甲申 甲戌 甲午 庚午 · Eleanor Roosevelt (1884–1962)
We put this chart into Orienteller's in-depth reading engine. We gave it no name, no year of birth and no place of birth. Eight characters, the five-element counts and Luck Pillars labelled only by age were all it had. Below, the text it produced sits beside her public record as a columnist, activist and UN delegate. The passages it got wrong are marked too.
When a Saju reading seems accurate, there are usually two possible reasons. Either it really was accurate, or the reader already knew the answer. Unless the second possibility is ruled out, any comparison that follows means nothing. So we state the conditions of generation first.

Before generating, we searched all 8 prompts for 1884, New York,
뉴욕, Roosevelt, 루스벨트, Eleanor, 엘리너,
Washington, 워싱턴, White House, 백악관,
United Nations, UN and 유엔, and confirmed there was not a single hit.
That is why the reading describes its Luck Pillars by age only, with no years. We added the years afterwards.
The engine counts ages the Korean way, so we converted them as 1883 + age
(for example, the Luck Pillar from 63 starts in 1946).
To be clear, this is a post-hoc comparison. We already know her life, and we picked the passages that fit it. It is not a prediction. Section 05 below says more about this limit.
New York's clocks changed eleven months before she was born. American railroads adopted
standard time on November 18, 1883, and New York City kept Eastern Standard Time, based on the 75° W
meridian, from that day. Federal law did not fix it until 1918, but the city's clocks already followed it.
So the 11:00 in the birth record is read as Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5), not New York
local mean time.
| Step | Time | Shift | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recorded time | 1884-10-11 11:00:00 | — | Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5) |
| Universal time (UTC) | 1884-10-11 16:00:00 | +5 h | Remove the standard-time offset |
| Local mean time | 1884-10-11 11:04:00 | +4.00 min | Longitude 74.0° ÷ 15 (east of the 75° meridian) |
| True solar time | 1884-10-11 11:17:45 | +13.75 min | Equation of time (mid-October) |
| 節氣 (solar term) frame | 1884-10-12 00:00:00 | +8 h | For the year and month pillar boundaries |
On the clock, the recorded 11:00 sits exactly on the boundary between 巳時 and 午時. New York lies slightly east of its standard meridian, which adds 4 minutes, and the mid-October equation of time adds 13.75 more, so by the actual sun it was 11:17:45, inside 午時. The margin to the boundary is 17.7 minutes. Even if the record were wrongly read as local mean time, true solar time would be 11:13:45 and the hour pillar would not change.
Why the margin matters becomes clear if you change the hour pillar. Had it been 巳時, the hour pillar would be 己巳, and the structure in which the hour stem's 庚金 Seven Killings sits over two 午 fires would disappear. The Output controlling the Killings (fire forging metal) that the reading below mentions several times exists only at 午時. The year and month pillars, judged in the 節氣 frame after 寒露 (around October 8), are 甲申 甲戌. The birth time is not in the 23:00 hour, so the question of which midnight convention to use does not arise.
Below is the text Orienteller's in-depth reading actually produced for this chart, translated from the Korean original. The engine writes in Korean; the translation follows it sentence by sentence and adds nothing. Edits to the Korean original, if any, are limited to the form of address produced by the blank name field and obvious typos; the footer gives the exact count. Only the passages confirmed by the record are left sharp; the rest is hazed. To read the whole text, turn off the switch below.
Your chart has Gap-Sin (甲申) as the year pillar (年柱), Gap-Sul (甲戌) as the month pillar (月柱), Gap-O (甲午) as the day pillar (日柱), and Gyeong-O (庚午) as the hour pillar (時柱). Three of the four heavenly characters are Gap wood (甲木), so at a glance it is a forest of large trees standing in a row. At one edge of that forest, Gyeong metal (庚金), like the blade of an axe, is flashing in the sunlight.
The year pillar Gap-Sin is the shape of Yang (陽) wood standing on autumn metal (申金). It is possible that your childhood environment held firm standards and tension from early on. The month pillar Gap-Sul is a tree rooted in dry earth (戌土). Because it is the dry ground at the very end of autumn, it shows a grain in which, at the time of going out into society, you had to set out on your own to find water and nourishment. The day pillar Gap-O is you yourself. With fire (午火) spread beneath the tree, you are a person who grows straight while warming up on the inside. The hour pillar Gyeong-O is the place of later life and of results. Because it is metal heated by fire, it gives the impression of a tool that has been refined over a long time and honed to an edge.
Reduced to a single scene, the whole chart is "a large tree standing in a dry autumn field, and a blade being heated beside it." There is an abundance of power to grow large on your own, and the core task of this chart is what to refine that power with and where to use it. The fact that not a single drop of water is visible will be covered in detail later. But this is not a flaw. It is a map that tells you where to fill in so that life becomes smoother.
The distribution of the five elements is three wood (木), two fire (火), one earth (土), two metal (金), and no water (水). The most prominent energy is wood, and the empty energy is water. The Day Master (日干) Gap wood has many on its own side and is also supported by fire energy, so it reads as strong (身强). This means it is a structure overflowing with self-assertion and drive.
The Useful God (用神) is earth (土). When a tree grows too thick, its roots grip the ground and only consume nourishment. Here, earth does not mean simply ground but reality, wealth, and concrete results. It is the vessel that converts overflowing energy into "things that actually accumulate." For you, the greatest tonic is solidifying ideas and passion into visible forms such as contracts, savings, qualifications, and schedules.
The Luck Pillars (大運) flow in reverse (逆行), in the order Gye-Yu (癸酉), Im-Sin (壬申), Sin-Mi (辛未), Gyeong-O (庚午), Gi-Sa (己巳), Mu-Jin (戊辰), Jeong-Myo (丁卯), Byeong-In (丙寅), Eul-Chuk (乙丑). The early Gye-Yu and Im-Sin are a road where water and metal come together. The water that was empty comes in for a while and gives you room to breathe, but the pressure of metal may follow along with it. In the Sin-Mi Luck Pillar, dry earth comes in, which is good for strengthening your practical foundation. The Gyeong-O Luck Pillar is likely to be a period of great change as metal and fire collide head on, so it is better not to hurry. The Gi-Sa and Mu-Jin Luck Pillars are a stretch good for reaping results, since earth, the Useful God, stands at the front. In the later Jeong-Myo and Byeong-In, wood and fire grow dense again, so active energy is abundant but heat rises easily.
The day pillar Gap-O (甲午) is "a large tree holding fire." Gap wood is a large tree that grows straight upward, with strong power to begin and strong pride. The O fire (午火) beneath it is a flame that brings talent out into the open. So you are someone who comes alive when you send things out through words, expression, and the senses, rather than quietly keeping them inside.
This combination often appears as a person who is bright and quick-witted, and who sees the way before anyone teaches it. You have presence even when you stay still, and you are often placed in positions where someone has to take the lead1. At the same time, fire flares up easily and also cools easily. There may be a tendency for the start to be dazzling and for your interest to shift partway through.
In a woman's chart, Gap-O is often read as strong independence and clear personal standards. A life where you set your own direction suits you better than a life someone else decides for you2. However, a straight tree takes the wind head on. If it does not learn how to bend, its branches may break in a great wind. That is why "the skill of changing direction gently" is a lifelong task. The habit of letting an important decision sit for just one day protects the momentum of your flame while preventing breakage.
Your day generally starts fast and heats up fast. From the morning, things to do line up in your head, and you easily feel frustrated when your body cannot keep up with them. With O fire in the day branch and also in the hour pillar, it is a structure in which the speed of fire continues all day long. On days with a lot of activity, your energy actually fills up, and when static, repetitive work drags on, you can become exhausted quickly.
Your taste in environment leans toward open spaces where sunlight comes in. Your thoughts untangle better in a place with wide windows and flowing air than in a stuffy basement or a narrow cubicle. What you reach for is very likely things that wake the senses, such as new information, conversation with people, and eye-catching colors or sounds.
On the other hand, what wears you out fastest is dryness. Since there is no water anywhere in the chart, the signal comes right away when you run short of moisture, whether in mind or body. Your mouth goes dry, your words grow sharp, and you get irritated easily over small things. What is needed at such times is not working harder but cooling down for a moment. A cup of warm barley tea, a short evening walk, 20 minutes with your phone put down: these are ways of giving water to dry branches. If you set the close of your day like a ritual, it keeps the fire from spreading into the night.
When pressure comes, you move first. Gap wood is quick to decide, and O fire reacts instantly. Judgment is usually led by intuition, with the reasons following behind. This speed is a great advantage in a crisis, but there are also times when you set a direction without fully checking the premises and later have to come back.
In conflict situations, you tend to speak head on rather than talking around things3. The Gyeong metal (庚金) of the hour pillar is a character that means discipline and pressure in the chart, and it is a structure in which the O fire beneath it heats the metal. This can be read as meaning that when outside pressure comes, you have the power to meet it and refine it. At the same time, it is also a warning that your words can go out like a blade. Even if what you say is right, if the other person has no room to accept it, a scar is left on the relationship. When you are angry, do not answer right away; write the sentence once, and read it again after a day has passed.
Your way of reading people is fast and sensory. You gauge the other person's intentions by first impressions and atmosphere, and that feeling tends not to be far off. However, since it is a structure in which help from Nobles (貴人) is weak, it is good to deliberately keep trustworthy advisers close. If you designate one or two people whose opinion you can ask at every important decision, your strong drive will be used safely.
Your inborn foundation is a tree that is straight, bright, and high in pride. With as many as three Gap wood, it is possible that from childhood you had a strong desire to stand tall on your own rather than stay in someone's shade. Even when you follow rules, you follow them only when they make sense to you, and when they do not, you tend to quietly keep your distance.
In terms of the Twelve Life Stages (十二運星), the childhood position is Severance (絶), young adulthood is Nurture (養), and the day branch and hour branch are Death (死). The names sound frightening, but there is no need to read them as an ill sentence. Severance is "the place of being cut off and starting anew," and Nurture is "the place of being raised." Even if at first you had little to lean on and had to stand up on your own, it can be seen that thanks to this, independent roots formed. The Death position shows a tendency for energy to sink inward rather than flow outward. It means that although you are lively on the outside, you may spend long stretches chewing things over alone inside.
The biggest feature of your temperament is that "the power to begin" and "the power to bear things alone" are present together. Because you are clumsy at asking for help, you easily hold hard things by yourself for a long time. Refining your inborn grain does not mean breaking this stubbornness. It means adding one more thing on top: the flexibility to reach out your hand at the moment it is needed. When this flexibility develops, the large tree at last becomes a forest.
The you that shows on the outside is bright and direct, but your inner weather is not constant. Because the day branch and hour branch are both in the Death (死) position, there may be moments when, after moving about energetically outside, your energy suddenly sinks when you are alone. The fact that there is no water in the chart, and so few channels to cool and release emotion, also has an effect. When your heart heats up, it easily simmers inside without being cooled and leads to fatigue.
The recurring tensions are largely two. One is a tug of war between "the desire to go higher" and "the responsibility to hold the place you are in now." The other is the tension between "the urge to express" and "the pressure to do it perfectly." This is because O fire overlaps twice, so the urge to express is strong, while Gyeong metal beside it is always watching with an evaluating eye.
One more thing: the Red Glamour star (紅艶殺) appears twice in this chart. It is read as a signal of the charm that draws people and of dense emotion, and it shows a tendency to fall in deeply once your heart is moved. Used well, this energy becomes artistic sensitivity and persuasive appeal, but if you are swept up by emotion, relationships can become tangled.
The best way to tend your inner life is to create channels for letting emotions flow out without words, such as writing, music, and walks. Opening a single waterway to dry branches is itself peace of mind.
You have the power to draw people in. With the charm of the Red Glamour star layered on the bright presence of Gap wood, you tend to leave a lasting impression even on people you meet for the first time. In conversation you are frank and lively, the one who leads the mood, and you also make people laugh with witty expressions.
The way you get close is a pattern of opening quickly and immersing deeply. You pour time and energy without holding back into people you like. On the other hand, when you feel trust has been lost, you also have a side that draws a line without a word. Because your way of keeping distance is quiet and firm, the other person may feel you have suddenly drifted away without knowing why. If you speak up first, even a little, when something bothers you, relationships last much longer.
Since the energy of Nobles came out as weak, it suits you better to cultivate connections yourself rather than wait for connections that reach out to you first. The people who help you are those who are calm and have a sense of reality, people with earth energy. Your flame stabilizes when there are people beside you who make plans and keep promises, people whose words are few but whose actions are steady. Conversely, flashy connections that are all talk may be enjoyable for a while but easily drain your energy.
In romance and close relationships, conversations that match each other's emotional temperature are important. The habit of not drawing conclusions while things are hot, and talking only after they have cooled, is a great help.
Your attitude toward work is close to "the person who goes ahead and opens the game." Gap wood's pioneering spirit combines with O fire's expressiveness, so your strengths show in work that turns ideas into words and forms, such as planning, education, content, counseling, and presentations. The Gyeong metal of the hour pillar also means discipline and expertise, so if you hone the skills of one field rather than trusting only your instincts, your edge becomes sharper.
What makes you start is novelty and recognition. You catch fire at the thrill of a new project or at the moment someone recognizes you. What makes you go all the way is visible results and a steady structure. Since the Useful God is earth, if you set up intermediate goals, deadlines, and metrics confirmed in numbers, your completion rate rises noticeably. Holding on with vague enthusiasm alone tends to lose strength midway.
Looking at the flow of wealth, the Sul earth of the month branch is the root of your practical sense. You become stable when you build a structure for accumulating steadily rather than aiming for something big all at once. Looking at the flow ahead, 2026, Byeong-O (丙午), is a year when expression and talent become active, and 2027, Jeong-Mi (丁未), is a good year for securing practical results. In 2028, Mu-Sin (戊申), pressure and fluctuation may grow, so it is safer to put your effort into reorganizing rather than overexpanding. After that, in 2030, Gyeong-Sul (庚戌), the flow appears to turn back toward the auspicious side. The key is to go forward while adjusting your pace for each period.
Your real strengths can be summed up in three. The first is the power to begin and independence. You have roots that have opened the way on their own even in environments with little help, so you do not collapse easily even in unfamiliar places. The second is expressiveness and sensibility. With O fire overlapping, you have a talent for moving hearts through words, writing, gestures, and atmosphere, and it becomes a power to brighten the mood among people. The third is the ability to turn pressure into a tool. The structure of Gyeong metal being heated by fire reads as a nature that becomes more firmly refined when it meets hardship.
The points of caution are two. One is overheating. With fire layered on a strong tree, the faster you go, the faster you burn out. When you start a task, putting even rest time into the schedule is the most realistic prescription. The other is the stubbornness of trying to bear things alone. Weak help from Nobles does not mean there is no help; it may be a structure in which help does not reach you unless you ask for it yourself. The habit of regularly confiding your worries to one or two trustworthy people is the cheapest and most effective safety device in this chart.
Just being aware of these two things lets your large tree grow for a long time without breaking. Keeping your straightness as it is while learning one more way to bend: that is the warmest advice this chart offers.
The temperature of this chart leans warm, and its humidity leans very dry. There are as many as two O fire, and Gap wood plays the role of firewood feeding the fire, while the Sul earth of the month branch is dry earth with no moisture. On top of that, there is not a single water (水), so it is close to a scene of embers spreading across a drying autumn field. In the body, this may show up as heat rising upward and the mouth, eyes, and skin drying out easily, and in the mind, as a tendency for impatience and sensitivity to rise.
This dryness is not a defect to fix but an environment to look after. You only need to replenish the empty water energy little by little in daily life. The easiest habit to practice is "putting in moisture and coolness three times a day." For example, a glass of lukewarm water in the morning, moist and cooling foods such as barley tea, pear, cucumber, or seaweed in the afternoon, and lowering your heat with a shower or foot bath at night. By season, you are especially prone to burnout under the scorching sun of midsummer and in dry late autumn, so in those periods I recommend keeping a loose schedule and making time to walk by the water or along forest paths.
In your environment, a humidifier, potted plants, and spaces with the sound of water help. In color, deep navy or black tones calm the mind. To add the energy of earth, the Useful God, it is good to include a stable rhythm such as earth-toned objects or regular mealtimes. When you cool with water and support with earth, the flame that was heating up turns into an ember that burns warm for a long time.
The voice that rings loudest in your chart is the Friend (比肩). The Gap wood (甲木) of the year stem and month stem are both the same energy as the Day Master (日干), so your self-confidence is firm, like a forest of trees of the same height standing side by side. On top of this, the Gyeong metal (庚金) of the hour stem rises as Seven Killings (偏官, 七殺), and the Sin metal (申金) of the year branch is also Seven Killings, so the picture is of an axe and a saw standing close to the forest. The O fire (午火) of the day branch and hour branch are both Hurting Officer (傷官). This means that the energy of wanting to speak, make, and reveal is laid down with deep roots. There is only one Indirect Wealth (偏財) in Sul earth (戌土), and so a sense of wealth and reality is present but thin.
Looking at the quiet side, the Resource stars (印星) are not visible on the surface. Water (水) is at 0, so the energy that means learning, protection, and rest is empty. Eating God (食神), Rob Wealth (劫財), Direct Wealth (正財), and Direct Officer (正官) are also not exposed. However, Eating God, Direct Officer, and Indirect Resource (偏印) are faintly hidden within the hidden stems (支藏干), so they become materials that are hard to see in ordinary times but wake up when the luck turns.
This combination tends to shape you into "an independent-minded expresser." You are someone who stands on your own, whose edge sharpens in the face of pressure, and who releases that edge through words and creative work. Since the Day Master is strong and the Useful God (用神) is earth (土), the chart is most at ease when the overflowing wood (木) energy is transferred into real-world results, that is, money and structure, contracts, and achievements. In periods when you blaze brilliantly like a flame on dry firewood, you need the habit of keeping a sip of water beside you. Put time in your schedule to stop talking and rest during the day.
Within a group, you often end up in the position of "the person who offers an opinion first" or "the person who shakes up the mood once." With two Friends side by side, you have a strong tendency to make your own way in your own manner rather than move for long under someone's direction. With two Hurting Officers sitting in the day branch and hour branch, your words have speed and an edge. You have the power to point out what is right precisely, but at times that precision can reach the other person as a blade.
The stage where you shine is a place where set frameworks are loose and individual discretion is large. Stages where you are evaluated by results suit you well, such as planning, content, lecturing, counseling, design, and a business under your own name. With two Seven Killings, you also have a side that holds steady with surprising calm even in positions of heavy responsibility or in crisis situations4. You are the type in whom pressure actually wakes up concentration.
Conversely, in organizations with a rigid hierarchy, you are easily worn down. For a person with a strong Hurting Officer, "doing as you are told" is the most expensive cost. If you are in such an environment, try changing the form rather than swallowing your words. If you organize your opinion into a short document or proposal instead of arguing back verbally, your edge softens considerably and your persuasiveness goes up5.
Since help from Nobles (貴人) comes out as weak, it is better to build relationships yourself than to wait for a patron who appears by chance. The Friend's strength of keeping faith for a long time with someone you have once trusted becomes your most reliable asset.
In a woman's chart, the Officer stars (官星) point to the spouse, and the Output stars (食傷) point to children. First, the parents. The Indirect Wealth that means the father sits as a single Sul earth, and since earth is the Useful God, the bond with your father reads as one with weight that helps you in a practical direction. However, he is closer to a presence who showed responsibility and standards than to a relationship of gentle warmth by your side.
The Resource stars that mean the mother do not appear on the surface. Because water is empty, the relationship with your mother may have felt distant, or you may not have been able to lean on her as much as you wanted when you needed emotional support. Because there is a hidden Indirect Resource, you may instead have filled the experience of being protected through other routes, such as books, teachers, or studying on your own.
As for siblings, with two Friends, they tend to be many in number, or at least the bond with friend-like peers is strong. You are close, but each of you is strongly assertive, so there will also be times when opinions clash. Helping each other while keeping finances clearly separate is the secret to lasting.
The spouse star is the Seven Killings of the hour stem, that is, the Seven Killings (七殺) proper. You tend to be drawn to intense partners with strong presence, and tension and stimulation come along together in the relationship. The Direct Officer hidden in the hidden stems leaves room for a stable bond to appear later on. Since the child star, Hurting Officer, is strong with two, the bond with children tends to be distinct, and it easily leads to children who are quick-spoken and strongly individual. Try approaching your children with questions rather than lectures.
The first charm people feel beside you is your upright presence. A person with a strong Friend does not appear shaken, so anxious people want to lean on them. The second is the Hurting Officer's wit. The moment you pin down in one precise word what others talk around, people feel relieved and remember you.
It is also worth noting that the Red Glamour star (紅艷殺) overlaps in the day branch and hour branch. The Red Glamour star is a star that means sensory charm such as the look in your eyes, your atmosphere, and your voice. It shows a tendency to be a person on whom eyes linger even without dressing up, and it becomes a power that stirs curiosity not only in the opposite sex but also in the same sex. Since there are two overlapping, goodwill you did not intend may spread into misunderstanding, so it is good to keep ready, in ordinary times, a word that draws a clear line.
What Seven Killings adds is a weighty charisma. People feel that you would not back down in a crisis. Thanks to that trust, the role of leader often comes to you naturally6.
Still, this charm has a shadow. Because water is empty, when there are moments when your words lack warmth, your charm can be read as cold sharpness. Try offering a small sip of water first, such as a word of praise or a line asking how someone is doing. Gentle words, like a stream that wets a young stem, add depth to your basic charm.
The year pillar is Gap-Sin (甲申), with Friend in the heavenly stem and Seven Killings in the earthly branch. Your childhood environment looks like "energy that resembles me" and "energy that trains me" together in one pillar. It is highly likely that there was an atmosphere among the people close to you of not wanting to lose to one another, or that you grew up receiving from early on the message that you had to manage on your own. The family's expectations may have been high or its discipline strict, or the environment may have changed often and demanded adaptability.
In terms of the Twelve Life Stages, Severance (絶) sits here. Severance is the place where the flow is cut off once and begins anew, so in your early years the sense of ample support tends to be weak, and the sense of standing up by your own strength grows early. Connecting with the fact that Nobles come out as absent, you were probably used to finding your own way rather than having someone open it for you. You do not have to see this only as a lack. Independence trained early becomes great capital later on.
The values engraved in your early years may lean toward "I have to stand on my own strength" and "I must not look weak." Now that you are an adult, check once in a while whether those beliefs have hardened too much. It is good to practice the idea that asking for help is not weakness but a way of growing a forest. If there were something to say to your childhood self, it would be the single phrase that you do not have to struggle alone.
The month pillar is Gap-Sul (甲戌), with Friend in the heavenly stem and Indirect Wealth in the earthly branch. In young adulthood, a structure unfolds in which you work among peers similar to you and meet real-world wealth. You tend to grow by competing with colleagues and peers at work, and you learn through your body a sense for practical work, numbers, and assets. The month pillar is the position that shows the ground of your occupation, and with Indirect Wealth sitting there, you are a better match for multiple streams of income or project-based work than for a single fixed salary.
The Twelve Life Stage is Nurture (養). Nurture is the place of growing in the mother's womb, with an auspicious energy of growth that is not yet complete. So in this period, the more you learn, experiment, and grow your foundation rather than hurrying, the larger the reward. Sul earth is also earth, the Useful God, so the experiences of young adulthood become the roots that later support your chart.
The point of caution is the stubbornness peculiar to the Friend. When you clash with peers at the same height, it easily becomes confrontation rather than cooperation. Divide each person's area clearly within the team, and agree on the criteria in advance when sharing results. Also, the Direct Officer hidden in the hidden stems tells you that a trusted position and formal recognition may follow. If you steadily build up qualifications, titles, and experience, they become a great strength later.
The day pillar is Gap-O (甲午), with Hurting Officer sitting in the day branch. The core of middle age is "the me who expresses." Bringing out the thoughts stored in your heart through words, works, business, and teaching becomes your very identity. The Twelve Life Stage is Death (死), so beneath the activity visible on the outside there may be a thirst for rest and putting things in order. Death is not a negative label but a place where energy gathers inward, so it also reads as a side that thinks deeply and engages in philosophical reflection.
Having Hurting Officer in the day branch, the spouse palace, means that communication with your partner is the key to the relationship. Precise and direct words can hurt the person you love, so you need the habit of considering timing and temperature even when the content is the same. Since the Seven Killings of the hour pillar is the spouse star, there is a possibility that a stimulating person with strong presence will stay beside you for a long time, and how you handle the tension in that relationship becomes the task of middle age.
The flow of the Luck Pillars also helps. Gyeong-O (庚午) from age 33 is a period when Seven Killings and Hurting Officer come together, so the pressure of change tends to be large, and the following Gi-Sa (己巳) Luck Pillar at 43 and Mu-Jin (戊辰) Luck Pillar at 53 are stretches where earth, the Useful God, comes in and helps you find stability. Wherever your current age falls, putting contracts, assets, and structure in order when earth luck arrives is highly effective. Until then, steadily keep habits of rest that can cool the heat, such as walks by the water or sleep.
The hour pillar is Gyeong-O (庚午), with Seven Killings in the heavenly stem and Hurting Officer in the earthly branch together. Because the hour is confirmed, what can be read is clear. In your later years, it is a structure in which positions of responsibility and self-expression continue at the same time. Even after retirement, rather than withdrawing completely, it is highly likely that you will continue to exert influence as a mentor or adviser, or through some small work under your own name7.
The star of children and students is Hurting Officer. The O fire of the hour branch is a bond that carries on through words and talent, so your manner of speaking and your values may remain deeply not only in children you bore but also in the people you taught. Meanwhile, since the Twelve Life Stage is Death (死), in your later years a direction of clearing away busy activities and keeping only the essentials suits you well. Refining one theme deeply and passing it on, rather than starting many things, benefits both body and mind.
What you will hand down is attitude rather than property. How to stand without wavering, how to hold calmly in the face of pressure, how to speak in your own voice8. However, because it is a structure in which Seven Killings and Hurting Officer collide, a strong tone may leave wounds when you clash with your children or juniors. The habit of listening first before giving advice protects your relationships in old age. Keep the energy of earth, the Useful God, close, for example through a hobby of handling soil, gardening, or a stable savings structure, and make the floor of your heart firm. The firmer its roots, the longer a forest stays green.
What first catches the eye in this chart is that the auspicious stars (吉神) are empty. Stars that reach out a hand in a crisis, such as the Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人), are not clearly present in any of the four pillars, and help from Nobles is also on the weak side. On the other hand, among the inauspicious stars (凶神), the Red Glamour star (紅艷殺) overlaps twice. Among the twelve symbolic stars (十二神煞), the Earth star (地殺), the Month star (月殺), and, twice, the Disaster star (災殺, also called the Prison star) are placed.
Having so few stars does not mean your luck is meager. This chart is a strong (身強) structure in which a Gap wood (甲木) Day Master (日干) commands three wood (木). It means you are a person whose power to push forward on your own is greater than the stars that help. It is close to the picture of a large tree standing by its own strength without anyone else's shade. However, because of that straightness, you easily miss the timing to ask for help.
The Void (空亡) is Jin (辰) and Sa (巳), but these characters are not in the chart. So it is hard to expect the effect of the Void softening the neighboring stars. The Red Glamour star and the Disaster star tend to operate in their own colors without filtering.
In terms of the five elements (五行), there is no water at all, two fire, and two metal. Fire burns the wood and metal strikes the wood, but there is no water to cool them. Earth (土), the Useful God (用神), is the buffer zone that receives this heat and nourishes the metal. So the way to ease the tension the stars bring also lies in things that resemble the ground. Regular meals and sleep, a steady routine, and reliable documents and contracts are such things.
In the periods when earth energy returns in the Luck Pillars (大運), these inauspicious stars are likely to become considerably milder. The year 2028, Mu-Sin (戊申), has Severance (絶) as its Twelve Life Stage (十二運星), so it is also a good year to set a new direction, but it would be better to look over large expenditures and signatures one more time.
The year pillar is Gap-Sin (甲申), and its Twelve Life Stage is Severance (絶). Severance is said to be the most inauspicious, but if you read it as the place of being cut off and starting anew, the story changes. Because it is a seed that fell into a crack in the rocks without roots, it is possible that in childhood your environment was more the kind that pushed you to find your own way than one that served as a sturdy fence.
The twelve symbolic star of this position is the Earth star (地殺). The Earth star is the star of setting foot on unfamiliar land for the first time, so it tends to suggest a childhood with frequent movement, such as moving house, changing schools, and changes of environment. Sin (申) is the year of the Monkey, curious and quick with the hands. You may have learned early a sense for adapting to new environments rather than staying in one place for long.
Help from Nobles is not clear in this period. You may feel that adult care did not reach you sufficiently, or have memories of lacking someone to open your heart to. Even so, there is no need to nail this memory down as fate. The prescription is to give yourself now what was lacking in childhood. Deliberately create a trustworthy mentor or a long-lasting gathering. Setting a place to return to once a year, that is, a hometown, old friends, or a regular gathering with family, also fills in the spot where your roots were shallow.
In addition, the relationship between the Gap wood and Sin metal (申金) of the year pillar is the shape of a tree facing metal, so it is not without tension. If sharp words or comparisons you heard as a child remain in your heart, please reread them as not your essence but the clumsy expressions of the adults of that time.
The month pillar is Gap-Sul (甲戌), and its Twelve Life Stage is Nurture (養), an auspicious position. Nurture is the stage likened to the period of growing in the mother's womb. It is a time of quietly receiving nourishment and preparing, not yet revealed. From your twenties to your mid-thirties, the time tends to flow as a time of building skill and foundation rather than dazzling achievements9.
The twelve symbolic star of this position is the Month star (月殺). The Month star means ground whose moisture has dried up, and it can give the feeling that results do not show right away as much as you have worked, or that things unfold slowly. Sul (戌) is the parched earth at the end of autumn, and the fact that there is not a single water in the chart adds to this dryness. So in this period, your heart tires easily, and you easily grow impatient comparing your achievements with those around you.
However, since Sul earth (戌土) holds the energy of earth, the Useful God, the Month star cannot be seen as entirely harmful. It means you can put down roots even in parched ground, and the skills and qualifications built in this period are used for a long time. It is much easier if you treat these years as years for laying foundations rather than years for rushing out results.
The prescription is to water the dry ground. Write rest into your schedule first. In autumn and winter, it is better to put your effort into organizing and study rather than overexpanding. Activities close to water, such as walking or swimming, are an easy way to fill in daily life the energy missing from this chart. The Nobles of this period do not come wearing name tags, so listen once more, carefully, to the words of seniors or colleagues who offer advice.
The day pillar is Gap-O (甲午), the place where you yourself and the spouse position sit. Here the Red Glamour star (紅艷殺) and the Disaster star (災殺) are present together, and the Twelve Life Stage is Death (死). Judging by the names alone it looks heavy, but Death is not a place where activity stops; it is a place where energy gathers inward. It can be read as a period when, even if quiet on the outside, thoughts and emotions move deeply inside.
The Red Glamour star means charm that draws the opposite sex and density of emotion. Because it is in the day branch (日支), your heart easily heats up toward a connection, and there tends to be a large amplitude of emotion in relationships. Like a flame placed on top of a tree, it is warm, but if it loses its direction it spreads easily. The Disaster star is also called the Prison (囚獄) star, and it is a star that warns against sudden accidents or gossip, and a stifling feeling as if your heart were locked up. Especially when your words are hasty, you easily cause misunderstandings.
In the body, it is a structure with much fire and no water, so it is good to pay attention to the heart, blood pressure, eyes, and quality of sleep. If the days when heat rises and you lose sleep or easily flush increase, please take them as signals your body is sending.
The prescription is a habit of slowing down. Make important statements and decisions after letting them sit for a day. With your spouse or close people, it helps to put off conversation on days when emotions run high and to set a promise to share your hearts on calm days. It is safer to take driving, nighttime travel, and strenuous exercise one beat slower. On the work side, this charm is used well in work dealing with people and work of expressing and persuading, so pouring your energy into creative works or your job is also a good outlet.
The hour pillar is Gyeong-O (庚午), and this is a chart whose hour of birth has been confirmed. This position also has the same Red Glamour star and Disaster star as the day pillar, and the Twelve Life Stage is again Death (死). The fact that O (午) appears repeatedly in the day pillar and hour pillar means that the energy of fire continues as a theme even in the second half of life. The desire to express, affection toward people, and passion tend not to cool even as you age.
The hour pillar symbolizes children, juniors, and the work and name you leave behind. Gyeong metal (庚金) is, for Gap wood, the energy of firm discipline and responsibility, so in old age you may become strict with yourself or have high expectations of your children and juniors. When the emotion of the Red Glamour star is layered on this, it can appear as a warm heart whose expression comes out sharp. The Disaster star is a signal to be careful of health problems or unexpected variables in this period, so it is good not to put off checkups on your body.
On the other hand, Death (死) also means putting things in order and inner completion. The second half of life is comfortable if you use it as a time to refine and pass on what you have built up over a long time rather than expanding your work. Try organizing your experience into forms that can be left behind, such as writing, skills, and stories.
The prescription is threefold. Do not skip your health checkup once a year; when giving advice to your children or juniors, let it sit for a day and soften it; and take up early a hobby of handling soil (a vegetable garden, pottery, walks) to keep the energy of the Useful God close. A life with feet on the ground turns the flame of your later years into the gentle fire of a hearth.
Your chart is a structure in which the Gap wood (甲木) Day Master (日干) overlaps three times across the year, month and day pillars, and Gyeong metal (庚金) sits on the hour pillar. It is the shape of great trees forming one forest. The roots and the spirit are ample, but there is not a single drop of water (水) anywhere in the chart to wet those trees. This is the first thing that catches the eye when reading your study luck. Because the Resource stars (印星), the stars of learning, are empty in the natal chart, study where someone spoon-feeds you, or where you sit quietly in a fixed frame and take notes, tends not to catch the flow well.
That does not mean your study luck is weak. When the Day Master is strong, you have the power to push forward on your own, and when you meet a subject you want to study, you show a growth speed that shoots straight up. But that study has to be "something I chose." Like a tree that finds water even in dry ground and sends its roots down long, you are closer to someone who digs in because you feel the need than to someone who learns because the environment is plentiful.
Seen as a lifelong flow, the Luck Pillars (大運) of your early years fill this lack. From age 3 to 22 the Gye-Yu (癸酉) and Im-Sin (壬申) lucks continue, and Gye water (癸水) and Im water (壬水) are exactly the water missing from the natal chart. It is a period in childhood and the school years when it is easy to meet good teachers, books and environments10. After that this moisture drains away and the lucks of earth and fire come in, so the character of study changes from "study for learning" to "study for using."
There is one point to make. The chart shows that help from Nobles (貴人) is weak. On the path of study, going to find a teacher yourself suits you far better than waiting for someone to open the way for you. Overall, you can see it as study luck that takes in the basics early and then builds expertise by your own strength from the middle years on.
Gap wood is a tree that grows straight upward, and it leads Sul earth (戌土) in the month branch and O fire (午火) in the day branch. When wood kindles fire, it becomes the Output stars (食傷), the power to express and to produce. The O fire in the day branch is the Hurting Officer (傷官) for the Day Master, so you have a talent for bringing what is in your head out as words, writing and results. You shine in learning where you make things directly, explain and present, more than in subjects of memorizing and taking exams.
These fields suit you.
The Gyeong metal (庚金) in the hour stem is Seven Killings (偏官) for Gap wood. It is the image of an axe shaping a tree, so it connects to discipline, technique and precision. In other words, rather than a path of digging into pure theory alone, you can also find strength in specialized fields that carry rules and techniques, for example practical disciplines such as law, engineering, medicine or technical work. It is the principle of a tree meeting an axe and being shaped into useful timber.
Conversely, there are fields that can become hard. These are fields where you must memorize fixed answers for a long time, fields where you quietly pile up only theory alone, and fields where the process drags on long with no results. For a tree without water, such environments easily feel like thirst.
Since your Useful God (用神) is Earth (土), learning goes best when practical use and stability are attached to it. Try designing your study in forms that put your feet on the ground, such as qualifications, practical projects and portfolios. That is when your talent grows most solidly.
Concentration is read by how much the Resource stars and the Officer stars (官星) support it. You have no Resource stars in the natal chart, and your only Officer star is the Seven Killings of Gyeong metal in the hour pillar. This shapes your endurance. The Resource stars are the power that settles the mind and keeps you seated for a long time, and since they are empty, study that requires holding out in one place for a long time has to be carried by willpower alone. The Officer stars are outside discipline and pressure, and your single Seven Killings sits on the O fire of the hour branch, so the support it gives is not very large.
A chart with a strong Day Master and many Companions (比劫) tends to become frighteningly absorbed once convinced, but to change direction once interest cools. It is similar to a flame flaring up on dry firewood and quickly dying down. So your concentration comes short and strong rather than lasting long.
Do not see this only as a weakness. If you build the structure well, it becomes a highly efficient way of concentrating. Here are a few prescriptions.
In particular, organizing and reviewing tend to go well in winter and in periods when water energy circulates, so you might time the organizing of important concepts to those periods.
Exam luck is read by looking together at the Literary Noble (文昌貴人), the Academy Noble (學堂貴人) and the Officer stars, and in your chart these two Nobles are not conspicuously in place. Because it is a chart with weak help from Nobles, it is an honest structure in which results come out as much as you prepare, rather than one where you can expect to "pass by luck." This actually puts the mind at ease. You only have to become someone who wins by planning rather than by chance.
The Officer stars are the stars of exams and qualifications, and you have one Seven Killings in the hour pillar. Forms that show ability, such as practical tests, interviews and portfolio reviews, suit you better than a one-shot exam. When you get tense, the stubbornness typical of someone with a strong Day Master comes up, and you may insist on your own way instead of reading the evaluator's criteria. Make it a habit to check the intent of the questions and the grading criteria once more just before an exam.
This year, 2026, Byeong-O (丙午), is a year when the Eating God and the Hurting Officer come in together, so you have many thoughts and a strong desire to express yourself. However, since the Twelve Life Stage (十二運星) is Death (死), energy tends to sink inward. It is safer to use it as a year for preparing and building the basics rather than for taking exams.
2027, Jeong-Mi (丁未), and 2028, Mu-Sin (戊申), are heavier. In 2028 in particular, Seven Killings comes in strongly and the Twelve Life Stage is Severance (絶), so if you concentrate a big exam in that year, the pressure may grow. If possible, move that year's exams earlier or later, or secure enough preparation time.
From 2029, Gi-Yu (己酉), Direct Officer and Direct Wealth come in and your qualification luck opens noticeably. 2030, Gyeong-Sul (庚戌), has the favorable Twelve Life Stage of Nurture (養), so we recommend aiming important applications at 2029–2030.
By Luck Pillar, there are two broad periods when study shines.
The first is from age 3 to 22, the Gye-Yu (癸酉) and Im-Sin (壬申) Luck Pillars. Since this is a period when the water missing from the natal chart comes in directly, it is like a welcome rain for Gap wood. In this period learning is absorbed naturally, and it is easy to connect with good teachers, books and environments. Basic academic skills and study habits are likely to settle in this period, so if you properly learn how to study at this time, it becomes a lifelong asset.
The second is the Sin-Mi (辛未) Luck Pillar from age 23 to 32. Sin metal (辛金) is Direct Officer and Mi earth (未土) is the energy of earth, your Useful God, so strength goes into building social qualifications and a stable position. Purposeful learning, such as graduate school, professional qualifications and study for employment, suits this period well.
The Gyeong-O (庚午) Luck Pillar from age 33 to 42 is a period of high tension, with Seven Killings and Hurting Officer interlocking. You are likely to feel pressure while combining work and study, but it is actually good for sharpening practical skills. Learning in the field bears more fruit than theory.
The Gi-Sa (己巳) Luck Pillar from age 43 to 52 is a Useful God luck in which earth comes in. It is the most stable period for late-blooming study, deepening expertise, and moving into teaching11, and what you have learned easily connects to wealth. The earth energy continues through the Mu-Jin (戊辰) Luck Pillar that follows, and learning becomes the foundation of real life.
In short, the flow is to receive the basics early, build qualifications in your 20s, and add depth in your 40s and 50s. It is a chart also open to learning late in life, so do not give up because of age.
Between studying alone and studying together, the way that suits you is "mixing alone and together" rather than going all the way alone. Because your Resource stars are empty, your power to hold out alone for a long time is weak; instead, because your Day Master is strong, your power to move on your own initiative is ample. So the good order is to build the basics through individual study and then confirm them through study groups, discussion or presentations. Because you have Hurting Officer energy, your understanding becomes firmest when you explain it in words. Teaching a friend is the best review.
How you find a teacher also matters. Since help from Nobles is weak, apprenticeship-style learning, in which you go directly to an expert in the field you want and learn from them, is more effective than waiting to happen upon a good teacher. The Seven Killings in the hour pillar can also be read as a connection with strict seniors or craftsmen with skills. Even if they are somewhat demanding, if you learn beside someone whose skill is certain, you grow quickly, the way Gap wood is shaped by an axe.
There are two ways to avoid. One is study where you only passively listen to lectures. The other is long-term study that drags on vaguely without a goal. Instead, we recommend these methods.
As for environment, you concentrate well in a place where sunlight comes in, air circulates, and there are a few green plants or the sound of water, rather than a space that is too dark and dry. It is the same principle as giving water and wind to a dry tree.
Study wavers in periods when the Luck Pillar and the annual luck (歲運) touch the weak links of the Day Master. First, watch 2027 and 2028 carefully. 2027, Jeong-Mi, has the Hurting Officer rising in the heavens and the Twelve Life Stage of Tomb (墓), so you have the will but your energy is easily trapped inside, and you feel stifled. 2028, Mu-Sin, has Seven Killings entering even the branch and sits in the Severance (絶) position, so outside pressure, the burden of exams and a drop in stamina may come all at once.
In such years, try handling things like this.
Among the Luck Pillars, tension may rise in the Gyeong-O Luck Pillar from age 33. Since the same energy as the hour pillar Gyeong-O comes in on top of it, you may easily feel that work, study and responsibility are all piling up at once. At this time it is better to reduce your priorities and finish things one at a time. Also, in the Jeong-Myo (丁卯) Luck Pillar after age 63, wood energy grows strong again, so you may become more stubborn and narrower in the range of new information you accept. An attitude of learning from juniors and the younger generation is a great help.
Wavering is not the end; it is the process of a tree getting through the winter. If you use it as a time to put down deep roots, you will grow straighter in the next spring. From 2029 the flow eases noticeably, so the key is to keep going without giving up until then.
For you, learning is not decoration; it is closer to the central axis of your life. A chart with a strong Day Master and empty Resource stars has great innate power but lacks the water that sets the direction for where to use it. The process of drawing that water yourself over a lifetime is itself study. For you, learning goes beyond accumulating knowledge; it is also a way of coming to know who you are and of calming your mind.
It is especially meaningful that your Useful God is Earth (土). Earth means trust, stability and center. You are most at ease when what you have learned leads to a real foundation in life, that is, to work, trust and stability. The value of study comes alive when it is used in work and relationships, rather than remaining a hobby detached from reality. So the more the earth luck comes in from middle age on, the stronger the tendency for learning to return as fruit.
That this is a chart with weak help from Nobles also means that your growth mostly happens on a road you made yourself. At first it may feel lonely. But the skill polished that way becomes your own share, which no one can take away. Later, that experience is likely to turn into the power to teach and lead other people. This is because the talent of the Hurting Officer connects to teaching and expression.
Please remember just one thing. You are not someone who gets there in one go, but a tree that, even when shaken, stretches upward again. There is a study that fits each period, so do not rush; walk on while asking yourself what water you need now. As long as you do not stop learning, this chart is closer to one that grows deeper as time goes on.
Your Day Master (日干) is Gap wood (甲木). It is a great tree that, once it has chosen a direction, grows straight upward. Beside this tree there are two fires. The O fire (午火) in the day branch and in the hour branch each carries the energy of the Hurting Officer (傷官). So your talent tends to show itself as the power to take the plans in your head and bring them out as words and results. You are strong at persuasion, planning, expression, demonstration and teaching, that is, at "bringing what is inside you out into the world."12
The Gyeong metal (庚金) in the hour stem is Seven Killings (偏官), and beneath it sits O fire. It is a structure in which fire melts metal and forges it into a usable tool. This is commonly called Output controlling the Killings (食傷制殺), a configuration in which your skill becomes sharper, not weaker, when you meet pressure and rules13. When there is a deadline, a demanding client, or when you are told "this will never work," the power to do the job even better comes out.
It is also good to know that your Day Master is strong and that there is not a single Water (水) among your five elements. Since there are no Resource stars (印星), learning by running into things directly suits you better than following other people's teaching or a manual for a long time. However, a fire with no water to cool it heats up easily. Your ideas come fast, but your power to organize and to rest may be relatively weak.
To sum up, your talent is "expressiveness and drive that sharpen their edge under pressure." You are closer to the hands-on type who grows by speaking, making and fixing in the field than to the scholar type who digs into one thing for a long time. But this is only the outline of a possibility. Whatever work you do, you can take it that your talent comes most alive when the work has "a stretch where you show the result directly with your own words and hands."
What this chart needs is Earth (土), the Useful God (用神). Earth is the Wealth star (財星), and in real life it means income, contracts, structure and steadiness. In a chart with strong wood, earth is also the soil that holds a firmly rooted tree so that it does not sway easily. Your chart now has Sul earth (戌土) and the Gi earth (己土) inside O fire, but the amount is not generous. So to turn your talent into money and achievement, you have to consciously build "earth habits."
The first is recording and settling accounts. For you, the habit of putting a job's rate, deadline and contract terms in writing is as important as talent. People with a strong Hurting Officer often promise in words first and get into trouble later. The second is a partner. Since you have no Resource stars, it is hard for you to regulate your own pace, so having someone calm, such as a business partner or a manager who takes charge of schedules and numbers, makes a big difference to your results. The third is putting rest time into your schedule. A chart without water tends to accumulate burnout quietly. We recommend cooling the heat once a day with activities that resemble water energy, such as walking, bathing or swimming.
There is one more thing. Because your day branch is in the Death (死) position of the Twelve Life Stages (十二運星), energy tends to stagnate when you hold on to one job for a long time. In this structure, the right way is to break work into small pieces, produce results often, and move on to the next stage each time. Piling up many small results works better than one big hit.
Among Korea's real-world tracks, we first recommend the self-employed or start-up type (Indirect Wealth + Output stars). This is because your Output stars are strong and the Wealth star is your Useful God. Second, the freelancer or creator type (Hurting Officer + Eating God) suits you well14. Conversely, because you have no Resource stars and a weak Direct Officer, a path like the state civil-service exam (gosi) or public-servant exam type, where you endure for years memorizing in one direction, may be hard for your constitution. That does not mean exams are impossible. If you do take one, it is better to approach it as a short, intensive qualification.
The specific fields are these.
By type, you are closer to the freelancer or one-person founder than to someone who conforms to hierarchy in a large organization. Even if you belong to an organization, a team with clear units of output, a place with many independent projects, or a position with wide discretion such as an in-house venture is better.
This chart has no conspicuous Nobles, starting with the Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人). Since no Noble sits in any pillar from childhood to old age, we read it as hard for you to meet someone who pulls you up automatically through a fixed, direct line. Instead, it is a structure in which you gain as much as you go out and seek.
Then what kind of people help? First, people with earth energy. These are calm, quiet people who are good with numbers and promises. An accounting person, a senior colleague skilled in administration, or a craftsman-type figure who has done the same work for a long time fits here. They fill in the stability you lack. Second, people with water energy. These are mentors, researchers, writers and counselors who think deeply and advise quietly. Their role is to cool your heat.
Put in terms of the hierarchy of Korean organizations, it goes like this. A senior from another department, a former mentor from a previous job, or an older person met at an industry gathering is more likely to open a decisive path than your official direct boss or assigned mentor. In school terms, it is an outside senior you happened to get to know rather than your homeroom teacher or academic adviser. So do not build your network only within one company, and keep a few people with whom you stay in touch even after you leave. Study groups, association meetings, industry communities and making your portfolio public online are also good channels for meeting people.
But the weaker the Nobles in a chart, the more important the "skill of asking" for help becomes. The Hurting Officer has strong pride and tends to find words of asking for help difficult. Try practicing asking about just one specific thing.
Your branches are Sin (申), Sul (戌), O (午) and O (午). Let us translate them into zodiac signs.
First, O-O (午午) is a self-punishment (自刑) in which the same character overlaps and the two provoke each other. So the person you are most likely to clash with is actually yourself. Hasty words, overheated schedules and the habit of carrying everything alone hold you back. Among outside people, be careful with a boss or colleague born in the Tiger year. Because of the In-Sin clash (寅申沖), first meetings are intense and disagreements frequent. But the Tiger also forms the In-O-Sul three-harmony combination (三合) with O and Sul, so in a project sharing the same goal you can become an unexpectedly strong team. The spark of conflict arises at the stage of aimless small talk.
With a boss born in the Rat year, because of the Ja-O clash (子午沖), your values are likely to run head-on against each other. It is the shape of water putting out fire, so they may press down your passion as "too much." With people born in the Dragon year, the Jin-Sul clash (辰戌沖) means your ways of working differ and you often miss each other, and with people born in the Ox year, the Chuk-O harm (丑午害) makes a relationship that looks fine on the surface while hurt feelings pile up behind it. With people born in the Goat year, the influence of the Chuk-Sul-Mi three punishments (三刑) makes it easy for both sides to get edgy, but because of the O-Mi combination (午未合) you get along well personally. With people born in the Rooster year, the Yu-Sul harm (酉戌害) means you quietly compete for the lead, and with people born in the Pig year, the Sin-Hae harm (申亥害) means misunderstandings, once they arise, are hard to resolve.
Conversely, people born in the Dog year work well with you because of the O-Sul half combination. A colleague born in the Goat year is also likely to be friendly.
The prescription is simple. With someone you clash with, do not start with words; start with documents and schedules. When opinions divide, do not answer on the spot; it is better to let a night pass. A chart with overlapping fire gets hurt most when it reacts immediately.
Your Luck Pillars (大運) run in reverse and change in ten-year units from age 3, by Korean age. Gye-Yu (癸酉) and Im-Sin (壬申) are the school years and early life, and Sin-Mi (辛未) begins at 23. Sin-Mi is a luck that brings the Direct Officer (正官) Sin metal (辛金) and the Direct Wealth (正財) Mi earth (未土) together. It is a good period for settling into society and setting up your first job and income structureM1.
The Gyeong-O (庚午) Luck Pillar from age 33 brings in the same characters as the hour pillar. Pressure and responsibility are heavy and work piles up, but it is the period when the power of Output controlling the Killings is used most strongly. It suits proving your expertise in one field rather than changing jobs, and it is also good for preparing to go independent16. But you must be careful about overwork.
The Gi-Sa (己巳) Luck Pillar at 43 and the Mu-Jin (戊辰) Luck Pillar at 53 are periods when earth, the Useful God, comes in and wealth luck opens. They are favorable for starting a business, expanding one, and sorting out assets. One thing to note is that Sa (巳) and Jin (辰) are this chart's Void (空亡). The substance may not follow as much as you expect, so it is safer to check contracts and cash flow carefully. The Jeong-Myo (丁卯) Luck Pillar at 63 is a period for sorting out and passing on rather than new workM2.
The next five years can be seen like this. 2026, Byeong-O (丙午), is a year when the Eating God and the Hurting Officer come together, so ideas and expression are abundant but energy leaks easily. 2027, Jeong-Mi (丁未), brings in Direct Wealth and is good for linking your skills to income. 2029, Gi-Yu (己酉), is a year when Direct Wealth and Direct Officer gather, so it is most favorable for promotion, formal contracts, earning qualifications and a stable position. 2030, Gyeong-Sul (庚戌), brings Seven Killings and Indirect Wealth together and gives strength to new projects or expansion. Now (autumn 2026), it is better to use your time preparing for 2027 than to go through with a big job change.
The year to be most careful about is 2028, Mu-Sin (戊申). Indirect Wealth in the stem and Seven Killings in the branch come together, and the Twelve Life Stage is Severance (絶), the weakest position. Work is likely to pile up all at once, pressure from bosses or from outside grows, and you may feel your plans being cut off once. 2026 and 2027 are also years considered unfavorable, since their Twelve Life Stages are Death (死) and Tomb (墓), so you can understand it as energy gradually going down and passing the bottom in 2028. From 2029 the flow turns.
In a Korean workplace, two things commonly happen at such a time. One is being passed over for promotion or receiving a poor evaluation, and the other is a department transfer or an atmosphere of being pushed to resign, or, if you are a freelancer, the sudden end of a contract with a major client. People with a strong Hurting Officer often voice their complaints directly at this point and lose relationships badly. So in 2028, say less and record more. If you organize your emails and records of achievement, you will have bargaining power whatever result comes.
The life prescriptions are these. First, before this period, set aside at least six months of living expenses in cash. Second, do not start a new business or make a big investment in 2028; postpone it to 2029. Third, bring water energy into your daily life. Habits that cool the heat, such as swimming, reading, keeping a diary or counseling, become your safety valve. Fourth, if a question of taking leave or returning to work comes up, do not decide alone; ask an outside mentor once.
A hard year is also a year that ends. Just as the earth becomes firm only after the fire dies down, a person who spends this period sorting out and preparing can start again from a far more stable position after 2029.
The stem 癸 (Gye) of the first Luck Pillar is Direct Resource (正印) for you, a Gap wood (甲木) person. It is the period when water, of which your chart has none, flows in for the first time. Like dew forming on a young stem, the energy of care and learning comes first and wets the roots of the mind. Since it is the first water to enter a chart with no water, it tends to help emotional stability and a feel for learning in childhood.
The branch 酉 (Yu) meets 申 (Sin) and 戌 (Sul) in the natal chart and forms the 申酉戌 Metal (金) directional combination (方合). With 庚 (Gyeong) already in the hour stem (時干), it is the shape of metal energy gathering all at once. 酉 also forms a break (破) with the 午 (O) of the day and hour branches, and a harm (害) with the month branch 戌. These three tend to show up as small creaks in the household atmosphere, sensitivity, and subtle hurt feelings with peers or family. They are closer to fine ripples weighing on the mind than to major events. Since the Day Master is strong, the chart does not break even when metal gathers, but childlike stubbornness and sensitivity may rise together.
What to be careful of is overprotection or comparison that comes too early. Direct Resource luck shines when there is something to lean on, so a stable daily routine such as regular sleep and meals is a great strength. It is even better if there is one adult nearby you can lean on when you want to. Things worth leaning on are play that absorbs you quietly, such as reading, a musical instrument or drawing. Since water is precious in this chart, the learning habits built in this period are likely to become a lasting asset.
The attitude to keep in this period is "the courage to receive." Remember that accepting help is not weakness but a way of putting down deep roots.
The stem 壬 (Im) is Indirect Resource (偏印). It is learning with a more distinctive grain than Direct Resource, so it brings the power to dig into your own interests rather than a set path. It is a wave of curiosity and imagination suited to adolescence and the threshold of youth. However, when Resource stars (印星) are added to a chart whose Day Master is already strong, a side may appear in which thoughts multiply and action slows. It means the roots may lift, like a young tree that has drunk too much water.
The branch 申 (Sin) is the same character as the year branch, so it becomes Fu Yin (伏吟). It is the shape of childhood themes rising once more in repetition. 申 is also Seven Killings (偏官), so it is a period when outside pressure and discipline grow strong. The clash (沖) pattern between the 庚 of the hour stem and 甲 is also stimulated again. It tends to show up as tension around entrance exams, evaluations, or teachers and seniors, and you should also guard against a perfectionism that drives yourself hard. Since 申 and 戌 connect into metal energy, in the body it is good to watch the respiratory system, the skin and tension headaches.
What to lean on is the habit of choosing one interest and digging deep. Since 壬 water (壬水) cools the heat of 午 fire (午火), writing, foreign languages and exploratory hobbies help lower the temperature of the mind17. Conversely, if you only roll worries around in your head, the swamp of thought deepens, so be sure to add exercise that moves the body. Hurt feelings or comparisons that come from among peers are better worked out in a diary.
The value of this period is "turning thought into action." The more often you pile up small actions, the more this water becomes a force that grows the roots.
This Luck Pillar is the first period in which Earth (土), your Useful God (用神), comes in in earnest. The stem 辛 (Sin) is Direct Officer (正官), a sign of social role, responsibility and recognition, and for a woman also of the door to relationships opening. The branch 未 (Mi) is the ground of Direct Wealth (正財). It forms the 午未 six-harmony combination (六合) with the two 午 (O) of the day and hour branches, so that warm earth wraps around a dry flame. It is a flow in which the balance the chart has long waited for is achieved.
With the month branch 戌 (Sul), a punishment (刑) arises, so not everything is smooth. There may be small conflicts at work, worries about changing jobs or moving, and friction coming from family matters. But since this is a Luck Pillar in which the Useful God gains strength, such friction is mostly closer to growing pains. In this period the direction of your first job is likely to be set, the foundation of your income laid, and you are likely to meet people you can trust.
What to lean on is steady job skills and a saving habit. Direct Officer luck rewards those who keep the rules. As earth holds fire, the system of your work and your schedule protect you. What to be careful of is hurrying. In a period of combination (合), it is easy to grab hastily at people and conditions, so it is good to have the leeway to wait about three months on both contracts and relationships. Since this is a chart with weak Nobles, the skill you built yourself is your most reliable backer.
The attitude to keep in this period is "diligent building." If you steadily gather small trust, it becomes the foundation that supports all the Luck Pillars that follow.
The stem 庚 (Gyeong) is Seven Killings (偏官) and a character already in the hour stem. The branch 午 (O) is the same character as the day and hour branches, so the chart comes to have three 午. It is a period when fire energy thickens all at once, and 午午 also has the nature of self-punishment (自刑). The Red Glamour star (紅艷殺) also repeats, so while charm, emotional waves and attraction in relationships grow strong, it is easy to wear yourself out. It is the shape of sparks falling three times on dry firewood, so the light is great, but left too long the firewood burns quickly.
午 is also the energy of the Hurting Officer (傷官). While expressiveness, creativity and a way with words blossom suddenly, friction with bosses or the organization may grow18. 庚 is also a character that clashes with 甲, so there are times when pressure and responsibility at work pile up all at once. Fire melts metal, so you have the strength to endure pressure, but for health you should watch the heart, blood pressure and insomnia. That this Luck Pillar has no water also means there is no proper place to cool the heat.
What to lean on is turning expression into a profession19. Work that creates value with words and ideas, such as lecturing, content, counseling and planning, suits you. What to be careful of is decisions made when your emotions are running high. Decide on quitting, a breakup or a big purchase only after sleeping on it for a night. The habit of resting in cold seasons like winter, and of releasing heat by walking by the water or swimming, is a great help.
The attitude to keep in this period is "regulating your speed." It is a period not for shrinking the flame but for turning it into a fire that burns long.
The stem 己 (Gi) is Direct Wealth (正財), and Earth (土), your Useful God, appears clearly in the stem. 甲 and 己 are characters bound by the Gap-Gi combination (甲己合), so it is a flow in which wealth and a real foundation are drawn toward you. However, since the chart has three 甲, it takes the shape of competing over a single 己, so you may have to share opportunities or interests between people may become entangled. A combination is a good connection and also a binding, so check contracts and partnership terms carefully.
The branch 巳 (Sa) is both a six-harmony combination and a punishment (刑) with 申, forms a bond of fire with 午, and has the awkwardness of Grudge (怨嗔) with 戌. On top of that, 巳 is a character of the Void (空亡), so it may take time for the results you expected to come into your hands. Even if achievements in front of you feel as if they are floating in the air, your effort does not vanish; it tends to become real late. Since fire energy rises again, caution is needed about overwork and heat-related health problems.
What to lean on is a stable income structure. Steady wealth such as a salary, rent or a professional qualification suits you. Avoid speculation that tries to multiply money all at once, and guarantees without collateral. In the middle of life, the wisdom of keeping what you have built well brings a greater reward. In relationships, the more someone forms a combination with you, the more clearly you should draw lines.
The attitude to keep in this period is "keeping your feet on reality." If you accept waiting as maturing rather than wasted time, wealth opens up solidly.
The stem 戊 (Mu) is Indirect Wealth (偏財), and the branch 辰 (Jin) is also the energy of the same ground, so it is a period when the Wealth stars (財星) pile up layer upon layer. Earth, your Useful God, comes in at its thickest, but 辰 forms a clash (沖) with the month branch 戌. It is the shape of the ground turning over and hidden things coming to light, so themes such as settling property, real estate, and shares among family members may come to the fore. 辰 also belongs to the Void, so a gap between expectation and reality may open once more.
There is a good side too. 辰 is the storehouse of water, and when it meets 申 it forms a Water (水) half combination (半合). When the storehouse door opens through the clash, the water energy you have lacked all your life comes in for a while. A change may come in which your mind opens toward emotional depth, rest, wisdom and learning. It is also a transition period around retirement, when your work or position changes20.
What to be careful of are the body's signals related to earth, such as the digestive system, stomach and skin, and sudden decisions coming from the clash. Make a big move or the disposal of assets only after discussing it fully with your family. Since it is Indirect Wealth luck, wealth sometimes follows from meeting people and giving, but you must be careful about starting too many businesses or lending money to acquaintances. What to lean on is a mentoring role in which you share the experience you have built, and small, stable activities.
The attitude to keep in this period is "emptying and putting in order." As seeds are sown after the ground is turned over once, once the sorting is done the next ten years become much lighter.
The stem 丁 (Jeong) is the Hurting Officer (傷官). The energy of pursuing your aims, enjoying and expressing returns like a soft candle flame. It is also a fire that melts the 庚 of the hour stem, so it is a flow in which you are released from long-held pressure and responsibility. The branch 卯 (Myo) is Rob Wealth (劫財) and the Peak (帝旺) position of 甲 wood (甲木), so the power of the tree rises to its height again. With the month branch 戌 there is a warm connection through the 卯戌 six-harmony combination, but with 申 there is Grudge and with 午 a break (破), so there are also moments when the grain of the heart goes askew.
When Companions (比劫) increase in a chart whose Day Master is already strong, stubbornness grows, and competitiveness or money problems with colleagues, siblings and friends tend to appear. There is also a tendency for more money to go to sharing, or for spending to leak because you cannot refuse acquaintances' requests. Since this Luck Pillar has no water, also take care of the eyes, skin and joints, which tend to dry out.
What to lean on is sharing your hobbies with people. Activities in which expression itself becomes joy, such as gatherings, volunteering, writing and gardening, suit you. Hurting Officer luck can also sharpen your words, so with people close to you, slow down a beat and say things gently. Keep your finances simple, and avoid guarantees or joint investments. In this period, keeping and enjoying is more beneficial than earning.
The attitude to keep in this period is "relaxed sharing." It is not about breaking your strength; if you use it lightly, body and mind are at ease together.
The stem 丙 (Byeong) is the Eating God (食神), the energy of fortune in eating, enjoying and giving comfortably. Just as the sun shines warmly until late afternoon, satisfaction in daily life tends to grow. The branch 寅 (In) is Friend (比肩) and the Prosperity (建祿) position of 甲 wood, so the center of the body becomes firm again, and old friends and those close to you tend to gather around you. When 寅 comes in, it completes the 寅午戌 Fire three-harmony combination (三合) together with 午 and 戌, and the flames of the Output stars (食傷) cover the whole chart broadly.
However, 寅 forms a clash (沖) with the year branch 申. Themes related to childhood roots, your hometown and old connections may be shaken again. A move, sorting things out with siblings or relatives, or facing old memories may occur. 丙 also collides with 庚, so pay attention to sudden falls, joints and bone health.
The biggest task is the lack of water. When the fire of the three-harmony combination is large, heat tends to build up in the heart, blood pressure, eyes and sleep. Make drinking water a habit, drink lukewarm water often rather than hot tea, and avoid overeating and stimulating food. What to lean on is light walking, meals with those close to you, and small handwork pastimes. The peace of everyday life is a greater asset than starting something bigM3.
The attitude to keep in this period is "gratitude and ease." For someone who does not miss small pleasures, this fire is endlessly warm.
The first two Luck Pillars are a period of learning in which water flows in; there is sensitivity, but it is a time of building roots. 辛未 (ages 23–32) is the brightest Luck Pillar. Because earth, the Useful God, wraps the chart's fire energy through the 午未 six-harmony combination, the foundations of work and relationships are most likely to be laid most smoothly. 己巳 (ages 43–52) and 戊辰 (ages 53–62) also continue the earth of wealth, but because the Void and a clash are mixed in, results tend to come slowly and changes to come big. The period that needs the most care is 庚午 (ages 33–42). Because 午 increases to three and the pressure of Seven Killings overlaps, energy is consumed fastest. In these ten years, rest, water and regulating the speed of emotions are decisive. After that, 丁卯 and 丙寅 are an old-age flow in which fire and wood thicken, and the wisdom of keeping, sharing and cooling the body's heat is needed. 乙丑 (Eul-Chuk) after age 83 may be a gentle close in which wet earth cools the fire. Overall, it is a chart in which how you regulate speed and temperature, rather than heavy events, decides the quality of life.
Your Day Master (日干) is Gap wood (甲木). It is close to a great tree standing tall, and with wood (木) placed three times in your chart, your roots are fairly firm. Your sense of stability mostly comes from these roots. Even when others shake you, you do not change direction easily, and once you have made up your mind, you tend to keep it for a long time.
However, beside this tree there is no water (水) at all. It is a picture in which the Resource stars (印星), the energy of the moisture and rest that nourish you, are empty. On the outside you are composed, but on the inside a quiet thirst of "am I being filled enough" tends to settle in. It is like a great tree standing on dry ground: green on the outside, while its roots reach deep in search of water. So in quiet moments a sense of emptiness may suddenly rise, or you may become anxious precisely when you have nothing to do.
There are two O fires (午火) in the day and hour branches, and Sul earth (戌土) in the month branch. O (午) and Sul (戌) are bound together as fire energy, so the temperature of your mind tends to rise and fall quickly. Even if you usually look calm, once your emotions heat up, the heat can spread in an instant. The Sul earth of the month branch connects to earth (土), the Useful God (用神) of your Luck Pillars, so it plays the role of a brazier that cools and holds this fire. You are someone whose mind actually becomes more orderly when you take on work or have something to be responsible for.
To put your inner weather in one line, it is a day when wind blows beneath a great tree on a clear morning and the heat rises in the afternoon. If you protect the stillness of the morning and build habits for handling the heat of the afternoon, your sense of stability lasts much longer.
Looking at the grain of your faith, this chart is closer to accepting after understanding for yourself than to the devoted type who believes and follows blindly. Gap wood is an upright, proud energy, and since the whole chart moves around wood and fire, your heart goes to a spirituality accompanied by experience and practice. You are someone who, even while reading doctrine, ends up asking, "So what changes in my life today?"
That the Resource stars are empty has a special meaning. Traditionally, the Resource stars stand for religion, scholarship and the protection of elders. When they are weak, there tends to be a search for meaning in your own way rather than deep belonging to an institutional religion. It would not be strange if you did not stay long in one community. However, since the energy of Nobles (貴人) is also read as weak, loneliness may grow if the road walked alone becomes long. This is why a teacher, a trustworthy senior, or a long-running gathering is an especially great gift for you.
It can be read that Sul (戌), the position of the Canopy star (華蓋), is placed in your month branch. The Canopy star symbolizes stillness, contemplation and religious sensitivity. Here, we hope you take it to mean that a reflective spirituality that deepens quietly suits you better than intense mystical experience. Practices that enter through body and breath, such as Zen (禪), walking prayer in nature, and philosophical reading groups suit you well.
Conversely, overly emotional and fervent groups, and structures that lean on one person's authority, are better avoided, since by the balance of the five elements they make your fire catch more easily. Rather than choosing one tradition, try making "what makes me calm" your standard.
Yours is a chart that rests best in hobbies that use the body and hands. Gap wood is an energy that grows by moving, and with fire (火) in the day and hour branches, activities in which you express yourself and become absorbed circulate your energy. Activities where the fingertips and body go together are better than hobbies done only with the head.
First, we recommend activities that touch the earth. Pottery, a vegetable garden, tending plants and playing with soil are ways of directly filling up earth (土), your Useful God. The earth calmly receives a mind heated by fire, and also gives the satisfaction of raising young stems. Second, steady rhythmic exercise such as walking, hiking and yoga suits you. Intense competitive sports can amplify the collision of fire and metal, so it is better to enjoy them without overdoing it.
Third, since your water energy is empty, time resting by the water is a great tonic. Swimming, hot springs, walks along a river or the sea, and time spent slowly steeping and drinking tea are like this. When you are close to water, the temperature of your mind drops a step. Fourth, activities such as cooking and baking, where you handle ingredients and a result appears before your eyes, also suit you well. The expressive energy of O fire flows naturally into the pleasure of eating and the joy of sharing.
What you should avoid are stimulating entertainments that run late into the night and hobbies based on excessive spending. In a chart with fire energy placed twice, pleasure easily spreads into overheating. Resting simply, by keeping one weekend day free and choosing just one of earth, water or walking, lasts a long time.
The center of creativity is the Output stars (食傷), the stars of expression. Since your structure is Gap wood giving birth to fire, O fire is exactly that position. Inside O (午) there is Jeong fire (丁火), giving it the grain of the Hurting Officer (傷官), and in this year's flow of Byeong-O (丙午) too, the Eating God (食神) and the Hurting Officer appear together in heaven and on earth. This also means it is a year in which the desire to express yourself is wide open.
This grain shows up as a delicate, sharp sense. The Hurting Officer gives a gaze that breaks frames, so your strength in writing is a frank and distinctive tone, and in speaking it is the single remark that changes the atmosphere at once. In music, a voice or instrument that cuts through the grain of emotion suits you, and in the visual arts, paintings or photographs that use color boldly. Expression that uses the body, such as performance, also has great potential. That the Red Glamour star (紅艷殺) is placed twice can be read to mean that a charm that draws people seeps into your expression. You shine especially in sensory media such as voice, expression and atmosphere.
What to watch out for is fire flaring up too fast. A pattern easily forms in which you pour everything out when inspiration comes and suddenly let go when it dries up. The Gyeong metal (庚金) in the hour branch can become a sharp editing hand, so we recommend writing the draft while hot and doing the polishing after letting it cool for a few days. Publishing often in short forms fits the speed of this chart better than digging deep into one genre21.
Your lifelong growth is, in a word, "learning how to fill." Earth (土), the Useful God, is ground and center, and means stability and trust. If a great tree tries only to reach for the sky, it easily falls; it grows long only when it meets firm soil. So your growth lies in going deeper rather than climbing higher.
Concretely, three currents are visible. One is relationships that build trust. Since this is a chart with weak Nobles, rather than waiting for someone to help you by chance, it suits you to choose a few people you will keep up with for a long time and put care into them. The second is laying the foundations of daily life. Regular sleep and meals, a financial framework, and a stable place to live connect directly to stability of mind. The third is consciously bringing in water energy. This means deliberately fitting learning and rest, that is, the Resource stars, into everyday life.
Looking at the Luck Pillars, the flow so far is a road moving from metal (金) to earth (土) and fire (火). As you reach Gyeong-O (庚午) from around age 33, Gi-Sa (己巳) at 43, and Mu-Jin (戊辰) at 53, the energy of earth gradually gains strength. In this stretch, experience becomes firm roots and life is likely to become much more stable. Where you stand now can only be told precisely with your birth year, so we recommend confirming your birth information and reading it again.
The year of 2028, Mu-Sin (戊申), may be a rough flow, so do not rush big decisions; it is better to check your foundation first. It is a period when slowing down is itself growth.
The most prominent conflict is the hint of self-punishment (自刑) formed by O-O (午午). When the same fire is placed twice, a picture of burning yourself appears. You are quick to self-criticize, and even when you do well, the flame of "I could have done better" tends not to go out. On top of this, with the Red Glamour star overlapping, a pattern is also possible in which emotions run high in relationships, or attraction and depletion come together. You are someone whose heart heats up first and whose reason follows a beat later.
The second conflict is the collision between the Gap wood Day Master and the Gyeong metal (庚金) of the hour stem. Since it is a structure in which metal strikes wood, you easily feel that outside standards or pressure are whittling you down. There are also times when you say you are fine while firmly drawing a line inside. This can become a blade that refines you rather than a weakness.
By the Twelve Life Stages, the day and hour branches are in the Death (死) position. After middle age there may be moments when your energy folds inward or your will suddenly goes out, and this is closer to a signal to rest than to an end. Since the Resource stars are empty, you may not have learned how to comfort yourself.
There are three directions for healing. A rule of postponing decisions by a day when emotions heat up, a habit of writing down "three things I did today" when self-criticism starts, and time to confide your true feelings to one trusted person. Do not try to put out the fire; if you wrap it in earth, only the warmth remains.
For you, meditation with movement lasts longer than still meditation. In a chart with two fires, sitting still tends to make thoughts heat up instead. So methods that reach the mind through the body suit you, such as walking meditation, yoga, tai chi and stretching with breathing. If you want sitting meditation, we recommend starting short, within 10 minutes, and gradually extending it.
Nature is good as a place. Beside trees, by the water and on forest paths suit you especially well, and since your water is empty, meditating while listening to a stream or the rain is like water seeping into dry ground. In the city, a window where the morning sun comes in or a spot beside a small potted plant is enough. Morning is a good time. The afternoon is when the heat of O fire rises, so inserting a five-minute breathing break after lunch to cool the heat also helps.
As for the balance of alone and together, we put it at about 70 alone and 30 together. Keep solitary practice as the base, but since this is a chart with weak Nobles, it is good to have occasions with like-minded people even once or twice a month. A quiet reading group or walking group suits you.
As actual self-care habits, we recommend keeping the body warm while avoiding overheating, drinking enough water, and turning off screens before sleep and writing your day in three lines. As for seasons, please take special care in summer. It is the time when fire overlaps, so if you deliberately put rest into your schedule, the year becomes much more comfortable.
Read as a book, your chart is the story of three Gap wood (甲木) trees standing straight on a dry hill at the very end of autumn. Gap wood stands side by side in the year, month and day pillars, so the temperament of putting out your own roots and standing by your own strength is clear. Beside them O fire (午火) burns twice, and in the hour pillar Gyeong metal (庚金) lies like a single axe. The forest tries to grow straight, the flame tries to express itself hotly, and the axe tries to trim and cut: that is the composition. Because these three face each other tautly in one place, the narrative of the young years is vivid rather than quiet, and at times breathless. Not a single drop of water (水) is visible, so the story always walks forward somewhat thirsty. Still, toward the back pages of the book, the Luck Pillars (大運) bring earth (土). Earth is this chart's Useful God (用神), the power that seats the fierce fire and the upright trees on one piece of ground. So this book is closer to the shape of a growth narrative that starts rough and deepens toward the end22. If you use the chart as a mirror for turning the light back to reflect (回光返照) and look at yourself in it, the great task you must work out in this life reads not as fortune or misfortune but as a kind of promise. This means only that there is such a tendency, not that the ending is fixed.
Looking at the four periods through the Twelve Life Stages (十二運星), the gentlest position is youth. In the month branch Sul (戌), Gap wood meets Nurture (養). Nurture is the stage in which a young tree is raised in the soil, a time when you can grow while receiving learning and help from people. Conversely, early childhood is Severance (絶), so it demands the most. It is the shape of starting on bare ground the roots cannot reach, so you may have spent a childhood with more that you cultivated yourself than you inherited. The day and hour branches are both Death (死). The name is heavy, but it is not death; it is the position where the power that was reaching outward folds inward. We read it as a tendency for life after middle age to lean toward depth and putting things in order rather than busynessM4. Let us lay this flow over the Korean life cycle. Your 20s, the period of establishing yourself (立身), lead into the Sin-Mi (辛未) Luck Pillar (from 23), and the neatness of the Direct Officer (正官) becomes a strength. Your 30s, the period of standing on your own, correspond to the Gyeong-O (庚午) Luck Pillar (from 33). Seven Killings (偏官) and fire crowd in all at once, making it the most breathless stretch, so carrying one thing for a long time is better than overexpanding. In your 40s, the period of stability, the Gi-Sa (己巳) Luck Pillar (from 43) arrives and earth, the Useful God, comes in. In your 50s, the period of afterglow, the Mu-Jin (戊辰) Luck Pillar (from 53) comes and stability deepens further. In your 60s, the period of gathering in, the Jeong-Myo (丁卯) Luck Pillar (from 63) follows. If you see the brightest periods as youth and your 40s to 50s, and the most demanding periods as early childhood and your 30s, the big picture comes into view.
The first is self-reliance (自立). With three Gap wood and a strong Day Master, you tend to feel at ease in a place where you judge and take responsibility for yourself rather than under someone's shade. The second is expression (表現). The O fire in the day and hour branches both carry the energy of the Hurting Officer (傷官), so work that brings what is inside out, such as speaking, writing and making things by hand, becomes your breathing hole. With the Red Glamour star (紅艷殺) overlapping, charm and the heat of emotion are sometimes carried in your expression too. The third is stability (安定). That the Useful God is earth means, in the end, that your life moves toward ground to take root in, a daily life you can trust, and relationships where promises are kept. Making self-reliance grow into a firm home base rather than a lonely independence is the thread that ties these three values together. Values scatter easily if you keep them only in your mind. We recommend holding them with small rituals, such as a diary written at the same time every day or one steady piece of work.
The first task is handling the blade and the fire inside you. With the stem clash (天干沖) between Gap wood and Gyeong metal and the O-O self-punishment (自刑) overlapping, the strict gaze toward yourself (Seven Killings) and the expression trying to burst out (Hurting Officer) easily fight within one body. So that your words do not go out like a blade or flow toward cutting yourself, it is good to make a habit of sleeping on important words for a night and making decisions in the morning when emotions have cooled. Since the Disaster star (災殺) is placed twice, we hope you also double-check contracts, promises and physical overwork. The second task is to build up by yourself, in a chart without water, the power to cool and moisten. Rest, time that allows tears, walks by the water, and keeping beside you something that supplies wisdom, such as books or a teacher, all play the role of water. The Void (空亡) is Jin (辰) and Sa (巳), and since these characters are not in the natal chart, there is no empty seat. However, since the Luck Pillars of your 40s and 50s pass through Sa and Jin, the fruit you expected may feel a little hollow at the time when earth, your Useful God, comes in. At that time we recommend turning your eyes from results to the sense of accomplishment in the mind that comes from letting go and putting things in order.
To speak honestly, auspicious stars (吉星) such as the Heavenly Noble (天乙貴人) are not in the natal chart, and it does not have the pattern of the Three Wonders (三奇) either. Instead, this chart's gift lies on the side that opens when it meets its time. The Heavenly Nobles of Gap wood are Chuk (丑) and Mi (未); Mi enters in the Sin-Mi Luck Pillar (from 23) and in the year 2027, Jeong-Mi (丁未), and Chuk enters in the Eul-Chuk (乙丑) Luck Pillar after age 83. These are periods when good fortune with people comes from outside, so at those times it is fine to reach out first. The Sul earth (戌土) of the month branch is the root of the Useful God, a floor that does not collapse in the end even when things are rough. The Jeong fire (丁火) hidden inside the O fire of the day branch forms the pattern of splitting Gap to kindle Jeong (劈甲引丁), in which the axe of Gyeong metal splits Gap wood to use as kindling. It means a talent for making rough material into usable tools and works, and it is likely to stand out in work of making, teaching and refining23. In terms of Prosperity and Horse (祿馬), In (寅), the Prosperity (祿) of Gap wood, arrives in the Byeong-In (丙寅) Luck Pillar in your 70s, so it is a chart whose fortune ripens late24. As for a nearer season, the year 2030, Gyeong-Sul (庚戌), has the favorable energy of Nurture (養), so the flow may open up once. It is even better to collect yourself each year at the late-summer turn of seasons, when the energy of earth is thick.
Thank you for reading this far. Your chart was the shape of a tree trying to stand straight, a fire trying to speak hotly, and an axe trying to trim, all gathered in one place. It is not an easy composition, but by the same token it means that a great deal is alive in one person. In some years you will be short of breath and in some years the road will open brightly, and while you move between the two, earth, your Useful God, will little by little make the ground under your feet firm.
Now and then, sit at your desk with a glass of warm water and slowly catch your breath. Since this is a chart short of water, that one glass becomes a small symbol. When your words try to run ahead, pause for a beat, and when loneliness rises, remember the years when Nobles come in and try sending a greeting first. The choice is always in your hands.
A Saju chart does not decide your fate; it is a map for living well.
The numbers match the badges in the text above. The upper line is what the reading said; the lower line is the documented fact.
Showing only the hits would make this an advertisement, not evidence. Below are passages where the same reading was plainly wrong. In the text they are not hazed; they are marked with a dotted line.
This is a post-hoc comparison. We picked the passages that fit a life we already know. It does not mean that someone handed these eight characters in 1884 could have said she would lead the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 64.
Passages that miss are marked too. They are collected at the end of section 04, and in the text they are left unhazed with a dotted line. The reading took her sixties as a time for sorting out and passing on, and her seventies as a time of quiet; in fact she took on her largest work in those years. Showing only the hits would make this an advertisement, not evidence.
Charts with the same structure are common. A strong chart with three Gap wood and no water is not rare, and most people who have one never wrote a column or went to the UN. The text also still contains passages written for a living Korean user, such as year-by-year forecasts for 2026 to 2030 and advice about Korean workplaces and qualification exams.
Health, death, private life and family relationships are not covered. The passages on health advice, the Red Glamour star, the spouse palace, parents and children carry no match marks. Using a real person's chart to discuss illness, death, marriage or family has neither a basis nor any decency. The comparison cites only the public record: writing, activism and public office.
Birth data. Astro-Databank rates 11:00 as AA on the basis of the birth record in hand (supplied by Joan Negus), and the family record printed in Archibald MacLeish's The Eleanor Roosevelt Story (1965) gives the same time. We found no source giving a different time.
What can be reproduced is the calculation. The time correction, the stems and branches, the Luck Pillar ages and the conditions under which each symbolic star applies: anyone using the same inputs gets the same results. What comes after that is interpretation.
The text above was not written specially for this page. It is exactly what Orienteller's in-depth reading produced when given one chart. The same engine takes a date, time and place of birth and writes to the same depth.
Before that, it gets the time right. It corrects for daylight saving time, longitude and the equation of time, judges the 節氣 (solar terms) in a separate frame, and tells you how many minutes remain to the nearest double-hour boundary. A clock that reads exactly 11:00, as this one did, cannot tell you which side of the boundary it is on until the time is corrected.

Saju is not a tool that tells a fixed future. It is an old language for reading the arrangement of a person's temperament and the grain of the times they move through. Orienteller's work is to translate that language accurately.
