 'I do my own share', 'promises and fairness must be kept', and 'learning must be useful'. These became lifelong assets, but at the same time they may also have planted a pressure that you must prove yourself rather than be praised. If you still feel uneasy during rest as an adult, the root lies here.
As a prescription, say to your childhood self, at least once, "You did well enough." It may seem trivial, but it works. In Saju the past does not change, but your attitude toward the past can change now. The tempering of the year pillar can remain as a wound or as capital, and the moment you acknowledge yourself, it tilts toward capital.
The month pillar 辛丑 has Rob Wealth in the heavenly stem and Direct Resource (正印) in the earthly branch, and its Twelve Life Stage is Tomb (墓). Young adulthood is the period when occupation, training and peer groups form. With Direct Resource sitting on Rob Wealth, your social life takes the shape of 'settling into a place among colleagues on the same road, with help from teachers and learning'. The month branch 丑 holds the Heavenly Noble, so you are likely to meet a senior or teacher who guides you at decisive moments4. However, Tomb is the place where things are put into the storehouse, so rather than showing right away, ability tends to accumulate inside and shine late. That is why you easily become impatient when peers seem to dash ahead first.
丑 is the frozen ground of deep winter, so the energy of the month branch is cold. So in this period you tend to compete with caution rather than passion, and accuracy rather than speed. With the Canopy Star overlapping as well, it is good for standing out in fields where you dig in alone, such as specialized techniques, research, art, writing and in-depth study. In terms of Luck Pillars, there is a flow in which water comes in during the 己亥 luck around age 15, and the storehouse of fire opens in the 戊戌 luck from the mid-twenties on. It is a time when the blocked outlet of expression opens and the Officer stars wake up, so your career path tends to take concrete shape then.
The thing to watch is the fact that colleagues in the same industry are also competitors. When Rob Wealth overlaps, it is easy to compete over the same pie, so it is advantageous to narrow down your own field of expertise early rather than staying in the thick of fierce competition. If you have met a good teacher, do not take them lightly; keep them near for a long time. Also, do not just pile things up in the storehouse; make a habit of putting even small results out into the world. The power of the Tomb is a power that is only used when it opens.
The day pillar 庚午 is your own place. The heavenly stem is the Day Master itself, the earthly branch holds the Direct Officer (正官) 丁, and the Twelve Life Stage is Bathing (沐浴). In the classics it is said that 庚金 becomes a useful tool only when it meets 丁火. Your middle age is the time when rough iron enters the smithy. The fire of responsibility, relationships and social reputation hammers you into shape. So in this period you win your place through uprightness and trustworthiness, and because the Direct Officer sits in the spouse's place, a connection with norms and dignity tends to shape you into neatness.
The day pillar gathers Heaven Virtue, Moon Virtue, Heavenly Blessing Noble (天福貴人) and Fortune Star Noble (福星貴人). It means there is a cushioning power so that even when a crisis comes, you are not badly broken. If you have experienced someone reaching out a hand or things unexpectedly working out even after a big mistake, it may well be owing to this virtue.
However, Bathing is the state of having taken off one's clothes to wash, so it is a place where feelings show and the heart sways easily. The month branch 丑 and day branch 午 are in an uncomfortable relationship (harm, 害), so the part of you that values work and social roles may clash subtly with your inner emotions. The moment you are neat on the outside but grow sensitive inside is exactly that. When conflict arises, do not block it with pride; leave it for about a day and then talk.
The flow of the Luck Pillars also helps. From the mid-thirties, with the 丁酉 and 丙申 lucks, fire rises into the heavenly stems and the Officer stars show on the surface, so from then on recognition and positions tend to become visible. The core task of middle age is to endure the tempering without driving yourself too hard. If the fire is too strong even metal softens, so set a regular rhythm of rest.
The hour pillar 乙酉 has Direct Wealth in the heavenly stem and Rob Wealth in the earthly branch, and its Twelve Life Stage is Emperor (帝旺), the most auspicious. Because the time of birth is confirmed, this pillar can be read as it is. In your later years, rather than your strength fading, you are pictured standing firm. With the General Star there too, as you age you are very likely to rise to the position of an elder who sets standards for juniors and disciples. However, Sharp Edge is also in the same place, so refining your words so they do not grow sharp, as strong as your power is, continues as a lifelong task.
In the hour pillar, the palace of children, the Officer stars that stand for children are hidden. The relationship with children is not noisy but deepens on the basis of responsibility and trust. Juniors or disciples you keep near and teach for a long time also tend to follow you in a similar way. What you will pass on is not so much property as a way of working, an attitude of keeping promises, and a habit of building fundamentals as one forges iron.
The 乙 in the heavenly stem is wood, the Useful God, and also a Wealth star. It means the star of wealth and results sits in your later years, but with Rob Wealth spread beneath it, what you have gathered easily scatters to those around you. Draw a line early in money dealings with siblings, relatives and close friends, and if there is an inheritance or gift, settle it clearly in writing. As the Luck Pillars flow into 乙未 after age 55 and 甲午 after age 65, results tend to become visible when wood energy comes in.
One thing to know is that no separate Noble appears in the hour pillar. In later years, rather than waiting for outside help, the connections you built when young and the skills you honed yourself become a reliable fence. So start now to slowly save up the trust you extend to people.
Nine auspicious stars gather in your chart, and there is only one inauspicious star. The nine are the Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人), Heaven Virtue (天德貴人), Moon Virtue (月德貴人), Heaven Virtue Combination (天德合), Moon Virtue Combination (月德合), Hall of Learning (學堂貴人), Heavenly Blessing Noble (天福貴人), Fortune Star Noble (福星貴人), and Hidden Pay (暗祿). Unpacked, their names mean people who reach out a hand in a crisis, a virtue that lets you sidestep major setbacks, and stability in learning and in earning a living. A chart with this many noble stars is not common. This does not mean life is easy. It means only that, even at a dead end, there is a tendency for someone to open a door or for an unexpected detour to appear.
The inauspicious star is a single Sharp Edge (羊刃). Your Day Master (日干), Gyeong metal (庚金), is sharpened metal, and that blade sits on the Yu (酉) of your hour pillar. On top of that, there are as many as four metal (金) elements in the whole chart, so you are strong (身強). A well-honed blade does work with precision, but when it has nowhere to be used, it cuts the people beside it. The remedy is simple. When you need to say something harsh, let it sit for a day before bringing it out. It helps to grind the edge down a little every day through exercise that uses the body or work made with your hands. In spring, the season of wood (木), the blade is used to trim trees, so it is the most comfortable time of the year for you.
Among the twelve spirit stars, you have the Land Star (地殺), Canopy Star (華蓋殺), Year Star (年殺, Peach Blossom), and General Star (將星殺). The strength to set up a new base, a temperament that digs deep alone, a charm that draws people, and the drive to stand in front and lead are all evenly contained in one chart.
Your Void (空亡) branches are Sul (戌) and Hae (亥), and these characters do not appear in the four pillars of your natal chart. So your stars are not worn down by the Void, and the strength of your noble stars stays fully alive. However, when Gi-Hae (己亥) and Mu-Sul (戊戌) arrive as Luck Pillars (大運), these are periods of passing through the empty seats. At those times it is better not to rush decisions that are hard to undo, such as a major contract or a move, and to check once more.
The Hall of Learning and Hidden Pay sit in your year pillar, Sin-Sa (辛巳). The Hall of Learning is the star of the desk. From a young age your heart goes toward learning, and you tend to keep what you have once understood for a long timeM3. Hidden Pay is a blessing that does not show on the surface. Even if your parents or family did not give loudly, it often appears as quiet support for basics like meals and school fees. It is closer to a table set at the moment you need it than to a showy gift.
Your year branch, Sa (巳), is Long Life (長生) among the Twelve Life Stages (十二運星). It is the place where a sprout is just coming up, so the energy of your childhood was clear, and it is read as a good foundation for body and mind to grow. The Land Star (地殺) is also in this pillar. Rather than staying in one place for long, changes of environment or new starts are likely to come early. Changing schools, moving house, or being thrown into an unfamiliar group probably did not remain only as anxiety. If anything, you learned early the sense of settling into an unfamiliar place.
However, the Sin metal (辛金) of your year pillar and the Gyeong metal inside the Sa fire (巳火) are both metal, so even at a young age you may have been firm inside and stubborn. To adults you were likely seen as a child who spoke little and did not easily give in. Looking back now, there is something worth remembering. The "I will handle it alone" way you absorbed back then is a strength, but asking for help is something you need to practice consciously even as an adult. In a chart with many noble stars, those stars only start to move when you know how to receive help.
The Heavenly Noble sits in your month pillar, Sin-Chuk (辛丑). With the most representative noble star placed in the position of young adulthood, you tend to meet seniors, bosses, or teachers who guide you when you first step into society. The Canopy Star (華蓋殺) also comes with your month branch, Chuk (丑). The Canopy is a star like a covered treasure jar, and it gives talent in fields where you dig deep alone for a long time, such as scholarship, technical skill, religion, or art. But among the Twelve Life Stages it corresponds to Tomb (墓), so your strength is stored inward as if put away in a storehouse. In your early to mid-twenties, outside recognition may come slowly compared with your effortM1. It is more accurate to read the frustration of this period as a maturing period, not a lack of ability.
The Sa, Chuk, and Yu (巳·丑·酉) of your month, year, and hour pillars form a metal formation (金局), which makes the metal energy grow even more. Because of this, in young adulthood your judgment is razor-fast, but in return you are likely to clash often with those around you. Even if you meet a good noble person, if you insist only on your own way, the connection does not last long. I recommend the habit of actually trying at least one thing from the advice you hear within three days of hearing it.
In terms of Luck Pillars, Gi-Hae (己亥), Mu-Sul (戊戌), and Jeong-Yu (丁酉) fall in this period. In earth Luck Pillars, the already strong metal tends to get even thicker, so move your body and try your hand at new fields to release that energy. In your mid-thirties, the Jeong-Yu Luck Pillar opens a period when fire tempers metal. It is likely that only then does your refined usefulness come to light.
Your day pillar, Gyeong-O (庚午), is the place where the stars are most densely packed in this chart. Heaven Virtue, Moon Virtue, Heavenly Blessing Noble, and Fortune Star Noble are gathered all at once. This means that a virtue that spares you great harm in a crisis, an energy that receives and enjoys blessings, and a strength that guards your peace sit at the center of your middle age. In particular, when stars like these sit in the spouse position, you tend to meet a generous partner with a big heart, or to find balance in life thanks to close relationships.
However, the Twelve Life Stage of this position is Bathing (沐浴), and your day branch, O (午), carries the Year Star (年殺), that is, the energy of Peach Blossom. You have charm and draw the eyes of others and the opposite sex, but moments of emotional ups and downs or a wavering heart come along with it. It happens because people like you, so it is nothing to hide. Still, set your lines in places where the threshold is low, such as late-night meetups, drinking occasions, and messages sent when emotions run ahead. Conversations with your spouse are far more effective when built up in ordinary times than after a problem arises.
Physically, metal is excessive and water is absent, so please watch areas related to dryness, such as the lungs, bronchi, skin, and large intestine. Drinking enough water, keeping indoor air from getting dry, and exercise that deepens your breathing all help. The O fire (午火) is a flame heating metal right in the middle, so when you overwork, heat tends to rise upward.
In work, your Useful God (用神) is wood (木). Blocked energy is released when you put your strength into raising people, nurturing ideas, and expanding work. I recommend that the focus of your middle age be work that makes something grow, rather than work where you sharpen your edge alone.
There is no noble star attached to your hour pillar, Eul-Yu (乙酉). This means your later years are a time to stand on what you have built yourself rather than wait for someone to rescue you, and if anything, this makes the character of the hour pillar clearer. Its Twelve Life Stage is Emperor (帝旺), so it is in the place where energy is at its fullest, and with the General Star (將星殺) overlapping as well, your influence tends not to shrink as you age. The picture is of juniors, children, or students using your judgment as their standard. It is highly likely that roles as an adviser, leader, or mentor will naturally follow even after retirement23.
On the other hand, this pillar holds the Sharp Edge (羊刃). It is as if a sharpened blade has been placed in a spot full of strength, so as you age you may lean toward hardened stubbornness or harsher words. This is where close children or juniors come to close the doors of their hearts. The remedy is "praise first, criticize only once." The habit of attaching one question to the end of a conversation also helps round off the edge. Keeping wood energy close, as with a hobby like tending a garden or working with wood, is also good.
The hour stem (時干), Eul wood (乙木), is the character that forms a combination (合) with your Day Master, Gyeong metal. It is the image of a soft vine winding around sharpened metal, and a clue that rough energy turns into tenderness in your later years. Your Luck Pillars also continue into Eul-Mi (乙未) and Gap-O (甲午), bringing in wood energy. Since this is a period when your Useful God gains strength, from your mid-fifties your heart is likely to have more room, and you are likely to finally do the things you have wanted to do. If you leave what you have built then through actions and records rather than words, the places you have passed through will carry on for a long time.
With Gyeong metal (庚金) as your Day Master (日干), your learning fortune draws a curve of "a solid foundation early, ripening in the middle, full bloom later." Your chart gathers as many as four metal (金) elements, so the Day Master is very strong. Like well-honed iron, you are sharp, and the focus that never lets go of what you have taken hold of is an inborn asset. On the other hand, too much metal does not bend easily, so the flexibility to accept other people's ways becomes the key to your learning.
There are many good stars along the path of learning. Hall of Learning (學堂貴人), Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人), Heaven Virtue (天德貴人) and Moon Virtue (月德貴人) stand in a row. In particular, Hall of Learning and Hidden Pay (暗祿) sit in the pillar of your childhood, so it is highly likely that you had a deep connection with books and teaching when you were young. These noble stars also support the tendency for a teacher or senior to appear and help whenever you get stuck as an adult.
Still, the flow should not be read in only one direction. Since there is no water (水) at all, the power to unfold what you have learned smoothly and let it flow does not arise on its own. You need the habit of writing it down and explaining it out loud so that what you study does not stay in your head only as a hard lump. Picture a hard rock placed on dry ground. If you just open a path for the rain to seep in, a deep spring can actually rise between those rocks.
Your Useful God (用神) is wood (木). Wood is both the material and the direction that shapes metal into a useful tool. In other words, your fortune opens widest when learning does not stop at "knowing" but leads to "use." This chart runs much better when you set the purpose of learning on a concrete result.
The temperament of strong metal (金) is drawn to precision, rules and structure. Your sharpness is put to best use in fields where the standards are clear and the logic interlocks, such as law, accounting, engineering, medicine, programming and finance. The more clearly an area draws the line between right and wrong answers, the more at ease you will feel and the faster you will move.
That does not mean the door to the humanities or the arts is closed. Eul wood (乙木) sits in your Hour Pillar (時柱), and this Eul wood is exactly your Useful God. The soft, emotional energy of wood, like a thin vine, pulls you, if late, toward the humanities, writing, design and education. One interesting point is that the deeper your study goes, the more likely your interest in this softer direction is to grow. A natural path is to start in technical and specialist areas when young, then widen after middle age into teaching people or organizing things in writing.
The presence of the Canopy Star (華蓋殺) is also worth noting. Canopy is the star of solitary, deep study, philosophy, religion and artistic immersion. Thanks to this star, you can stay quietly and for a long time with subjects that others find boring. It goes well with research jobs, the craftsman (匠人) line of work and occupations that require professional qualifications.
On the other hand, in activities centered on improvised presentations, or in fields where you bump into things freely without rules, you are likely to feel awkward at first. When that happens, do not conclude that it is your weakness; understand it as "the place where water is lacking." Simply joining a discussion group or a writing class once or twice on purpose improves the balance a great deal.
Focus and endurance are strengths of this chart. With a strong Day Master and four metal elements, you have the stamina and stubbornness not to be shaken easily once you sit down at your desk. However, in saju, endurance in study is read through the Resource stars (印星) and the Officer stars (官星) together. The Resource stars are the vessel that receives learning, and the Officer stars are the frame that disciplines yourself.
In your case there is only one earth (土), and even that is buried inside Chuk earth (丑土), so the support of the Resource stars is quiet but clear. From the principle that earth gives birth to metal, this Resource adds more to metal that is already overflowing, so your task is "digesting" rather than "taking in more." The Officer stars correspond to fire (火); there are two of them among the five elements, but their force is relatively weak compared with your strong metal. So when discipline pressing from outside is given, you actually focus well, and if it is left only to yourself, there is a risk that things will fizzle out.
The Tomb (墓) in your Month Pillar (月柱) is an energy that is slow but stores deeply. Knowledge you have learned once lasts a long time, but it may take time to get started. The Bathing (沐浴) in your Day Branch (日支) points to periods when your mind gets restless or your interest gets scattered, so at those times it is good to make your environment simple.
The prescription is simple. Set your study hours in advance, and hang an outside frame on them, such as a study-group appointment or a deadline. The Emperor (帝旺) in your Hour Pillar means that focus and stamina actually grow stronger toward the later part of life, so it is good to remember that starting late is never too late.
Your exam fortune is the stable type, "recognized as much as you have prepared." Because you have Hall of Learning, your ability tends to show fairly honestly in the exam hall, and because Heavenly Noble is in the pillar of your young adulthood, you are likely to meet helpful people or information at important moments. However, Academic Star (文昌貴人) does not appear separately in this chart, so steady accumulation suits you better than approaching things lightly on talent alone.
Let us also look at the current flow. 2026 is a Byeong-O (丙午) year, with Seven Killings (偏官) coming in the heavens and Direct Officer (正官) on the earth. Since it is a year when Officer stars overlap, the pressure of exams and evaluations grows, and body and mind can tire somewhat easily. The Twelve Life Stage is also Bathing, so your condition can be up and down. Since it is now October 2026, it is better to find meaning in strengthening the basics rather than rushing to produce results within this year.
2027, a Jeong-Mi (丁未) year, is a flow in which Direct Officer and Direct Resource (正印) come together, very favorable for qualifications and passing. Officer (官) means qualifications and positions, and Resource (印) means documents and passing, so it would be good to aim at registering for an exam in that year and use this year as the preparation period. 2028, a Mu-Sin (戊申) year, and 2029, a Gi-Yu (己酉) year, continue the strong energy of Prosperity and Emperor, the stretch where your ability shows most solidly. If you need another attempt, this period becomes a reliable support.
The point to watch is Sharp Edge (羊刃). Sharp Edge is a blade that is too keen, and it can show up as edginess right before an exam or as excessive self-confidence. On the day before an exam, rather than adding new material, skimming your wrong-answer notebook once and sleeping enough is the way to manage the blade.
Your Luck Pillars (大運) run backward, starting from Gyeong-Ja (庚子) and continuing to Gi-Hae (己亥), Mu-Sul (戊戌), Jeong-Yu (丁酉), Byeong-Sin (丙申), Eul-Mi (乙未) and Gap-O (甲午). Let us point out the stretches in this flow where the rewards of learning are greatest.
The most noticeable times are the Byeong-Sin (丙申) Luck Pillar starting at age 45 and the Eul-Mi (乙未) Luck Pillar from age 55. In the Eul-Mi Luck Pillar after 55 in particular, wood, your Useful God, rises into the Heavenly Stems. Since it is a Luck Pillar that meets use, study started late in life, a second career or teaching work may bear great fruit. The Gap-O (甲午) Luck Pillar from age 65 is also a flow in which Gap wood (甲木) comes, so it reads as a period in which the joy of lifelong learning continues.
The early Gyeong-Ja (庚子) and Gi-Hae (己亥) Luck Pillars mix metal and water, a time when the sense for taking in knowledge comes alive and curiosity is active. The Gi-Hae Luck Pillar from age 15 fills the lacking water with Hae water (亥水), so it would have been an important period for growing expressiveness and flexibility in your studies. However, Hae (亥) is a character that falls in Void (空亡), so its force may be empty, and in this period the learning gained from the process may have remained larger than the results.
The Mu-Sul (戊戌) Luck Pillar from age 25 and the Jeong-Yu (丁酉) Luck Pillar from age 35 pile up earth and metal again and again, a stretch where learning can easily feel somewhat heavy and stagnant. In return, the experience and expertise built in this period become the foundation for the later Luck Pillars.
The method that suits you best is "digging deep alone, with a mentor or an outside frame beside you." The immersion of the Canopy Star and the stubbornness of the Day Master shine when you study alone. But because there is too much metal, if left alone you can get trapped in your own way, so regular check-ins with a teacher-like figure, which Heavenly Noble and Heaven Virtue symbolize, help a great deal.
Specifically, I recommend this setup. On weekdays, immerse yourself alone at set times, and once a week, take time to explain what you have learned to a mentor or a study partner. The act of explaining is itself what fills in the lacking water energy. It is like opening a waterway in dry ground.
Apprenticeship-style learning, that is, learning by doing things yourself beside a practitioner, also suits you well. Wood, your Useful God, is the energy that makes and refines tools, so efficiency grows in a repeated structure of "learn and use it right away." Rather than cramming theory all at once, try applying it immediately to small projects.
As for environment, a space with wood energy helps. A desk with plants, wooden furniture and blue-toned accessories give subtle support. The east direction and spring mornings are also good times to borrow the power of your Useful God.
Methods better avoided are passively listening only to large-scale lectures, or overheated competitive groups. If the sharpness of Sharp Edge spreads into comparison or the urge to win, the joy of learning can shrink.
Periods when your studies waver generally come from two flows. The first is a period when more metal piles up, and the second is a Bathing (沐浴) period when the mind gets restless.
In Luck Pillars or years when metal piles up, stubbornness grows and flexibility shrinks, so it is easy to stagnate while rejecting new methods. The Mu-Sul Luck Pillar from age 25 and the Jeong-Yu Luck Pillar from age 35 can carry this tendency, and 2030, a Gyeong-Sul (庚戌) year, is also a year when the same metal as your Day Master comes again and your energy declines, so it is better to slow down. At such times, rather than taking on new fields, put your effort into organizing and reviewing what you have already built. Treat it as time to rest and refine your shape, like reheating iron in the fire.
The 2026 Byeong-O year also falls into this. Direct Officer and Seven Killings come in together so outside demands increase, and your Day Branch touches Bathing so your mind scatters easily. If you are going through this period now, cut down your goals and focus on one or two things a day. I recommend using the rest of this year not for a big exam but as time to build basic strength for 2027.
There are three effective prescriptions when you waver. First, break your study time into short blocks and keep a rhythm. Second, tell someone you trust how you are progressing. The help of noble people works when you ask for it. Third, move your body. A walk or light exercise is the most practical way to open a waterway through blocked metal.
Wavering is less a sign of failure than a sign that it is time to change your method. Every Luck Pillar has ups and downs, and your chart in particular is a structure that gains strength toward the later part of life.
For you, study is not decoration but closer to the central axis of life. That is because you have this many auspicious stars, your energy rises toward the later part of life, and your Useful God is wood, so the path of "learning and using" is itself the path that opens your fortune. Hall of Learning, Heaven Virtue, Moon Virtue, Heaven Virtue Combination and Moon Virtue Combination are all stars that in some form aid learning and virtue, so it is natural for you to build trust and status through learning.
However, this centrality comes from "use" rather than from degrees or credentials. Study becomes your fortune only at the moment you explain what you know to people, apply it to work and pass it on to juniors. Just as iron gains its worth only when it becomes a tool, knowledge comes alive when it is used.
One more thing to remember is that this chart is a late-blooming structure. The curve drawn by the Emperor in your Hour Pillar and the later Eul-Mi and Gap-O Luck Pillars points toward "the older you get, the deeper and more enjoyable learning becomes." Even if you cannot pick up speed or feel you are taking the long way around in your younger days, do not be impatient. That time is time in which things are being stored.
Finally, for you, learning is not a lonely road but a road walked with noble people. The moment you know how to bow your head and ask questions, the stars of this chart light up most brightly. I recommend making study your lifelong companion.
Your Day Master (日干) is Gyeong metal (庚金). It is an energy close to steel that has not yet been refined, or a great axe. Metal (金) takes four of the eight characters in your chart, so the power to judge, to discern, and to cut off and tie up is the central talent of this chart. When work is messy, you have an eye for sorting out what is core and what is superfluous, and that eye tends to lead into logic and accuracy.
The Sin metal (辛金) sitting side by side in your Year and Month Pillars is like a thin blade used for precision machining. Since a sense for fine finishing is layered on top of an axe that cuts the big frame, your strength shows in work where a one-character error changes the result, such as numbers, clauses, drawings and code. Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) sits in the early-life position, which also supports a temperament that enjoys learning itself. Once you dig into a field, you tend to go deep.
The O fire (午火) in your Day Branch (日支) is Direct Officer (正官). Your blade is not one swung at will, but one that shines when it is tempered in the fire of rules and responsibility. Inside structures with pressure, such as an organization's standards, the threshold of a qualification or a verification procedure, your ability actually grows more solid. Since your Day Branch is Bathing (沐浴), you may look hard on the outside but have a sensitive inner sensibility. That sensibility sometimes comes out as persistence about quality.
The Eul wood (乙木) in your Hour Stem (時干) is Direct Wealth (正財). It forms the Eul-Gyeong combination (乙庚合) with your Day Master, so there is a link in which your output turns directly into income. It is a structure in which, when you make something precisely and put it out, the reward follows. Just as steel forged over fire becomes a tool with a name, your talent is used most brightly in the area of verification and finishing.
This chart has an overflow of metal and no water (水). Water is the Output stars (食傷), the channel of expression that unfolds things in speech and writing. Your ability is sufficient, but the path for explaining and making it known is narrow, so what you know inside may be valued less on the outsideM2. The first key to turning it into results is expression. I recommend the habit of writing the conclusion in the first line of a report, speaking first at least once in a meeting, and leaving a written record of your work. Just as dry iron gets its edge when water is applied, the same ability is conveyed much more sharply once expression is added.
Your Useful God (用神) is wood (木). Wood is the Wealth stars (財星), the area of concrete output and clients. Do not stay only with knowledge; choose work that reaches visible fruit such as clients, sales, passing an exam or delivery. However, the Eul wood in your Hour Stem is a young stem with shallow roots. If you rush it, it breaks; if you grow it slowly, it grows. Patience is your greatest resource.
The Mu-Sul (戊戌) Luck Pillar you are passing through now is a situation in which earth covers metal, so you may get the feeling of "too much earth buries the metal" (土多金埋), that is, of being buried12. It is a period in which study and preparation drag on and you keep postponing decisions. At such times, instead of vague preparation, set concrete goals that light a fire, such as an exam date, a submission deadline or a project deadline. Time-limited pressure is actually what moves you.
You have plenty of power to dig deep alone, so what you lack are colleagues who carry water and wood energy. Pairing with a partner who is flexible in speech and good at connecting people increases your scale. Habits that bring you close to water and wood, such as walking, swimming and forest trails, also loosen blocked energy.
You are closer to the organization and specialist type, who builds expertise inside an organization, than to a freelancer or a founder. That is because Indirect Wealth and the Output stars, the fuel of starting a business, are weak, while the frame of Direct Officer and the Resource stars is solid. Among realistic Korean tracks, I first recommend the certification and licensed-profession type. The Direct Officer in your Day Branch, backed by the Direct Resource (正印) of Chuk earth (丑土) in your Month Branch, fits a structure of crossing the thresholds of exams and qualifications. The secondary track is the large-company and affiliate type. The Seven Killings (偏官) inside Sa fire (巳火) creates pressure to grow within an organization. However, Travelling Horse (驛馬), which invites frequent job changes, is not distinct, so building depth in one organization is more favorable than moving around.
What stands out in the placement of noble stars is the Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人) in the Month Pillar position. Heavenly Noble for Gyeong metal falls on Chuk (丑) and Mi (未), so it may work as help from seniors born in the year of the Ox or the Goat. They are the type of senior who is calm and conservative rather than flashy, and who knows the practical work inside out. The Month Pillar corresponds to the period of entering society, from the mid-20s to the early 30s. Seniors you meet in this period often open the way for you.
The early-life position has Hall of Learning and Hidden Pay (暗祿), so the help you get from school seniors and juniors, professors, study partners and certification groups is large. Heaven Virtue (天德貴人), Moon Virtue (月德貴人), Heavenly Blessing Noble (天福貴人) and Fortune Star Noble (福星貴人) in the Day Pillar position mean that the people closest to your daily life, such as your closest peers, teammates and spouse, act as a buffer in a crisis. Rather than giving big, conspicuous help, they are closer to quietly shielding you when you are in trouble.
Translated to Korean organizations, a diagonal mentor is more decisive than your official direct reporting line. It is like a senior in another department, a former mentor at a previous job, a senior in a graduate school lab, or a working professional met in an outside certification study group showing you the way. Even if your relationship with your direct boss is ordinary, one person met on the diagonal can hand you job-change information or exam tips. The habit of asking questions first and clearly leaving a word of thanks keeps these connections going for a long time.
There is no noble star in the Hour Pillar position. Do not read this as weak fortune in old age, but as a sign that as you get older you shift from the receiving side to the nurturing side. Teaching juniors and organizing industry groups directly creates your own noble-star position.
Let us translate the clashes (沖), punishments (刑) and harms (害) in your chart into zodiac signs. The clearest is the Rat. The Ja-O clash (子午沖) hits the O fire in your Day Branch, so you are likely to butt heads with a Rat boss or colleague from the first impression. However, this clash also acts as a stimulus that changes both of you, so if you build trust through results, they can unexpectedly become a strong collaborator. With the Pig, there is the Sa-Hae clash (巳亥沖) with the Sa fire in your Year Branch, so your directions diverge. If work priorities differ, friction easily arises over small things. With the Rabbit, there is the Myo-Yu clash (卯酉沖) with Yu metal (酉金) in your Hour Branch and also the Myo-O break (卯午破) with your Day Branch, so even if things look soft on the surface, you tend to diverge in how you work.
The Ox and the Goat are a bit more complex. Both are noble stars, but with the Ox there is the Chuk-O harm (丑午害) with your Day Branch, so hurt feelings easily build up inside the help, and with the Goat there is the Chuk-Mi clash (丑未沖) with your Month Branch, so goodwill may go back and forth and then directions split. The Tiger and the Dog carry an energy that forms a three-way combination (寅午戌) with O, so they are generally comfortable. The Rooster is comfortable because it is the same metal, but with the O-Yu break (午酉破) and the Yu-Yu self-punishment (酉酉自刑), you may clash as competitors in the same field.
The more realistic obstacle is a peer with similar credentials. The Sin metal in your Year and Month Pillars is Rob Wealth (劫財), so it is likely to show up as a colleague doing the same work who shares in or takes your results15. With Sharp Edge also present, competitive spirit on both sides can clash strongly16.
The prescription is simple. Leave important work instructions in messenger or email, and divide roles for joint results in writing. On days when your emotions rise, delay your reply by a day. It is especially better to avoid guaranteeing loans, business partnerships and personal money dealings.
You are now in the Mu-Sul Luck Pillar (from around age 25 to 34). It is a time when earth covers metal, so there is frustration, but Sul earth (戌土) also forms a half combination (半合) with the O fire in your Day Branch and kindles fire. It is a useful period for preparing for exams and qualifications and building field experience. See it as ten years of preparation rather than a big transitionM5.
Looking year by year, 2027 Jeong-Mi (丁未) is the most useful. Direct Officer and Direct Resource come in together, a year when passing an exam, a promotion and job-change offers may overlap. It is smooth with your Day Branch through the O-Mi combination (午未合), but there is the Chuk-Mi clash with your Month Branch, so a move of department or position is likely to follow. Do not avoid the change; welcome it as a good move. 2028 Mu-Sin (戊申) and 2029 Gi-Yu (己酉) are the most auspicious in terms of energy, but they are years when metal piles up further. I recommend firming up substance rather than expanding or starting a business. 2030 Gyeong-Sul (庚戌) is a year when your strength drains, so plan it as a year to rest.
Looking in ten-year units, the Jeong-Yu (丁酉) Luck Pillar from age 35 is the peak of your Officer fortune. It is a time when Jeong fire (丁火) rises in the Heavenly Stems, so chances for promotion to team leader or manager come. The Byeong-Sin (丙申) Luck Pillar from age 45 is a period when responsibility and pressure grow. The Eul-Mi (乙未) Luck Pillar from age 55 is when wood, your Useful God, comes in. It is the period when wealth, a second career and the possibility of independence open most, so if you start a business, this time suits it better. The Gap-O (甲午) Luck Pillar from age 65 brings Indirect Wealth and Direct Officer together and becomes the basis of a stable later life26.
The nearest hurdle is this year, 2026 Byeong-O (丙午). Seven Killings (偏官) in the Heavenly Stem and Direct Officer in the Earthly Branch come in together, a year when the Officer stars are mixed. The O-O self-punishment (午午自刑) and the Chuk-O harm overlap and the life stage is also Bathing, so your mind is easily shaken. Things like performance review meetings, team reorganizations or a contract not being renewed are likely to break out in the year-end personnel season. If this year you experience an urge to quit, an atmosphere pushing you toward resignation, or notice of a department reassignment, it may be the influence of this flow. At such times, avoid quitting on impulse and use it as a preparation period toward next year. The fortune for passing and promotion in 2027 follows soon after.
Over a longer span, after age thirty-five, in the Jeong-Yu Luck Pillar, the energy of Rob Wealth and Sharp Edge grows strong. Typical cases are missing a promotion by being pushed aside by a peer in the promotion race, or conflict over your position when returning from leave. At such times, instead of reacting emotionally, keeping your performance records in order becomes your shield. For reference, the Samjae (三災) for the Sa-Yu-Chuk (巳酉丑) signs falls from 2031 to 2033, so it is not within the coming five-year forecast window.
The basic stance in difficult times is learning rather than just holding on. Save an emergency fund of 3–6 months, and open up about your current situation to a diagonal mentor outside your industry. Because metal energy is excessive, your respiratory system and skin can easily become sensitive, so take care with water intake and regular exercise too. If iron waits without bending when it is hottest in the fire, it becomes the hardest tool.
In your first Luck Pillar, Gyeong metal (庚) enters the heavenly stem and adds a force identical to your Day Master, that is, a Friend (比肩). Your year and month pillars already hold two Sin metals (辛), so this lays one more layer of peer energy on a chart where the metal is already thick. The Ja water (子) in the earthly branch is the water of the Hurting Officer (傷官), and among the Twelve Life Stages it falls on Death (死). The name sounds heavy, but in practice it is the first door through which water, absent from your chart, comes in. This water becomes a channel that cools the overflowing metal and releases it as talent.
The Ja (子) branch clashes head-on with the O fire (午) of your day branch, the Ja-O clash (子午沖), while at the same time joining hands with the Chuk earth (丑) of your month branch in the Ja-Chuk combination (子丑合). When a clash and a combination act at once, the edge of the clash tends to be somewhat dulled. Even so, there may well have been a change in the home environment at some point, such as a move, a school transfer, or a shift in a family member's position. As a child, you likely grew up competitive, quick to read a room, and inclined to express yourself first through words and your body.
What to watch for is rivalry with peers and the minor injuries that come from rough play. It is also a period when, once your stubbornness collides with someone else's, you do not easily back down. What you can lean on are paths that let your flair out: physical activity, speaking, and music2. Just as flowing water finds its way between rocks, if this energy is guided in one direction, the sharpness of this period turns into talent. Ages 1–4 come before the first Luck Pillar begins, so your parents' charts have a greater influence then.
The attitude for these ten years is "let it flow before you collide."
Gi earth (己) is the Direct Resource (正印), the earth of learning and protection. It is welcome earth for a weak fire, but in a strong metal chart it also works to feed the metal further, so while your learning deepens, your thinking can easily harden. The Hae water (亥) in the earthly branch is the Eating God (食神). The Im water (壬) inside it gently drains the metal's force, and the Gap wood (甲) is Indirect Wealth (偏財), becoming a seed of wood, your Useful God (用神). This Luck Pillar brings in both the water and the wood your chart lacks, so it is a decade in which you can breathe more freely.
The Hae (亥) branch forms the Sa-Hae clash (巳亥沖) with the Sa fire (巳) of your year branch. This is the image of your childhood ground and ancestral seat being shaken, and it may show up as moving on to further schooling, studying abroad, or changing where you live5. However, Hae falls within the Void (空亡) of Sul (戌) and Hae (亥), so even if the clash sounds loud, its actual impact tends to shrink like an echo.
The theme of this period is the union of Resource and Eating God. You can expect a youth spent reading, making, and expressing a great deal6. What to watch for is wavering, with your direction in study and career changing again and again, and seasonal changes that make the metal organs, such as the bronchi and skin, more sensitive. What you can lean on is one good teacher, a steady habit of writing or creating, and the courage to set off once for somewhere new. Like a stream watering a young stem, give your learning water, but do not rush to prune the branches.
The attitude for these ten years is "learn broadly and decide late."
Mu earth (戊) is the Indirect Resource (偏印), a thick and rough earth. Sul earth (戌) also has Mu earth as its main qi, so it too is Indirect Resource, and it holds within it the Rob Wealth of Sin metal (辛) and the Direct Officer of Jeong fire (丁). Earth piles up in layers on a chart where metal already overflows, so this is a period in which your resources grow but your body grows heavy. Knowledge, qualifications, and backers follow, but your movements may become sluggish.
The Sul (戌) branch forms the Chuk-Sul punishment (丑戌刑) with the Chuk earth of your month branch and the Yu-Sul harm (酉戌害) with the Yu metal (酉) of your hour branch. With the O fire of your day branch it forms a half-assembled fire frame (半火局), feeding the spark of work and responsibility. The foundations of work and home may grind against each other, and there may be misunderstandings with people you trusted, or delays to your plans. However, Sul is also Void, so the edge of the punishment and harm tends to be softened by one layer.
The theme of this decade is establishing your place under pressure from the Resource and Officer stars14. What to watch for is the habit of putting off starting because "more preparation is needed," and contests of stubbornness with superiors. What you can lean on is a professional qualification or depth in one field, and the advice of a trustworthy mentor. Under heavy earth the metal cannot shine, but if you dig into the ground and cut a path, the vein of ore opens up. It is safer to put people matters in writing and to let big decisions sit for a season.
The attitude for these ten years is "build up heavily, but move slowly."
Jeong fire (丁) is the Direct Officer (正官), the fire of a smithy that heats iron and forges it into a blade. The Yu metal (酉) in the earthly branch is Rob Wealth and also the Sharp Edge (羊刃), and for your Day Master it is the position of Emperor (帝旺). One more Yu metal enters a chart that already has the Sa-Yu-Chuk (巳酉丑) metal frame, and the momentum of metal reaches its peak. It is the decade in which your strength is greatest and also the decade in which you are sharpestM6.
Jeong fire strikes the Sin metals of your year and month stems in the Jeong-Sin clash (丁辛沖), and the Yu metal is the same as your hour branch, carrying a hint of self-punishment (自刑), and it also sits uneasily with the O fire of your day branch. You may feel as though the values and family order of your childhood are overturned once. On the other hand, Jeong fire is the fire that refines metal, so if you take on this pressure as responsibility and title, it can also be a period in which you make a name within an organization.
What to watch for are disputes with business partners or competitors, conflicts involving money21, accidents involving blades, machinery, and roads, and the possibility of surgery. The Sharp Edge becomes a sword or a wound depending on who wields it. What you can lean on are roles with clear discipline, structures that share responsibility, and the habit of releasing strength through physical exercise. The more speed you pick up, the more you should leave a day before signing.
The attitude for these ten years is "keep the blade in its sheath and draw it only when you work."
Byeong fire (丙) is Seven Killings (偏官), a great fire like sunlight. The Sin metal (申) in the earthly branch is a Friend, identical to your Day Master, and the position of Prosperity (建祿). In this Luck Pillar, water that has long been missing from your chart opens up in two layers. Byeong fire forms water with the Sin metals of your year and month stems through the Byeong-Sin combination (丙辛合), and the Sin (申) branch forms water with the Sa fire through the Sa-Sin combination (巳申合). A combination binds, so the water does not flow right away, but a board that was rigid loosens toward flexibility.
The collision in the previous Luck Pillar, where Jeong fire struck Sin metal, turns this time into a combination, so pressure tends to arrive in the form of promises, responsibilities, and relationships. On the other hand, the nature of punishment (刑) is also mixed in between Sa and Sin, so good connections can become troublesome entanglements. The Sin (申) branch calls in yet another competitor, so care is needed in sharing your position with colleagues.
The theme of this decade is the Officer star and the Friend, that is, authority and colleagues. What to watch for is the overwork that comes as responsibility grows, money held in joint names, and loopholes in contracts. What you can lean on are roles that lead teams and develop people, and decisions to flexibly change your line of work or your base. Just as a frozen river thaws in spring, setting down even one rigid way of doing things can change the flow. For your health, check your lungs, large intestine, and skin every season.
The attitude for these ten years is "share the load and go together."
Eul wood (乙) is Direct Wealth (正財), and this is the Luck Pillar in which wood, your Useful God, rises in the heavenly stem. The Mi earth (未) in the earthly branch is Direct Resource, a storehouse of wood holding Eul wood, Jeong fire, and Gi earth inside it. The wood you lacked gains roots, making this the decade in which the energy of wealth and ease is clearest. Together with the Eul wood of your hour stem, this Eul wood reaches toward your Gyeong metal Day Master in the Eul-Gyeong combination (乙庚合). It is the image of two Eul woods competing over one person, so opportunities and offers increase, but choosing may become harder.
The Mi (未) branch blends warmly with the O fire of your day branch in the O-Mi combination (午未合), a flow in which body and mind grow comfortable. On the other hand, it forms the Chuk-Mi clash (丑未沖) with the Chuk earth of your month branch, shaking up once the ground you have lived on, your sibling relationships, and the base of your work. It is also common for the closed storehouse of Chuk earth to open, so that old things get sorted out or hidden assets come to light.
What to watch for is fatigue in the digestive system, spleen, and stomach, and spreading yourself too wide in the face of wealth. What you can lean on is organizing the experience you have built up over a long time and teaching and sharing it25, a stable income structure, and the path of growing a hobby into work. Like sweet rain falling on dry trees, this is likely to be a period in which your efforts so far come back to you as fruit. But the more abundant the fruit, the more you should take only one person's share and let the rest flow on.
The attitude for these ten years is "harvest but share, choose but do not delay."
Gap wood (甲) is Indirect Wealth, and the O fire (午) in the earthly branch is Direct Officer. Wood, your Useful God, stands tall, but Gap wood triggers the Gap-Gyeong clash (甲庚沖) with your Gyeong metal Day Master. It is the image of an axe striking a great tree, so although wealth moves, it is tricky to hold onto, and results may feel slow compared to the effort. Also, because wood feeds fire in this structure, the O fire grows even fiercer.
This O fire meets the O fire of your day branch in self-punishment (自刑), sits uneasily with the Yu metal of your hour branch in the O-Yu break (午酉破), and lies close to the Sa fire of your year branch, so the forces of fire gather strongly. For your Day Master, O fire is the position of Bathing (沐浴), so your mind is easily shaken. Distance from your spouse, your health, and your daily rhythm may become sensitive. In a chart lacking water, overlapping fire amounts to a long season of dryness and heat.
The theme of this decade is regulating wealth and the Officer star. What to watch for is blood pressure, heart, sleep, eye strain, and the desire to grab hold of all your remaining work at once. What you can lean on is choosing to reduce the quantity of work and raise its quality, the habit of walking by water or along forest paths, and a life in which you drink plenty of water. Staying close to people who cool your heat is also a great help. The wisdom of this time lies less in stoking the fire than in the skill of banking it.
The attitude for these ten years is "subtract in order to last."
Gye water (癸) is the Hurting Officer (傷官), a fine rain falling on parched ground. This is the Luck Pillar in which water, long missing, appears in the heavenly stem for the first time. The Sa fire (巳) in the earthly branch is Seven Killings, but for your Day Master it is the position of Long Life (長生), and it is the same as the Sa fire of your year branch, as if the first seat of your youth were lit once more. The Sa-Yu-Chuk metal frame also becomes firmer. It is a period in which the strength of the body lessens but the roots of the mind deepen.
Gye water carries the energy of the Gye-Jeong clash (癸丁沖), touching the Jeong fire inside the O fire, so your emotions may suddenly flare up and cool down. Where fire and water meet, steam rises, so hurt feelings easily leak out through your tone of voice. Sa fire holds Byeong fire and Gyeong metal, so even if you have stamina, your lungs, heart, and circulation may weaken.
The theme of this decade is expression, remembrance, and leaving things behind. What to watch for is the habit of brooding over hurtful words, excessive stubbornness, and respiratory health with the changes of season. What you can lean on is telling stories, leaving records in writing or photographs, and conversations with young people. Just as a fine rain soaks the ground, if you do not try to teach but simply tell from beside them, your words will last a long time.
The attitude for these ten years is "speak gently, record at length."
Reading the eight Luck Pillars together, your chart, overflowing with metal and empty of water, traces a curve: early on it looks for a channel to release its sharp strength (Gyeong-Ja, Gi-Hae), in the middle it tempers that strength into responsibility (Mu-Sul, Jeong-Yu, Byeong-Sin), and in the later years wood and water, your Useful God, finally find their place. The brightest decade is the Eul-Mi Luck Pillar at ages 55–6424. Wood, your Useful God, gains roots, wealth and ease arrive together, and with the O-Mi combination your heart is also likely to grow warm. The decade that needs the most care is the Jeong-Yu Luck Pillar at ages 35–44. It is when the momentum of metal peaks and the Sharp Edge doubles up, so the greater your strength, the more you need the restraint to look first to your words, your contracts, and your body. After that, in the Gap-O Luck Pillar at ages 65–74, a life that cools the heat of fire is important. After age 85, the Im-Jin Luck Pillar follows, bringing in water and earth together, as if a chart that has run for a long time finally reaches a deep lake where it can rest. A Luck Pillar is not a verdict but weather. Choosing the clothes that suit the season is always up to you.
Your Day Master (日干) is Gyeong metal (庚金), an energy like a great axe forged by hammering iron, or ore embedded in rock. On top of this, four of the eight characters in your chart are metal (金), and Sa, Yu, and Chuk (巳酉丑) gather together to form even a three-way combination (三合) of metal. So you come across as someone who is solid inside and has clear standards. You tend to sort right from wrong, correct from incorrect, quickly in your mind, and once you draw a line, you do not easily take it back. Even if you do not look shaken on the outside, you could be called someone who is always checking things on the inside.
However, when there is this much metal, your inner weather leans toward clear and dry. Water (水) does not appear in your chart, so the channel through which feelings soak in and flow out may be narrow. Your heart is deep, but it takes a long time to put it into words, and it is common for feelings to be swallowed inside in the meantime and then harden coldly. It is similar to how a lump of iron grows colder on a winter morning.
Still, there is a spark. The O fire (午火) of your day branch holds the warmth of the Direct Officer (正官), so you carry inside a warm temperature of responsibility and self-discipline. On top of this, the Eul wood (乙木) of your hour pillar forms a combination (合) with your Day Master, so in front of what you keep close and cherish, there come moments when your hard shell loosens. Your sense of security generally comes from consistent routines and a few people you can trust.
As a practice, I recommend that once a day you say aloud or write down even one or two sentences about what you felt. It is a habit of deliberately opening the channel of water (水). Iron takes a better edge when it is quenched in water.
This chart is structured to respond more comfortably to a path with a clear framework of precepts and practice19 than to a fervent faith swept along by emotion. Gyeong metal is the energy of principle and loyalty, and a metal-centered chart with many Friends and Rob Wealth tends to believe only what it has verified and been convinced of itself. Rather than believing because someone tells you to, you could be called someone who opens your heart only after trying it with your body and finding that it makes sense.
The makeup of your noble stars supports this as well. You have Heaven Virtue (天德貴人) and Moon Virtue (月德貴人), along with the Heaven Virtue Combination (天德合) and Moon Virtue Combination (月德合) that assist them. It is an arrangement in which you easily feel you received unexpected help or protection in difficult moments. For people like this, spirituality often opens through the felt sense that "I am being protected" rather than through doctrine. Given that you have the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人), depth comes when you approach it by studying scriptures and teachings.
It is also worth noting that the Canopy Star (華蓋殺) sits in Chuk (丑), your month branch. A contemplative spirituality that recharges you when you sit alone in stillness, that is, a contemplative and intellectual path, suits you well. Meditation traditions like Zen (禪) or Vipassana, or traditions with a strongly philosophical character, can seep in without strain.
There is one thing to be careful of. When metal is excessive, the hardness of "what I know is the truth" can close the door to spirituality. Whatever the tradition, I recommend setting judgment aside for a few months and simply following along. It is not too late to conclude that it does not fit after that. Yours is not a chart that must belong to one tradition, so an attitude of picking and using what fits is perfectly healthy too.
Your chart rests best in hobbies that use the head and hands together. Gyeong metal is an energy of refining and sharpening, so you gain satisfaction from work whose results pile up before your eyes. Precise handwork suits you well: crafts like carving wood or working leather, repairing watches or fountain pens, sharpening knives, or caring for musical instruments. Like a blacksmith hammering iron, your mind settles within repeated motions.
The Emperor (帝旺) in your hour pillar means your energy becomes strongest in the later part of life. As you age, more than when you were young, a hobby can become as deep as your main work. In other words, it is not too late to start something now.
On the physical side, disciplined exercise is better than intense competitive sportsM4. You have the Sharp Edge (羊刃), a temperament that pours out strength all at once, so exercise centered on posture and breathing, such as martial arts, kendo, or climbing, keeps that edge safely in check. Sports fixated on winning may actually increase your tension.
Bringing wood (木), your Useful God, into daily life is also a good approach. Growing plants, walking forest paths, woodworking, and gardening are typical examples. When there is living wood beside dry iron, the temperature of the chart becomes much softer. Slow afternoons spent in a library or bookstore also fit the grain of the Hall of Learning.
What you would do well to avoid is rest that consists of nothing but consuming in front of a screen all day. That kind of rest often lets the body rest without refilling your energy.
The position of the Output stars (食傷), which shows the channel of creativity, does not appear in your chart. This means it is not a structure in which words and expression overflow on their own. That does not mean you lack talent. Creativity in this chart is closer to "carving to completion" than to "pouring out." It is the sculptor's way of removing the unnecessary parts from rough stone to reveal a form.
So in writing, firmly structured pieces suit you better than spontaneous essays: logical essays, analysis, criticism, and compressed forms like poetry. Your strength lies in putting force into a single line and clearing away the excess18. The combination of Moon Virtue and the Hall of Learning supports the ability to learn and organize, so you also have a talent for editing and polishing what others have written.
The Peach Blossom (桃花) in your day branch and the Eul wood in your hour pillar are clues to your aesthetic sense. Peach Blossom means a charm that draws people in and a sensory taste. Eul wood has the grain of soft flowers and vines, so your sense may come alive in visual work with delicate lines, photography, design, and decorating spaces. The point where metal's angular temperament meets Eul wood's flexibility is your own distinctive character.
In music, instruments are better for you than singing. You are likely to find great achievement in instruments that require precision, such as string instruments or keyboards. Stage performance may require training, but in structured performances such as prepared presentations or lectures, your presence can be surprisingly strong13.
If you want to open the floodgates of expression, it is good to write a few lines every day of writing that is not evaluated, such as a diary or notes. It is a way of cutting a small waterway where there is no water (水).
The direction in which this chart most wants to grow is "from hardness to flexibility." For a strong Gyeong metal, the Useful God is wood (木). Wood is the energy of the Wealth stars (財星), meaning the ability to use the strength you have stored up in the world and connect it to people and work. This is not a chart blocked for lack of strength, but a chart that has so much strength it must find somewhere to use it. Growth happens less in what more you acquire than in where you put out what you have.
Long Life (長生) in youth speaks of an innate eagerness for learning, and Bathing (沐浴) in middle age speaks of a period when emotions and relationships are shaken and washed anew. Tomb (墓) in your month branch indicates a tendency in early adulthood and the prime years to shut yourself in and store things up, and the task is to use this not as a closed storehouse but as a cellar that ages things well. After that comes the Emperor (帝旺) of the later years, a structure in which what has accumulated inside turns into strength as time goes on.
Concretely, I recommend three directions. First, reduce the habit of trying to solve everything alone, and practice collaboration and delegation. Second, do not press your standard of perfection onto others. If the blade is too sharp, it is hard for people to stay beside you. Third, move into roles of teaching and sharing. For someone with Heaven Virtue and Moon Virtue, blessings return more greatly when they are used in the way of giving22.
Growth tends to accelerate when your luck passes through seasons of wood (木) and water (水). In such periods, boldly open the door to new study or new relationships. Conversely, in periods when more metal accumulates, maintenance and rest are better than forced expansion.
The deepest root of conflict is a configuration in which metal is excessive and water is empty. The judge in your mind is very strong, but there is too little emotional lubrication to soften those judgments. So the voice saying "it has to be this way" and the voice saying "actually, I'm exhausted" collide inside, and conflict easily builds up behind a calm exterior.
The position of O (午) in your day branch also deserves attention. It is in a harm (害) relationship with Chuk (丑) in your month branch and a break (破) relationship with Yu (酉) in your hour branch. This tends to show up as a pattern in which hurt feelings quietly build up with people close to you or at home, and small cracks form in relationships you trusted. Rather than a big collision, it works like hairline cracks, so it is hard to notice, and its characteristic is that it makes you brood for a long time. The Sharp Edge (羊刃) adds an edge to this, contributing a tendency for your words to turn sharp when you are angry.
Meanwhile, the Void (空亡) does not fall within your chart, so the anxiety that an empty seat brings is not great. This is a clear strength. This is a chart in which conflict comes from excess rather than lack.
The direction of healing is "subtracting and letting things flow." When you are hurt, put it into words to at least one person within a day or two. If you keep tempering it inside for a long time, it does not become strong; it hardens. The habit of taking one breath before making a judgment and summing up the other person's circumstances in one sentence also helps. Bringing the sense of water (水) into daily life, like walking by water or soaking your body in warm water, is also a good approach. Even if conflict does not disappear, its edge can dull and its grain can soften.
The practice your chart can sustain for a long time is quiet, regular, and something you can do alone. This is where the stillness of the Canopy (華蓋) meets the discipline of metal, so sitting in the same place at the same time every day suits you best. Practice with a set framework lasts longer than practice that depends on a spontaneous mood. At first, ten minutes of breathing meditation a day is enough.
A body scan that observes the state of your body, or walking meditation, is also good. Metal is connected to the energy of breath and the lungs, so training to breathe long and deep settles body and mind together. Yours is a dry chart, so take care to stay hydrated, and in the dry weather of autumn and winter, I recommend paying attention to indoor humidity as well.
Forests and waterside places are good locations. Wood (木) is your Useful God and water (水) is your empty element, so a place where you can hear the sound of water among trees provides the greatest replenishment. In the city, a corner of a park or a small study with plants is enough. For scent, subtle woody notes suit you.
Solitary practice is the foundation, but it is also good to go out to a small gathering or retreat about once a month. Because yours is a chart that easily leans toward avoiding people, the experience of being silent together within a quiet community can unexpectedly ease your mind.
Finally, self-care should be a gentle rhythm, not a strict schedule. Be a companion to yourself, not a manager. Iron is tempered by passing through fire and water, but when it is not in use, it lasts longer if it rests wrapped in a warm cloth.
If your chart is read as a single book, it takes the shape of a growth story in which solid metal meets fire and wood over a long time and gains its use. Your Day Master (日干) is Gyeong metal (庚金). It is an energy that is straight and quick to decide, like raw ore or a great blade. From your year pillar Sin-Sa (辛巳) and month pillar Sin-Chuk (辛丑) to your hour pillar Eul-Yu (乙酉), metal energy fills four places, and there is also a flow in which Sa (巳), Yu (酉), and Chuk (丑) gather into a metal formation (金局). So the first chapter opens with the story of a person who is clear about principle and loyalty and does not back down.
However, the central event of this book is not metal becoming even harder. It is metal that is too hard being heated in fire and finding its use in shaping wood. The tension of the story lies in two points: the water (水) energy is empty, so the path for letting the words of your heart flow out is narrow, and wood (木), your Useful God (用神), appears only once. So you are not someone who struggles for lack of strength. You are closer to someone who has strength to spare but spent a long time finding where to use it. Toward the latter half, your Luck Pillars (大運) continue through Jeong-Yu (丁酉), Byeong-Sin (丙申), Eul-Mi (乙未), and Gap-O (甲午), bringing in fire and wood energy. The structure is one in which fire that shapes metal, and wood that metal cuts to create something useful, arrive in turn. The story reads as set in a direction that eases more and more as it goes.
Of the four periods, the brightest are your early years and your later years. The year branch of your early years is Long Life (長生), an auspicious position, and the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) and Hidden Pay (暗祿) sit there. This means a foundation for learning and an unseen store of resources were laid in childhood. The hour branch of your later years is Emperor (帝旺), the position where energy is fullest. It is a structure in which your vitality and presence come alive as you age. However, the blade of the Sharp Edge (羊刃) stands in the same position, so as strong as your power is, the task of managing stubbornness and sharpness also follows you until late. No noble star appears separately in your later years, so rather than relying on luck with people, the trust you have built yourself becomes the pillar of your old age.
The most demanding periods are young adulthood and middle age. Tomb (墓) in your month branch is a position that stores energy inward, so in your twenties and thirties there may be the frustration of not being able to show your abilities right away and building them up inside instead. Bathing (沐浴) in your day branch is a position where emotions and relationships surge, so middle age brings the task of handling waves in relationships and in your heart.
Laid over the Korean life cycle, it looks like this. In your twenties, the stage of establishing yourself (立身), the earth energy of Gi-Hae (己亥) and Mu-Sul (戊戌) supports you, but building inner strength suits you better than rushing. Your thirties, the stage of independence, are the period when the fire of Jeong-Yu (丁酉) tempers the metal, a hot but useful tempering. In your forties, the stage of stability, and your fifties, the stage of turning the light back (回光), the paths of wealth and relationships open as you move from Byeong-Sin (丙申) to Eul-Mi (乙未). In your sixties, the stage of drawing things together, the wood and fire of Gap-O (甲午) warmly support the finish. This year's Byeong-O (丙午) flow carries the surge of Bathing (沐浴), so I recommend that you not rush major decisions and wait for the auspicious flow that continues from next year.
The first is justice and faithfulness. That Gyeong metal fills the whole chart with metal is an expression of a temperament that keeps its word once given and wants to make right and wrong clear. This value makes you someone people can trust, but because your standards are high, it can also reach others sharply. When you dress firm principles in warm words, they become your greatest strength.
The second is a craftsman's mastery. Wood, your Useful God, is a Wealth star (財星), so it means the results of work, concrete achievements. That Direct Wealth (正財) and Indirect Wealth (偏財) come in as your Luck Pillars move through Byeong-Sin, Eul-Mi, and Gap-O points to a flow in which skill and expertise honed over a long time turn into real fruit. You are most at ease when you prove yourself through results that remain in your hands rather than through words.
The third is expression and communication. Having no water means the energy for gently drawing out the thoughts in your heart is weak. So, paradoxically, your life is pulled toward this value. If you find ways to let what is inside flow outward, such as writing, hobbies, teaching, or honest conversation, the texture of your life softens, as if moisture spread through hardened metal. These three complement one another. Principle sets up the framework, mastery creates usefulness, and expression breathes in warmth.
Your big task is turning strength into usefulness. In your chart, metal fills four places and you are strong (身強), but there is no water to ease that strength. Having no water also means the channel for letting strength flow out into words, feelings, and creativity is empty. When strength pools inside, it easily hardens into stubbornness, rigidity, and the habit of carrying everything alone. So one axis of the big task to work through in this life is moving from a strength that endures alone to a strength that shares and lets things flow.
The other axis is managing the blade of the Sharp Edge (羊刃). The Sharp Edge is the blade of drive and competitiveness20. Used well, it is the strength to decide in a crisis, but when you are hasty, it tends to cut the people closest to you first. Small habits, such as letting a day pass before you speak, or confiding in one trusted person before an important decision, act as a sheath. The emotional ups and downs of Bathing (沐浴) in your day branch belong to the same context, so looking after your body first, through regular exercise and sleep, calms the waves of the heart.
For reference, your Void (空亡) branches, Sul (戌) and Hae (亥), have no place in your chart, so they do not act directly. However, the periods when your Luck Pillars pass through Sul and Hae become chances for the empty seats to be filled, so deliberately keeping water energy close at those times is also a good approach. Your chart hands you this task not as a punishment of fate but as a promise of life. I hope you use your chart as a mirror for turning the light back to reflect on your own life (回光返照).
This chart is rich in auspicious stars (吉星). The Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人) in your young adulthood means connections with superiors and helpers who will reach out a hand at important crossroads. Beside your day branch in middle age gather the Heaven Virtue (天德貴人) and Moon Virtue (月德貴人), as well as the Heavenly Blessing Noble (天福貴人) and Fortune Star Noble (福星貴人). Heaven Virtue and Moon Virtue are a protective shield from heaven that covers major faults and lets you pass through crises gently. With the Heaven Virtue Combination (天德合) and Moon Virtue Combination (月德合) added as well, it is a structure in which that virtue actually carries on through people. The Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) of your early years is a talent for learning and study, and Hidden Pay (暗祿) is a stipend that arrives without showing, that is, unexpected help and the basis of a stable livelihood.
Of the Three Wonders (三奇) spoken of in Korean saju, you have the energies of the Heavenly Noble and Heaven Virtue, but the Grand One (太乙) does not appear. Rather than declaring it a complete Three Wonders formation, it is more honest to read it as a chart with two precious energies. Viewed in terms of pay and horse (祿馬), you have the pay of Hidden Pay, but the Travelling Horse (驛馬) does not stand out, so rooting deeply in one place and growing your achievements suits you better than a life of wandering widely.
In terms of the seasons of nature, the years and Luck Pillars that bring in wood, your Useful God, are your spring. The auspicious flow ahead, continuing through 2027 Jeong-Mi (丁未), 2028 Mu-Sin (戊申), and 2029 Gi-Yu (己酉), and the Eul-Mi (乙未) Luck Pillar around age 55 are especially worth looking forward to. It is a chart in which luck with people, luck in learning, and luck that blooms late are placed together.
I say this in the spirit of sitting across from you for a moment over a cup of tea. You are someone who has been solid for a long time. That solidity was sometimes lonely, and at times it made you store up inside the feelings you could not say. But if you look quietly into this chart, that solidity is in the end good material for protecting someone and making something. The fire is still on its way, and the wood will reach you soon. Without hurrying, in times that surge like this year, it is fine to stop and rest for a step.
The tendencies described in this reading are all stories of possibility. Which path to choose is always up to you. Even when noble people are beside you, you are the one who reaches out and takes their hand, and even when a task lies ahead of you, you are also the one who decides whether to work through it.
A saju chart does not determine your fate; it is a map for living well.
The numbers match the badges in the text above. The upper line is what the reading said; the lower line is the documented fact.
Showing only the hits would make this an advertisement, not evidence. Below are passages where the same reading was plainly wrong. In the text they are not hazed; they are marked with a dotted line.
This is a post-hoc comparison. We picked the passages that fit a life we already know. It does not mean that someone handed these eight characters in 1942 could have said he would step into a ring, refuse the draft and win his title back at thirty-two.
Passages that do not fit are marked too. They are collected at the end of section 04, and in the text they are not hazed but left with a dotted line. This reading pictured him as a quiet, late-blooming specialist inside an organization; in fact he won an Olympic gold medal at eighteen and was a famously talkative athlete in a one-on-one sport. The Korean-style career list in the text (accountancy, legal work, semiconductors and so on) has nothing to do with his life, and we left it as it is.
Charts with the same structure are common. A strong Gyeong metal chart with heavy metal and no water is not rare, and most people who have one never became boxers or refused the draft.
Health, death and private life are not covered. The text contains passages about the lungs, accidents, surgery, a spouse and children, but they carry no match marks. We did not interpret the illness of his later years either. Using a real person's chart to discuss illness, death, marriage or family has neither a basis nor any decency. We cited only what he did in public: refusing the draft, his conversion and change of name, and his title record.
Luck Pillar ages are attached to years by Korean age counting. The reading's "ages 25–34" is read as 1966–1975, the same convention as the Einstein and Jobs reports. Read by international age, each period starts a year later; in that case the 1996 cauldron lighting (no. 24) falls in the Byeong-Sin period and the 2006 sale of his name rights (no. 26) falls in the Eul-Mi period. Please read those two items as sitting on a boundary.
What can be reproduced is the calculation. The time correction, the stems and branches, the Luck Pillar ages and the conditions under which each symbolic star applies: anyone using the same inputs gets the same results. What comes after that is interpretation.
The text above was not written specially for this page. It is exactly what Orienteller's in-depth reading produced when given one chart. The same engine takes a date, time and place of birth and writes to the same depth.
Before that, it gets the time right. It corrects for daylight saving time, longitude and the equation of time, judges the 節氣 (solar terms) in a separate frame, and tells you how many minutes remain to the nearest double-hour boundary. If one of the eight characters is wrong, the reading of the other seven goes wrong with it.

Saju is not a tool that tells a fixed future. It is an old language for reading the arrangement of a person's temperament and the grain of the times they move through. Orienteller's work is to translate that language accurately.
