01How this reading was produced

When a Saju reading seems accurate, there are usually two possible reasons. Either it really was accurate, or the reader already knew the answer. Unless the second possibility is ruled out, any comparison that follows means nothing. So we state the conditions of generation first.

Before generating, we searched all 8 prompts for 1940, San Francisco, 샌프란시스코, Lee, 이소룡, 李小龍, 브루스 리, Lee Jun Fan, 이준판, Hong Kong, 홍콩, Jeet Kune Do and 절권도, and confirmed there was not a single hit. That is why the reading describes its Luck Pillars by age only, with no years. We added the years afterwards. The reading counts age the Korean way, so a Luck Pillar starting at age N begins in the year 1940 + N − 1.

To be clear, this is a post-hoc comparison. We already know his life, and we picked the passages that fit it. It is not a prediction. Section 05 below says more about this limit.

02Birth time correction

In November 1940 San Francisco kept Pacific Standard Time (PST, UTC−8). United States War Time, the wartime daylight saving, began on 9 February 1942, so there was no daylight saving on this date. The 07:12 in the birth record is a standard-time clock, not local mean time. Moving it to solar time takes two adjustments. PST is set on the 120° W meridian, but San Francisco lies at 122.42° W, so the sun crosses the meridian later there (−9.67 min). On the other hand, late November is the stretch of the year when the equation of time is at its largest positive value, so the sun runs ahead of the clock (+11.71 min).

The two corrections nearly cancel, and the net shift is only +2.04 minutes. 卯時 runs from 05:00 to 07:00 and 辰時 from 07:00 to 09:00. The corrected 07:14 is 辰時, and the margin to the 07:00 boundary with 卯時 is 14.0 minutes. Had the birth been recorded 15 minutes earlier, the hour pillar would change. Correct for longitude but forget the equation of time, and you get 07:02, a margin of only 2.3 minutes.

Here is what would change on the other side of the boundary.

The reading mentions the Three Wonders of Heaven many times, and matches 9 and 10 in section 04 rest on those passages. That arrangement exists only because the time falls 14 minutes past 07:00. The accuracy of the recorded birth time is the heaviest assumption in this whole report.

03The full reading

Below is the text Orienteller's in-depth reading actually produced for this chart, translated from the Korean original. The engine writes in Korean; the translation follows it sentence by sentence and adds nothing. Edits to the Korean original, if any, are limited to the form of address produced by the blank name field and obvious typos; the footer gives the exact count. Only the passages confirmed by the record are left sharp; the rest is hazed. To read the whole text, turn off the switch below.

The Four Pillars of Saju (四柱)

From the outside, your chart looks like one great tree standing in the middle of a hill of earth. And on it hangs a single small lamp at the start of winter.

The pillar of the year you were born is Gyeong-jin (庚辰). Gyeong (庚), which is Yang Metal (陽金), sits in heaven, and Jin (辰), the year of the Dragon (龍), sits on the earth. The environment of your childhood likely carried the firm, disciplined energy of metal, and under it you may have learned early on how to shoulder something. The pillar of the month you were born is Jeong-hae (丁亥). Jeong (丁), which is Yin Fire (陰火), is lit like a candle, and beneath it lies Hae (亥), the water of winter. It means the landscape of your young adulthood, as you step out into society, is a place where fire and water, passion and coolness, meet.

Your center, the Day Pillar (日柱), is Gap-sul (甲戌). The Day Master (日干), Gap (甲), is Yang Wood (陽木): a great tree rising straight up. Below it, Sul (戌) is dry earth, and it is also a storehouse that keeps the energy of fire tucked away. The pillar of the hour you were born is Mu-jin (戊辰). Mu (戊), which is Yang Earth (陽土), stands like a mountain, and beneath it the moist earth of Jin (辰) once again holds it up.

If you draw the four pillars as a single scene, it looks like this. Earth is piled thick on every side, and in the very middle of it a single tree is searching for a place to put down roots. Above there is an energy like the blade of a metal (金) axe, beside it there is a small flame, and underground flows winter water. It is a composition in which a sense of responsibility, a feel for money, and a desire for expression are all contained in one person at once.

Several noble stars also accompany this chart. There are the Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人), the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人), and the Golden Carriage (金輿), and there are also the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇), formed by Gap, Mu and Gyeong gathered side by side. It is a frame in which learning, dignity, and a helping hand in times of crisis tend to follow you. However, because there is a lot of earth, the tree can feel stifled, so this whole reading will be read with a focus on how you handle that weight.

Luck Pillars (大運) and the Flow of the Five Elements (五行)

The distribution of the five elements (五行) is one wood, one fire, four earth, one metal and one water. The strongest energy is Earth (土), and no element is completely empty. All five energies show their faces, but earth speaks with a voice as loud as the other four combined. It is a chart with a lean to one side, but no lack.

The strength of the Day Master, Gap wood, is seen as ranging from the weak side to close to balanced. The root of Gap wood is hidden inside Hae (亥) of your birth month, and traces of Eul wood (乙木) remain in Jin (辰) as well, so it is not entirely without roots. But the roots are thin for breaking through the earth on all sides, and on top of that comes the pressure of the metal above trying to trim the tree. So the tree's weariness comes not from a lack of strength but from carrying too much.

The Useful God (用神) is Water (水). Water moistens the roots of the tree, loosens the hardened earth, and cools the excessive dryness of Sul earth (戌土). It is like how roots finally breathe when a stream of rain falls on hard ground. In daily life, an environment close to water, study and reading, and an attitude of accepting other people's advice are the ways to use your Useful God.

The Luck Pillars (大運) run forward and begin at age 5. Mu-ja (戊子) hands you water energy once in childhood, and at Gi-chuk (己丑) the earth grows heavy again. Ages 25 to 44, continuing through Gyeong-in (庚寅) and Sin-myo (辛卯), are a period when the tree's roots break through the ground and your stage of activity widens.3 Since the pressure of metal comes along too, it is likely a stretch in which you take on a lot of responsibility and evaluation.

After that, ages 45 to 64 under Im-jin (壬辰) and Gye-sa (癸巳) are when water energy comes in, the most welcome flow for you. It reads as a period when what you have built up matures and your mind softens. After that, Gap-o (甲午) and Eul-mi (乙未) bring wood and fire back to life, supporting your expressiveness and ease in the later half of life. The Luck Pillars are only the tendency of the weather; which umbrella you carry out the door is your choice.

Reading the Day Master (日干) (1): who you are

The Day Pillar Gap-sul (甲戌) is often compared to a great tree standing on a mountain slope. Gap wood has the nature of being straight and wanting to stretch upward, and Sul earth is high, dry ground. So you give the impression of someone who does not easily take the comfortable road, but sets your own direction and climbs. Rather than waiting for others to pave the way, you are the type who walks it yourself and learns by running into things.1

Sul (戌) is also a storehouse of fire, so even if you look calm on the outside, it is as if there is a brazier inside you that never goes out. You do not show your passion carelessly, but toward a task or a person you have once taken to heart, you tend to hold it warmly for a long time. Since there is also Jeong fire (丁火) in the month stem, a surprisingly delicate sensitivity and a desire for expression may be hidden in you.

Inside Sul earth, Mu earth (戊土), Sin metal (辛金) and Jeong fire (丁火) are contained together. This means that within you, a feel for money, principle, and warmth speak at the same time in different voices. So even if you look like a simple person on the outside, your thoughts have many layers inside. Even in deciding one thing, you probably have a habit of weighing realistic calculation and the temperature of your heart in turn.

The Twelve Life Stage (十二運星) of the day branch is Nurture (養). Like the period of growing slowly in the womb, it can be read as meaning you are the type who builds strength on the inside rather than rushing. Even when visible results appear late, in many cases you are still growing inside. That is why the more you compare your pace with others, the easier it is to become needlessly anxious.

If I may offer one piece of advice: your straightness is a great strength, but the straighter the tree, the more it needs to practice bending before the wind. The habit of pausing for a beat when opinions differ and trying to say "That could be true" will protect the grain of the tree for a long time.

Reading the Day Master (日干) (2): the grain of your everyday life

Your day runs neatly and in an orderly way on the outside, but its pace may be surprisingly uneven. Because this is a chart heavy with earth, it takes time to get started, and once started, you keep going steadily. If you have a ritual for waking your body in the morning, the whole day becomes much lighter.

Your taste in surroundings lies between stability and openness. People with a lot of earth feel at ease in familiar places, set routines, and trustworthy things. But you are a tree, so if you are shut in a stuffy room for a long time, you wilt. A space with large windows, plants, and outside air flowing in suits you well. It is also worth keeping in mind that your chart has two Heaven Net (天羅) stars, a net of the sky, so your mood is easily pressed down when you feel blocked. At such times, it is better to deliberately walk or change where you are.

What you naturally reach for are organized plans, reliable tools, and things that are practically useful. Because the earth of Indirect Wealth (偏財) is plentiful, you have an eye for reading the flow of money and goods, and you may be drawn to buying, collecting, or putting things to work. On the other hand, piling up too much makes both your home and your mind heavy, so the habit of letting go of a few things each time the season changes is a good one.

What wears you out are unpredictable whims, situations where you bear responsibility but have no decision-making power, and meaningless repetitive chores. When these pile up, you talk less and want to be alone, and that may be a signal that you need rest.

The best tonic in daily life is time close to water. When small rituals add up, like drinking warm water at a fixed time of day or closing the day with a shower, the tree pressed down by earth catches its breath. On weekends, try fitting in an open place like a walking trail or a riverside now and then.

Reading the Day Master (日干) (3): how you act under pressure

When pressure comes, you first try to grasp the situation as a structure. You tend to quickly sort out who is in charge, what the real problem is, and how far your own share goes. The Jeong fire in the month stem shines a small light beside you, giving the impression of someone in whom a thread of reason remains even when emotions run high.

Your decisions are realistic. With a lot of earth in your chart, you are the type to calculate loss and gain, time and cost first. However, because you have the pride of Gap wood, even when something is advantageous by the numbers, if you feel it goes against your principles, you may step back with surprising firmness. In that moment, the people around you may feel you are suddenly being stubborn, so if you explain your reason in even one sentence, misunderstandings decrease.

When conflict arises, rather than clashing head-on right away, you tend to first close your mouth and sort things out inside.M2 Just as Sul earth holds fire, it is common for you to be quiet on the outside but boiling on the inside. Then, when you reach your limit, a short, sharp remark may come out. So when emotions rise, a method that suits you well is not to answer right away, but to give it a day or so and sort it out in writing.

Your eye for reading others is quite realistic. You tend to judge people by their actions and how they finish their work rather than by their words, so you keep your distance from slick promises and give your trust to people who quietly get things done. Because there is the energy of metal pressing down from above, you tend to get tense around people with authority or in situations where you are being evaluated. At such times, if you reframe the other person not as someone testing you but as someone giving you information, the tension in your body loosens.

When pressure goes on for a long time, use the way of water, your Useful God. That means talking with a trusted advisor, stepping back from the situation through study or research, and sleeping enough. Like rain falling on hard ground, a gentle intervention often unlocks a blocked problem better.2

Reading the Day Master (日干) (4): your innate temperament

Before being refined by experience, you read as having a straight and responsible temperament. You may have stepped forward to take care of things like the eldest child from an early age, or been told you were mature for your age. The Year Pillar Gyeong-jin (庚辰) placed discipline and expectations on you from an early time, and its Twelve Life Stage is Decline (衰), so the energy of your childhood may have been carefully held down rather than bursting out freely.

In exchange, the position of your young adulthood is Long Life (長生). It is the image of a tree sprouting anew from Hae (亥) in the month branch, so the flow is one where your energy comes more and more alive from the time you step out into society. At a young age you were cautious and attentive to others' moods, but after you begin making your own way, your confidence often grows noticeably.

Underneath your temperament lies a thirst for learning. The Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) is a star that finds fulfillment in study, research, and honing skills, and the Im water (壬水) inside Hae water (亥水) is a spring of knowledge and contemplation. So curiosity, enjoying the very act of coming to know new things, may be your innate fuel.

The Moon Virtue Noble and Heaven Virtue Harmony (天德合) are stars through which unexpected help easily reaches you when you are in trouble. That does not mean things will work out even if you stay still; it is closer to meaning that the more honestly you conduct yourself, the more help gathers around you. For you, building trust in ordinary times is the most practical talisman.

There is also a shadow to your temperament. Because Heaven Net overlaps, you can easily feel trapped inside a frame of your own making, or be frustrated that things work out slowly despite your efforts. The Yin Mis-alignment (陰錯殺) is a star with which the timing between people easily goes off, so words may be received differently from what you intended. It is good to say important things briefly and clearly, and to leave promises that need confirming in writing one more time. These stars are not brands of fate; they are parts that, handled with care, can instead become delicacy.

Reading the Day Master (日干) (5): your inner world

Inside you, the weather is different from the firmness seen on the outside. Since you have two Canopy Stars (華蓋殺), your attraction to time alone thinking, to books or music, and to spiritual things may run deep. Jin (辰) and Sul (戌) are both characters of the storehouse. So the things you want to say, the dreams you have folded away, and the hurts you could not voice tend to be stored neatly, layer by layer, deep in your heart.

The heart of a person with a lot of earth does not easily take out its contents. You, too, take a long time before opening up about your true feelings, and even after you do, if the other person takes it lightly, you tend to close the door again. So even when you are lonely, there may be many days you get by saying "I'm fine."

The recurring tension reads in two ways. One is a tug of war between responsibility and freedom. Gyeong metal (庚金) pressing from above and the earth on all sides speak of duty, but you, as a tree, want to grow. The other is a tug of war between passion and reality. The flame of Jeong fire and the ember tucked away inside Sul earth want to express themselves, but the earth of wealth says stability comes first. Neither side is wrong, so acknowledging both makes your heart less noisy.

The Im water inside Hae water (亥水) is a sign that there is a well of contemplation within you. If there are days you stay up all night turning the same thoughts over in your head, the well is overflowing, so open a channel for the water by pouring it out in writing or soaking your body in warm water.

Since the Twelve Life Stage for the later half of life is Decline, it is beneficial to practice consciously slowing the pace of your body and mind as you get older. But this does not mean you grow weaker; you may also read it as meaning that the strength to gather in and put things in order grows deeper. Secure time alone without guilt, and about once a month, open the storehouse in your heart and check what has piled up. Taking out and using what you need and letting go of what is worn out clears your inner weather.

Reading the Day Master (日干) (6): how you form relationships

In relationships, you are the type who opens slowly and keeps faith for a long time. At first you are polite and keep a little distance, but once trust builds up, you become a surprisingly devoted person. Because you tend to look after those around you through actions rather than words, you are likely to be remembered as someone who quietly helps at the moment it is needed.

The people drawn to you are dependable and substantial. With plentiful Indirect Wealth earth in your chart, you feel at ease with people who have a sense of reality and know how to take responsibility. And because the warmth of Jeong fire is beside you, you can also be weak toward people who gently receive your feelings. Conversely, people whose words run ahead of their actions, or people with big emotional swings, can quickly feel tiring to you.

Your way of keeping distance is a quiet retreat. Even when you are uncomfortable, you do not make a big issue of it, and you gradually reduce how often you get in touch and how deep conversations go. The other person may feel you are drifting away without knowing why. If something hurts you, please try bringing it up in words at least once, even briefly. That one remark is the cheapest insurance for protecting the relationship.

Because you have the Yin Mis-alignment, in close relationships, especially in the place of a lover or spouse, the timing of hearts may go off. These are cases where each of you is saying the right thing, yet the feeling that comes across is different. At such times, rather than arguing over right and wrong, starting with "this is how I felt" leads to far fewer clashes. With your partner's family and the people around them as well, it is safer not to rush and to give the distance time.

Your luck with noble helpers is relatively solid. Since the Moon Virtue Noble sits in the day branch, elders, seniors, or teacher figures readily reach out a hand when things are hard. You tend to be clumsy at receiving help, so practice asking when you need to. Receiving is also a way of forming a relationship, and for the other person it is in fact a gift of having been trusted.

Reading the Day Master (日干) (7): work and ambition

Your attitude toward work is close to that of a diligent craftsman. When you take on responsibility, you try to see it through to the end, and you are uncomfortable putting out sloppy results. Since the main stem of your chart is the earth of Indirect Wealth, your instincts come alive in tangible areas like physical goods, assets, the field, and trade. Work whose results are visible suits you better than work that is only planning.

The drive that gets you started reads in two ways. One is the curiosity of wanting to learn, and the other is the wish to be recognized. The Hall of Learning and the knowledge energy of Hae water lead you down the path of building expertise, and the Gyeong metal above makes you conscious of evaluation and standards. So when you have a basis such as qualifications, skills, or a proven track record, you move much more boldly.

The strength that carries you to the end is a sense of responsibility and trustworthiness. Your nature of never letting go of a task once promised is a great asset, but the habit of trying to shoulder everything alone burns through your energy quickly. In a chart with a lot of earth, work tends to rush in from all sides, so set your priorities and divide up in advance what can be delegated.

Looking at the Luck Pillars, ages 25 to 44 flow through Gyeong-in and Sin-myo, so there is a lot of evaluation and pressure at work, but in return the opportunity to establish yourself is also great. If during this period you focus on building your skills rather than rushing to produce results, the fruit is likely to ripen afterward in the Im-jin and Gye-sa Luck Pillars. When the energy of water comes in, directions that deal with knowledge, such as research, advising, education, and writing, also gain strength.

The trap to avoid is anxiety spreading into greed for money. With a lot of earth, the longing for stability grows, which can lead to reckless investment or excessive stockpiling. It would be good to make it a principle to slow your decisions about work and money by one tempo and to hear one more opinion from someone you trust.

Reading the Day Master (日干) (8): strengths and rough edges

First, let us point out three strengths. The first is trust. Because the straightness of Gap wood and the diligence of earth overlap, you easily earn a reputation as someone who keeps your word. When this reputation meets the Moon Virtue Noble and Heaven Virtue Harmony, it becomes a channel that calls in help in hard times.

The second is the power to learn. The Hall of Learning, the Im water inside Hae water, and the Three Wonders of Heaven formed by Gap, Mu and Gyeong gathered together signify the quality of digging deep into one field and creating expertise of your own. As long as you keep studying steadily, this is a chart whose value rises as you age.

The third is a sense of reality. As the earth of the Wealth stars running through the whole chart and the Hidden Pay (暗祿) show, you have a fortune that supports your livelihood in places that do not show on the surface. The path of building a structure and accumulating steadily suits you better than earning big all of a sudden.

Now for two rough edges. One is the habit of carrying things alone. Because your sense of responsibility is strong and you rarely take out your true feelings, you may say you are struggling late and only keep your distance after you are already exhausted. You need to practice bringing up small requests and small complaints early. Saying a single line to a friend, like "Today's a bit much," is enough.

The other is rigidity in the face of being blocked. Because you have Heaven Net and the Yin Mis-alignment, when you feel things are slow or words are going astray, you easily blame yourself or close the door. At those very times, the flexibility to change your surroundings, change the way you talk, and try again after some time protects the tree. Even a straight tree, when the wind is strong, sways its branches to let the force pass through.

These rough edges are less weaknesses than a grain you can adjust once you know it. Strengths grow firm when used every day, and rough edges grow round when you are aware of them. You already have the materials in your chart to do both.

Balance of Cold, Warmth, Dryness and Moisture (寒暖燥濕)

Looking first at the degree of cold and warmth (寒暖), your birth month is Hae month (亥月) at the start of winter, so the basic ground leans cool. Fortunately, Jeong fire (丁火) lights a fire in the month stem, and an ember is also tucked away inside Sul earth (戌土), so it is not cold enough to freeze. Like a small stove placed by a window on a winter evening, you are the type who quickly loosens up when warmth is kept nearby. In the body, this may show up as hands, feet, or lower belly easily getting cold, and in the mind, as talking less on days you miss people.

The degree of moisture and dryness (燥濕) is a little more complex. Among the four earths, which are many, Sul earth is dry, hard earth, and Jin earth (辰土) is earth that holds moisture. As a result, the ground as a whole leans toward being somewhat dry and prone to hardening heavily, and the tree on top of it longs for water. This is why the Useful God is water. Only when water comes in does the earth loosen, the tree put down roots, and the fire avoid burning too much.

So the direction is to treat coolness with warmth and dryness with moisture. As a habit to practice, I recommend drinking warm water often. Lukewarm or warm tea, rather than cold drinks, soothes both the chill of the body and the dryness of the earth. In winter and at the change of seasons, keep your lower belly and ankles warm, and release the day's tension before sleep with a half-body bath or a shower.

For food, warm dishes with broth, and ingredients with the energy of water like black beans or seaweed, are better than overly spicy, salty, or dry food. For space, a place that is ventilated and keeps some humidity suits you. Put a humidifier or plants in a dry room, and keep a glass of water beside your desk.

As for seasons, your energy loosens at the start of spring and summer, that is, when trees grow, and from late autumn into winter it is better to consciously meet people and get sunlight. Simply by continuing to add small warmth and small moisture to daily life, the heavy earth of this chart can become much softer.

Ten Gods (十星)

The Ten Gods (十星) in Your Chart

The Ten God with the loudest voice in this chart is Indirect Wealth (偏財). The Mu (戊) earth in the hour stem (時干) shows on the surface. The Jin (辰) in the year branch, the Sul (戌) in the day branch, and the Jin (辰) in the hour branch are all earth energy as well, so the ground covers the whole chart broadly. If you picture the Gap (甲) wood Day Master (日干) as a large tree, your tree stands in the middle of a wide plain. There is plenty of ground to spread out over, but it is not easy to send roots down deep.

The next sounds you hear are the Seven Killings (偏官) of Gyeong (庚) metal in the year stem and the Hurting Officer (傷官) of Jeong (丁) fire in the month stem. The two stars face each other. The shape is one of Jeong fire melting and refining Gyeong metal, so it is a structure that processes pressure and discipline (Seven Killings) into skill and a way with words (Hurting Officer). It is close to the scene of a forge fire turning a lump of iron into a usable tool. On top of this, the Indirect Resource (偏印) in the month branch Hae (亥) supports the Day Master as water. Because there is so much earth, this water is held down, so its voice is small but important. This is also why the Useful God (用神) is Water (水).

The quiet ones are the Friend (比肩) and Rob Wealth (劫財), the Eating God (食神), the Direct Officer (正官), the Direct Wealth (正財), and the Direct Resource (正印). These stars are only hidden within the hidden stems (地藏干) and are hard to see on the surface. This means there are few people "on my side," and the fence of institutions or motherly support is not conspicuously abundant.

The person this combination shapes tends to have a strong sense of reality and to be a hands-on type who produces results under pressure.8 However, you can easily wear yourself out carrying everything alone. I recommend deliberately setting aside time unrelated to results about once a week. Time spent reading a book or walking by the water becomes a way of irrigating dry ground, and it keeps your tree standing for a long time.

How You Meet the World

The role you naturally take on within a group is close to that of an on-the-ground coordinator. A person with strong Indirect Wealth reads at a glance where people, resources, and schedules get stuck and where they flow. Add to this the expressiveness of the Hurting Officer, and there will be many moments when you sum up a complicated situation in short, precise words. The Seven Killings in the year stem is a star that makes you step forward rather than dodge when responsibility falls on you. So in a place hit by crisis, you often become the most dependable person.

The stage where you shine is where concrete results change hands. Places where words and practical work are used together suit you, such as markets and trade, planning and operations, or lecturing and consulting. Because you have the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人), you also gain strength in scenes where you explain what you have learned to others.5 On the other hand, in places where abstract meetings drag on or where only authority is put forward, the Hurting Officer easily sharpens its edge.4 At such times your words can become a notch too sharp, and you may unintentionally clash with your superiors.

It is also worth noting that the Canopy Star (華蓋殺) appears twice. It is a structure in which you move sociably on the outside but truly need time alone on the inside to sort things out and recharge. If you find yourself resting in silence after a gathering ends, that is not something strange but your rhythm.

As a prescription, when you need to bring up a criticism, try building the habit of first attaching one line of an alternative. This is the way for the Jeong fire to melt the metal without burning people. As colleagues, people who can match your pace are better than people who are strong with numbers and schedules. When someone who trusts the wide view of your Indirect Wealth is by your side, you work far more comfortably.

Family Relationships

In a man's chart, the Wealth stars (財星) point to both the wife and the father, and in your chart Indirect Wealth is overwhelming. So your relationship with your father and your relationship with your spouse tend to be read as overlapping. Your father was likely a person with a big presence and a practical outlook. He may have approached you first with responsibility and expectation rather than warmth. Under that influence, you too easily feel "I have to take care of them" first toward the people close to you.

The Direct Resource (正印), which stands for the mother, is hidden as Gye (癸) water inside the Jin (辰) of the year and hour branches, and the Indirect Resource (偏印) in the month branch reads as a teacher-like supporter. This does not mean there was no mother's love. It is just possible that it came through as quiet, practical help rather than being expressed in a big way. The Friend and Rob Wealth, which stand for siblings, are also only in the hidden stems, so even if you have siblings, they may not be people you rub shoulders with often in daily life.

The day branch, the spouse's seat, is Sul (戌), and Indirect Wealth sits there. You can picture a practical and active spouse. However, because the Jin (辰) in the year and hour branches collides with the Sul (戌), clashes over ways of living or ways of spending money can come up now and then in close relationships. Because there is a Yin Mis-alignment (陰錯殺), there may also be times when you mean different things by your words and hear them differently. Have important conversations in the clear daytime, not in the evening when emotions have not settled, and leave what you agreed on briefly in writing. It does a great deal to reduce misunderstandings.

For a man, children are read through the Officer stars (官星). The Seven Killings in the year stem fills that seat, and the Direct Officer (正官) Sin (辛) metal is hidden inside the Sul (戌). With your children, the task is to balance strictness and tenderness.

Why People Are Drawn to You

When they are near you, people feel both the security of "this person gets things done" and the ease of "I can be honest in front of this person." What creates these two feelings is Indirect Wealth and the Hurting Officer. Indirect Wealth gives a generous, wide-reaching openhandedness and activity that does not pick and choose among people, and the Hurting Officer gives a witty, candid way of speaking. Add to this the dignity of Gap wood, like a large tree standing straight, and the impression that remains is of someone who is not lightweight.

The noble stars (貴人) and auspicious spirits (吉神) seated in the chart also add to this appeal. The Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人) creates a flow in which unexpected help reaches you in difficult moments. The Golden Carriage (金輿) appearing twice is read as an energy that makes it easy to give a dignified impression and to meet people who will guide you. Hidden Pay (暗祿) is a star that supports the foundation of your life without showing, and the Hall of Learning gives an intellectual trustworthiness that comes from learning. The Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇) is a rare configuration in which Gap, Mu, and Gyeong come together in one chart, adding a distinctive presence that is not confined to an ordinary mold.

However, this attraction does not always lead only to comfortable relationships. The candor of the Hurting Officer can sometimes feel like a blade to the other person the closer you get. Also, people asking for help tend to gather around someone with strong Indirect Wealth. So it is better to make clear what you can share and where you draw the line.

As a prescription, I recommend the habit of praising in front of others and pointing out faults when it is just the two of you. When you help, too, giving steadily and in small amounts rather than all at once in a big way makes relationships last. Then your appeal accumulates instead of being used up.

Childhood (Year Pillar): Seen Through the Ten Gods

The Year Pillar is Gyeong-jin (庚辰). Seven Killings (偏官) sits in the heavenly stem and Indirect Wealth (偏財) in the earthly branch. Your childhood environment was likely on the side of clear discipline and expectations rather than looseness. There may have been a strict elder or rules to follow at home. Or it may have been an atmosphere in which the realities of the household finances and daily living came into view early. Seven Killings is a star that makes a child grow up early. So you may have been quicker than your peers at reading the room and learned responsibility early.

The Jin (辰) in the year branch is moist earth, and inside it are hidden the mother star, Direct Resource (正印) Gye (癸) water, and the sibling star, Rob Wealth (劫財) Eul (乙) wood. I read this as a sign that even if your home was solid and practical on the outside, there was a hand quietly caring for you on the inside. In terms of the Twelve Life Stages, it corresponds to Decline (衰), so rather than your childhood energy blossoming fully, it shows a picture of stepping back one pace and settling down calmly. You may have been a child who quietly listened to and learned from the adults rather than letting your playfulness loose.

Your values in this period may have hardened into "I have to get things done diligently" and "I have to become a useful person." These values become a great strength later, but they can make you clumsy at giving yourself permission to rest.

The Golden Carriage (金輿) and the Three Wonders of Heaven seated in the Year Pillar show the possibility that, even in a difficult environment, there was an elder to guide you or a special opportunity. What I would like to say to you as a child is "You were doing well enough." If even now the habit of driving yourself hard on days without results comes out, simply noticing that it is a habit learned in childhood makes things much lighter.

Young Adulthood (Month Pillar): Seen Through the Ten Gods

The Month Pillar is Jeong-hae (丁亥). The Hurting Officer (傷官) sits in the heavenly stem and Indirect Resource (偏印) in the earthly branch. In young adulthood you likely spent a period in which talent and learning moved as one body. Jeong fire (丁火) is a delicate, highly focused fire like a candle flame, so you easily stand out in work expressed through hands and mind, such as writing, design, speaking, or technical skills.6 The Indirect Resource of Hae (亥) is a star of learning that digs deep into fields others rarely go into. Your major or job may have been a little unusual, or you may have worked by digging one well deep.7

The month branch Hae (亥) is the place of Long Life (長生) for Gap wood. Having the water energy this chart needs in the month branch is a great blessing. Learning is the very path that keeps you alive, and it is a structure in which the time you invest in study and training pays back the most later on. The Hall of Learning and Hidden Pay are added here, helping a flow in which you establish yourself through scholarship and skills. The Moon Virtue Noble and Heaven Virtue Harmony (天德合) hint at connections in which people like seniors or teachers open a path for you now and then in a crisis.

In the early days after entering society, the framework of an organization may have felt stifling because of the Hurting Officer's temperament. Because it is a structure in which Jeong fire refines the Seven Killings (discipline) in the year stem, a pattern easily appears in which you clash with superiors or rules but are ultimately recognized for your results. Things become far easier if you show results first rather than letting your words go ahead.

Peer relationships tend to deepen with a few people who share your learning and tastes rather than spreading wide. When choosing colleagues, pick people whose pace is similar to yours and who respect each other's expertise. Connections of that kind made in young adulthood last a long time.

Midlife (Day Pillar): Seen Through the Ten Gods

The Day Pillar is Gap-sul (甲戌). The Day Master Gap wood sits on Sul earth (戌土), and inside the Sul (戌) are hidden Mu (戊) earth as Indirect Wealth, Sin (辛) metal as Direct Officer, and Jeong (丁) fire as Hurting Officer. In midlife you tend to end up doing work that deals with reality and work that deals with people at the same time. The seat where Indirect Wealth sits is one with a wide range of activity, where things get resolved through people. And the hidden Direct Officer is a sense of social responsibility and honor. So it is a period in which you grow into a person whose inner standard of "it has to be done right" is as solid as the results seen on the outside.

In terms of the Twelve Life Stages, it is Nurture (養). It is the stage of a fetus growing in the mother's arms, so it means a strength that is raised slowly rather than bursting out brilliantly right away. Your achievements in midlife are closer to a curve that builds up over a long time and stands out at some point than to a curve that climbs in a hurry. Because the Moon Virtue Noble and the Three Wonders of Heaven are together in this seat, the advice of a noble helper easily reaches you in front of important choices.

The point to watch is that the day branch Sul (戌) is in a structure that collides with the Jin (辰) of the year and hour branches. There are times when the center of your heart wavers, and conflict can come up in choices involving close relationships or money. The Heaven Net (天羅), formed by Sul (戌) and Hae (亥) as neighbors, can also mean a period in which things feel like a net that has closed in. At such times, the way through is not to force your way out but to pause for a beat and bring in water energy, that is, learning, rest, and flexibility.

Because the Canopy (華蓋) is in the day branch, a time will come when your heart is drawn to solitary exploration, hobbies, or spiritual study. Do not regard this as a luxury; use it as the root that steadies your center in midlife.

Later Life (Hour Pillar): Seen Through the Ten Gods

The Hour Pillar is Mu-jin (戊辰), and both the heavenly stem and the earthly branch are Indirect Wealth (偏財). Since the birth hour is confirmed, the flow of later life can be read relatively clearly. In later life you tend to spend your days dealing with tangible things, that is, a house or assets, the skills you have built up, and trust with people. It is a structure in which the sense for reading the field that you have honed all your life deepens further in later life. Because the Twelve Life Stage is Decline (衰), it reads as a period of lowering the pace and putting what you have in order rather than pushing work hard.

For a man, children are read through the Officer stars (官星). So the Indirect Wealth of the Hour Pillar speaks less about the children themselves than about the ground and the practical sense for living that you will pass on to them. You easily become someone who hands your children "an attitude toward work" and "an eye for reality" rather than money or property. The Direct Resource Gye (癸) water inside the hour branch Jin (辰) is a sign that the joy of learning and teaching will come in later life. Passing your experience on to students or juniors is likely to become a source of vitality in old age.

With the Golden Carriage and the Three Wonders of Heaven seated in the Hour Pillar, you can look forward to a flow in later life in which you keep your dignity and stand in a respected place. Because there is a Canopy Star, the pull toward quiet study, art, or spiritual exploration also deepens. Leaving the know-how you have organized in writing, lectures, or records suits you.

There are two habits worth building in advance. One is not just holding on to wealth but deciding early whom to share it with and how. The other is regularly checking your health, especially the digestive system and the kidneys. Since this is a chart in which earth easily dams up water, a life that looks after hydration and circulation will protect the peace of your later years.

Symbolic stars (神煞)

Overview of the Symbolic Stars (神煞)

This chart holds seven auspicious stars and three inauspicious stars. On the auspicious side are Heaven Virtue Harmony (天德合), the Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人), the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人), two Golden Carriages (金輿), Hidden Pay (暗祿), and the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇). The Moon Virtue Noble and Heaven Virtue Harmony are stars through which an unexpected helping hand reaches you in hard times. The Hall of Learning speaks of an innate concentration on learning and research. The Golden Carriage is the star of obtaining a fine carriage, so it is read as a dignified environment and good fortune with people. Hidden Pay is a stipend that supports you from below without being noticed. The Three Wonders of Heaven is a rare configuration in which Gap (甲), Mu (戊), and Gyeong (庚) come together in one chart, and it signifies a talent that departs from the ordinary path.9

The inauspicious stars are two: the Yin Mis-alignment (陰錯殺) and the Heaven Net (天羅). The Heaven Net is a net made by Sul (戌) and Hae (亥), and it tends to show up as a feeling of being frustratingly blocked just before things come loose. The Yin Mis-alignment is a tendency for each other's timing to fall out of step in relationships. The prescription is simple. Do not hold on to an important decision alone for a long time; try saying it out loud to one person you trust. That is usually where the blockage opens.

The Void (空亡) is Sin (申) and Yu (酉), but these characters do not appear in the natal chart. So the Void does not dim any neighboring stars, and the stars above work with their full strength. Instead, in 2028, Mu-sin (戊申), and 2029, Gi-yu (己酉), the empty seats get filled. These two years can become a period in which areas you were usually unaware of suddenly stir up matters, so I recommend not rushing new contracts or big moves and watching for one more season. Since this is a chart thick with four earths, the habit of keeping water (水) close balances the whole.

Stars of the Early Years (年柱)

On the Year Pillar Gyeong-jin (庚辰) hang the Golden Carriage (金輿) and the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇), and the Twelve Life Stage is Decline (衰). It is a picture of a dignified carriage placed beside you, even if the foundation of your childhood was not lavish. There was likely an air of learning or propriety in your home, or you were influenced by a good elder. However, because of the Decline energy, you were more likely a child who quietly observed than one bursting with energy.M1

Another star is the Canopy Star (華蓋殺) seated on Jin (辰). The Canopy signifies time spent absorbed alone, books and imagination, and artistic and religious sensibility. Even while mixing with friends, there was probably a room of your own in one corner of your heart. This star is a talent, but in excess it leans toward loneliness. If as a child you stored up thoughts you could not say, try bringing them out now in a diary or notes. It is like piled-up earth finding a waterway.

The Three Wonders of Heaven is a configuration in which Gap (甲), Mu (戊), and Gyeong (庚) follow in sequence. The Gyeong (庚) of the Year Pillar takes the first place in it, and it may have given you, from early on, a view different from your peers. At the same time, the Gyeong (庚) of the Year Pillar is metal (金) that opposes the Day Master Gap (甲), so it is also an element that made you feel pressure or discipline in childhood. If your environment was strict, you can see it as the material that built your present firmness. There is no need to force away the awkwardness of your early years. The power of observation cultivated in that period often carries over into precision in your later work.

Stars of Young Adulthood (月柱)

On the Month Pillar Jeong-hae (丁亥) are the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) and Hidden Pay (暗祿), and the Twelve Life Stage is Long Life (長生). Hae (亥) is the place where Gap wood (甲木) sprouts, so from your twenties to your mid-thirties is the stretch in which the power to learn and branch out flows most clearly. Like a stream wetting a young stem, it is a time when study, qualifications, and research quietly become part of you.

The Hall of Learning signifies intellectual curiosity and luck in learning. It is favorable for building degrees or professional skills, and you tend to want to understand any topic you have dug into all the way to the end. Hidden Pay is support that does not show on the surface. It works in such a way that seniors or superiors open opportunities for you without your asking. So in this period, faithfully doing the work given to you brings a far bigger return than inflating your achievements.

There are also two shadows in this seat. One is the Disgrace Star (亡身殺) hanging on Hae (亥), a sign that your words and conduct may come across differently from what you intended. The other is the net of the Heaven Net (天羅). In this period, read messages or official documents one more time before sending them, and when emotions are running high, sleep on it for a night before replying. That habit prevents most gossip. In the period when the Luck Pillar passes from Gyeong-in (庚寅) to Sin-myo (辛卯), wood energy comes back to life, making it a good turning point for setting a new direction.

Stars of Midlife (日柱)

On the Day Pillar Gap-sul (甲戌) are the Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人) and the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇), and the Twelve Life Stage is Nurture (養). With auspicious stars seated in the most important place, the center of your midlife tends to be stably supported. Moon Virtue is a star through which people and institutions help you in hard times, and Nurture is an energy of holding and raising, showing a flow in which you gain strength by caring for family and colleagues.

On Sul (戌) hangs the Month Killing Star (月殺). The Month Killing Star is a star through which energy easily stagnates, like dry ground, meaning your body may tire first in busy periods. With four earths, which is a lot, I recommend paying attention to fatigue in the digestive system and spleen and to a feeling of the body becoming heavy. Regular meals, walking, and the habit of drinking enough water are ways to replenish, through the body, the water (水) that is your Useful God (用神).

Sul (戌), the spouse's seat, stands in a clash (沖) relationship with the Jin (辰) of the Year Pillar and the Hour Pillar. This collision can show up in relationships as occasional wavering or disagreement. On the other hand, it is also an energy that creates change. Try bringing up sensitive topics in the morning or during a walk rather than in the evening when you are both tired. In work, under the influence of the Three Wonders of Heaven, you shine when you set up your own way rather than following a set path.10 The flow of 2026 to 2028 may be somewhat rough, so I recommend putting the weight on review and tidying up rather than expansion during this stretch.

Stars of Later Life (時柱)

On the Hour Pillar Mu-jin (戊辰) hang the Golden Carriage (金輿) and the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇), and the Twelve Life Stage is Decline (衰). Since the birth hour of this chart is confirmed, the picture of later life can be drawn as well. The Golden Carriage is a star of gaining a dignified environment and the respect of children and juniors in old age. The last character of the Three Wonders of Heaven, Mu (戊), is in this seat, so it is a structure in which the Three Wonders begin in the Year Pillar and are completed in the Hour Pillar. It can be read as meaning that the beginning and end of your life are connected in a single line.

The Canopy Star (華蓋殺) of Jin (辰) appears once more. In later life, even as the range of your activity narrows, the depth of your inner life tends to grow. Work you can refine alone over a long time, such as writing, lecturing, record keeping, or crafts, easily becomes a legacy. Passing the experience you have built up over many years on to juniors suits this period best. Because of the Decline energy, physical strength goes down slowly, so look after your muscle strength and sleep steadily from your fifties at the latest.

After your mid-forties, when the Luck Pillars flow through Im-jin (壬辰) and Gye-sa (癸巳), water, your Useful God, comes in. It is likely to be a period when matters long blocked finally come loose and your heart becomes much lighter. At that time the frustration of the Heaven Net also eases a great deal. The stars of later life are more generous to people who have built things up slowly than to people who hurry. So you can let go of some of your present impatience.

Study · exams · qualifications

Your Study Luck Overall

Your study luck is not the kind that unfolds smoothly from the start; it is closer to the kind that bears fruit late, after putting down deep roots. Your Day Master (日干) is Gap (甲) wood. You were born in the Hae (亥) month, at the threshold of winter, with water energy kept close to the roots, so the picture is of a great tree standing beside a winter spring. The Resource stars (印星), the source of learning, are hidden inside the month branch Hae (亥) water, so your ability to learn is clearly there. It is also a good sign that the Twelve Life Stages (十二運星) position of the month branch is Long Life (長生), which means the sprouts of learning tend to come up easily in early adulthood.

However, there are as many as four earth (土) in your chart, and they stand in the way of the water. Just as a spring is hidden when earth blocks its channel, practical work, money, and responsibilities can keep pushing aside your time for learning. It is not that you lack the ability to learn; it is a structure in which the room to learn shrinks. So you tend to show more strength in "periods of building up bit by bit while working" than in "periods when you can do nothing but study".11

Another gift is the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) and the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇). The Hall of Learning means the ground for learning is open to you, and the Three Wonders of Heaven mean a distinctive talent can shine on a path others do not take. With both stars present, results are more likely to grow when you dig in your own way than when you follow a set course.12

To sum up, your strength lies in depth from the middle years on, rather than in speed at the start. Even if you feel slow now, you may think of it not as a lack of talent but as the work of making a channel for the water to flow.

What Kind of Study Suits You

Your chart draws strength from practical fields connected to reality rather than from scholarship that leans only one way. The earth energy, especially the Wealth stars (財星), is strong, so you match well with fields that produce visible results, such as business management, accounting, real estate, distribution, household economics, and engineering. Study that only floats in theory can easily become boring, but knowledge you can use right away in the field is something you can hold on to for a long time.

The Jeong (丁) fire in the month stem is a Hurting Officer (傷官). It stands for expressiveness and planning ability, a talent for working things out in speech and writing. So expressive fields such as writing, lecturing, content creation, design, and counseling also suit you well. Just as fire warms earth to shape something, your understanding deepens when you remake what you have learned in your own words.

It is also worth noting that the Canopy Star (華蓋殺) appears twice. The Canopy Star is linked to fields of solitary, deep study such as philosophy, religion, the arts, the humanities, and research.13 Even if you are usually practical, you may have a side that holds one subject in your heart for a long time and explores it. It is also common for a field you started as a hobby to later become your expertise.

Physical education and skills that use the body are not bad either. Gap wood has the temperament of a tree growing straight, so it also fits with skill-based study learned through the body. However, pure theoretical science or highly abstract scholarship tends to clash with the realism of earth, letting your energy leak away. If you choose such a field, I recommend pairing it with something tangible, such as experiments or projects.

Focus and Stamina

Focus is read as the sum of the support given by the Resource stars (印星) and the discipline held in place by the Officer stars (官星). In your case both stars are present, but the balance is not very stable. The Resource star lies inside Hae (亥) water, with deep roots but not visible on the surface, and the Officer stars are hidden as the Gyeong (庚) metal in the year stem and as the Sin (辛) metal inside Sul (戌) earth. This means you can draw on them when needed, but they do not switch on automatically.

On top of this, the Jin-Sul clash (辰戌沖) occurs in two places. The day branch Sul (戌) earth collides with the Jin (辰) earth in the year and hour branches, so there may be days when many things shake inside you at once. It is like moving from this book to that book, from this plan to that plan, all day, and only at night feeling you have finished nothing. The overlapping Heaven Net (天羅) works in the same way, and can give the feeling that the things you must do are tangled like a net and overwhelming.

The prescription is simple. Take up only one thing at a time, and work in short blocks of time. If you have a framework, such as studying for fifty minutes and resting for ten, the discipline of the Officer stars does the work for you. It is also good to fix one place for studying. A chart with a lot of earth gains strength from a stable spot.

Your stamina is the long-distance kind rather than the sprint kind. Gap wood is a tree that, once it has set its direction, keeps growing steadily upward. Even if the start is slow, once you catch the flow you go a long way. Habits that keep water close, for example an early morning walk or studying after a shower, tend to add the energy of water (水), your Useful God (用神), and help your focus.

Exams and Qualifications

For exam luck, the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) sits in the Month Pillar with Hidden Pay (暗祿) attached to it, so the basic foundation is solid. Hidden Pay is a star of help arriving from places you cannot see. Even if things look ordinary on the surface, help such as a teacher, a senior, or materials tends to appear unexpectedly at the last moment. You also have the Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人), so at major crossroads help from people is likely to follow. The Literary Star (文昌貴人) does not show up separately in the chart, so you can regard the Hall of Learning and these stars of help as the center of your exam luck.

However, the use of the Officer stars depends on timing. This year (2026), Byeong-o (丙午), Eating God and Hurting Officer overlap, so the energy leans more toward expressing and creating than toward memorizing and getting the right answer. This works in your favor for essay exams, interviews, portfolios, and practical exams, but in exams where you must pick the set answer precisely, points tend to leak through carelessness. Next year, Jeong-mi (丁未), the Hurting Officer energy similarly continues, so you need the habit of checking your answers carefully.

In 2028, Mu-sin (戊申), the Twelve Life Stages position is Severance (絶), making it the year with the weakest flow. If a major exam falls in that year, it is safer to postpone it or to extend your preparation period well in advance. On the other hand, 2030, Gyeong-sul (庚戌), brings Seven Killings and Indirect Wealth together, so it is a year in which the doors to qualifications and employment open easily, and its life stage is Nurture (養), which is auspicious. I recommend a strategy of making this your target and building up your preparation toward it.

Before exams, the water energy, that is, enough sleep and a calm mind, protects your score. Regular review suits your chart far better than last-minute cramming.

The Luck Pillars When Study Goes Best

Looking at the Luck Pillars (大運), the wave of study rises several times. The first is the Mu-ja (戊子) Luck Pillar from age 5. The Ja (子) water in the branch brings in water, your Useful God, directly and sets the foundation for learning in childhood. In this period the basics of reading and curiosity tend to take root.

The Gi-chuk (己丑) Luck Pillar from age 15 is a stretch in which the earth grows thicker. More earth is added to a chart that already has a lot of it, so the burden of schoolwork or the demands around you may increase. Even if your grades go up and down, remember that it is a matter of structure, not ability. In this period it is better to build up one subject at a time, step by step.

The Gyeong-in (庚寅) Luck Pillar from age 25 and the Sin-myo (辛卯) Luck Pillar from age 35 are periods of the Officer stars. Gyeong (庚) metal is Seven Killings and Sin (辛) metal is Direct Officer, so strength goes into officially recognized study such as certificates, graduate school, and job training.M4 The In (寅) wood and Myo (卯) wood in the branches become roots for Gap wood and firmly support body and mind. Your thirties into your forties are likely to be the golden age of study, when the most practical results come out.

After that, the Im-jin (壬辰) Luck Pillar from age 45 and the Gye-sa (癸巳) Luck Pillar from age 55 are periods when water enters the heavenly stems. Im (壬) water and Gye (癸) water are both Resource stars and your Useful God, so after middle age a strong desire to study deeply again arises. Study in this period is closer to insight and wisdom than to exams or career. It is a good time to take out the major or interests you put off in your younger years.

The Way of Studying That Fits Your Chart

Yours is a structure that needs both time studying alone and someone to guide you. Gap wood as Day Master has strong independence, and the Canopy Star gives you the power to dig in alone. So it is more efficient to digest the core concepts quietly on your own. But because there is a lot of earth, you can easily lose your practical direction, so having a mentor or teacher who points out the way lets you go much faster. As the Moon Virtue Noble and Hidden Pay tell us, the help of benefactors is already built into your luck. Go out of your way to the places where you can receive that help.

Apprenticeship-style and on-site learning also suit you well.14 Since the Wealth stars are strong, your skills become solid through learning while doing actual work rather than learning only from books. Build the habit of reading theory and immediately moving it into a small project or hands-on practice.

Group study has its pros and cons. Thanks to the expressiveness of the Hurting Officer, there is the advantage that your understanding deepens in the process of explaining and discussing. However, when many people are mixed together your mind easily scatters, so a small group of two or three is about right.

In terms of environment, it is good to keep water energy close. Quiet times such as dawn or night, spaces with a view of water or trees, and a cup of warm tea help. In terms of seasons, your focus tends to deepen in the turn from autumn to winter. And rather than making long, grand study plans, break them into small weekly pieces. Yours is a chart that gains strength the more visible your record of completed work becomes.

When Study Wavers

Wavering mainly comes in two shapes. One is when earth increases too much and blocks the water channel; the other is when clashes and punishments overlap and the mind becomes scattered.

In the near term, 2028, Mu-sin (戊申), calls for the most caution. The Mu (戊) earth in the heavenly stem adds earth once more and presses down on the Resource stars, and its life stage is Severance (絶), so you may feel your motivation cut off. In this year it is better to maintain the study you are already doing than to push into new goals. 2029, Gi-yu (己酉), carries the energy of Conception (胎) and recovery begins gradually, so I recommend treating the time in between as a stretch for resting.

Among the Luck Pillars, the Gi-chuk (己丑) stretch from age 15 is the heaviest. Chuk (丑) earth is tied to the day branch Sul earth through the energy of punishment (刑), so your mind may feel stifled. If a similar period comes again, deal with it in the same way.

The more concrete the ways of holding on, the better. First, cut your study load to half of usual, but continue a very small amount every day. What matters is that the line does not break. Second, move your body. Walking or light exercise loosens the blocked earth energy. Third, open up about your current state to someone you trust. Yours is a chart in which benefactors appear as people. Finally, do not read the stagnation of such periods as your own limit. When branches stop growing in winter, the tree is not dead; it is gathering strength in its roots.

What Study Means in Your Life

For you, study is not decoration; it is closer to a central axis of life. The fact that the Hall of Learning, the Three Wonders of Heaven, and the Canopy Star sit together in your chart reads as meaning that learning, whether as a job or a hobby, returns again and again in every corner of your life. It is not a single exam that ends once, but a path that continues throughout your life, changing direction as it goes.

However, your study is not completed at a desk alone. Since yours is a chart with strong Wealth stars, learning only comes alive in value when it connects with work, relationships, and running a household. Your satisfaction is great when you can use what you know in real life, and knowledge with no place to use it tends to quickly lose its appeal. So picture where you will use something as much as what you will learn.

One more thing: in the second half of life, the Im (壬) water and Gye (癸) water Luck Pillars arrive and your Useful God gains strength. This is a flow in which the experience built up in your younger days matures into wisdom after middle age. Rather than worrying that your learning came late, you may trust that you are, in fact, a person who deepens late.

To You: A Word

For you, study is closer to growing something than to competing. Do not try to match your pace to others; let each sip of water reach your roots. Then, as some season arrives, branches you can see will surely grow.

Career

Your Talents

Your Day Master (日干) is Gap (甲) wood. It is a great tree that grows tall and straight, and this tree is standing in a field of thick earth. Jin (辰), Sul (戌), and Jin (辰) sit in the earthly branches, giving four earth energies. So the center of your talent is a sense of reality: the power to sense first with your body how numbers, assets, goods, and the interests between people work.

Another layer of talent is added to this. Gyeong (庚), Gap (甲), and Mu (戊) stand side by side in the heavenly stems, forming the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇). This is not a common arrangement, and it symbolizes an extraordinary eye that finds usable structures in gaps others cannot see. The Jeong (丁) fire in the month stem is a Hurting Officer (傷官), so it moves through words and ideas. The Gyeong (庚) metal in the neighboring pillar, that is, Seven Killings (偏官), is rough, hard iron. Jeong fire is close to a blacksmith's fire that melts this iron and makes it into tools. This is the structure of the Hurting Officer controlling the Killings (傷官制殺): the ability not to strike back head-on at pressure coming from above and at difficult tasks, but to refine and use them with skill and logic.

Inside the month branch Hae (亥) there is Im (壬) water, so the depth of Indirect Resource (偏印) comes along. The Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) and the Canopy (華蓋) overlap, so you have the temperament of a researcher who digs into one field for a long time. Put simply, on the outside you are a hands-on practitioner, but on the inside you are a person who studies.15

This talent accumulates rather than showing itself loudly. Like a stream soaking young stems, knowledge must seep in quietly for the roots to become firm. So in environments where you are judged by short-term results, you tend to be seen as less capable than you are. When you grow impatient, it would be good to recall that this structure gains in value the longer it lasts.

How to Grow Talent into Results

For this chart to produce results, what it needs most is depth. The clue is that the Useful God (用神) is water (水), that is, the Resource stars (印星). In a chart as hard as a dry field of earth, water is the resource that loosens the ground and lets the tree put down roots. Qualifications, learning, teachers, and systematic training all count as water. With this many Wealth stars, you will want to jump straight into work that makes money, but jumping in without study leaves you like a shallow-rooted tree facing the wind.

The second is patience. The Jin (辰) and Jin (辰) in the earthly branches are in a self-punishment (自刑) relationship. You tend to drive yourself hard or repeat the same worries and let your energy leak away. Writing down your criteria before starting a task can greatly reduce this drain. Also, since the day branch Sul (戌) receives a clash (沖) from the Jin (辰) on either side, your environment shakes often. The habit of not letting go of an hour of the same study every day, even amid the shaking, becomes the anchor of this chart.

The third is collaboration. Your Day Master sits between weak and balanced, so if you try to handle all the Wealth stars alone, you wear out. If you keep a trustworthy business partner or working partner beside you, the same talent is put to double use. I recommend putting off scaling up until after your mid-thirties, and seeing the time before that as a period for building depth and trust.

Finally, control the speed of your words. The strength of the Hurting Officer is the sharp remark, but in front of a direct superior, that one remark often lowers your evaluation. If you sort out your conclusion first, leave it in writing, and then speak, the same content comes across with much more force.

Fields and Roles That Suit You

Based on your chart, I recommend two tracks. The first is the certificate and professional type. Yours is a structure with many Wealth stars and the Resource stars as the Useful God, so it fits well with professions that handle wealth through law and numbers.M3 Qualifications such as tax accountant, certified public accountant, certified appraiser, licensed real estate agent, and certified judicial scrivener (a Korean legal document professional) are typical. Once you pass, it is a qualification you use for life, so it becomes a stable base even in a shaky environment. The state exam and civil service exam type (Korea's competitive government service exams) suits you relatively less, since there is no Direct Officer (正官) and the Seven Killings is rough.

The second is the self-employment and startup type. Indirect Wealth (偏財) is thick and the Hurting Officer supports it, so after your mid-thirties, work under your own name comes naturally. Specific fields include the following.

  • Accounting, tax, and financial consulting: your eye for reading numbers and your in-depth study become the product itself.
  • Real estate and asset management: with a lot of earth energy, you have a feel for land and buildings. However, management and brokerage are more stable than highly volatile speculative deals.
  • Education, lecturing, content: the place where the expressiveness of the Hurting Officer meets the knowledge of the Indirect Resource.16
  • Technology, design, and research and development: because of the Hurting Officer controlling the Killings, you are strong at solving difficult problems with technology.
  • Publishing, records, and archives: quiet work in which the tendencies of the Canopy come alive.

Between the organizational type and the startup type, you are closer to the startup type.17 However, rather than starting a business empty-handed, it is safer to build up professional qualifications first and then set up a private office or small business on top of them. Even if you work as a freelancer, keep two or more sources of income so you do not depend on a single large client.

People Who Help Your Career

This is a chart in which the positions of benefactors are clear. The Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人) sits in the Day Pillar, so after your mid-thirties it tends to work through someone you have known a long time or a close partner covering your weaknesses. This benefactor is gentle in temperament and the type who looks after you through actions rather than words. The Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) is in the Month Pillar, so teachers, professors, and seniors from qualification exams whom you meet in your twenties to early thirties open the way. The Golden Carriage (金輿) is in the Year and Hour Pillars, so there is a flow in which family connections give you strength when young, and as you get older, juniors or students raise you up.

Interpreted by the standards of Korean organizations, diagonal mentors are more decisive than the official direct reporting line.18 Rather than a senior in the same department, it is a senior from another department, a former supervisor from a previous job, a senior alumnus from your school, or an older person you met in a qualification exam study group who opens the way. With a direct superior, the rough energy of the Seven Killings makes a tense relationship more likely.

The places to meet these people are places of study. Connections are made in spaces where learning passes back and forth, such as certificate prep classes, graduate school, industry seminars, and academic conferences. Trust builds up in places where people study the same thing rather than at drinking sessions or social gatherings. When the energy of water (水), your Useful God, comes in the form of people, those around you born in years with Hae (亥) or Ja (子), that is, the Year of the Pig and the Year of the Rat, may feel comfortable. I recommend using this only as a reference for recognizing comfortable people rather than as an absolute standard.

When you meet a mentor, do not make a big request all at once; start with a single question. As small questions accumulate, one day you will be introduced to an important position.

People Who Hold You Back

Translating the clashes, punishments, and harms within the chart into zodiac years gives the following. The biggest axis is the Jin-Sul clash (辰戌沖). When a Dragon and a Dog meet, the first impression is strong, but the closer they get, the more their directions diverge. Your day branch is Sul (戌), so your thinking often collides with a Dragon-year superior or colleague. The negative side is that small differences of opinion escalate into emotional fights; the positive side is that the tension awakens both of you and raises the quality of the work. Since there is Jin (辰) in both the Year and Hour Pillars, this collision may repeat in your childhood environment and in relationships with juniors in later life.

Next come the Ox and the Goat. They are part of the Chuk-Sul-Mi (丑戌未) Three Punishments (三刑), so they easily become relationships of mutual pressure and watching each other warily. In particular, in 2027, the Jeong-mi (丁未) year, Goat-year connections come in strongly. Do not be flustered even if one appears as a new team leader or client. Rather than leading with emotion, if you align the standards of the work in writing, the edge of the punishment (刑) is dulled.

Your Pig month branch and the Snake form the Sa-Hae clash (巳亥沖). Snake-year connections come to the fore again in the Gye-sa (癸巳) Luck Pillar after age 55. Meanwhile, the Rabbit forms a combination (合) with Sul (戌) but a harm (害) with Jin (辰), so a pattern easily develops in which things go well at first and then hurt feelings build up behind the scenes. Because you have the Yin Mis-alignment (陰錯殺) and the Heaven Net (天羅), there are also frustrating moments when words go astray or work gets blocked.

There are three pieces of practical advice. Always put verbal promises in order once more by email or messenger. With people you feel friction with, exchange opinions in settings with a third party present rather than face to face one on one. If your emotions are running high after work, sleep on it and reply again. Keeping just these three greatly reduces the opportunities lost to misunderstanding.

Windows for Promotion and Job Change, and Timing

Let us start with the flow of the Luck Pillars (大運). The Gyeong-in (庚寅) Luck Pillar continuing from age 25 is a period when Seven Killings and Friend come together. Responsibilities grow heavier, but the strength to make your own share grows with them. It is a good time to build skills steadily at one workplace. The Sin-myo (辛卯) Luck Pillar from age 35 is a period when Direct Officer (正官) and Rob Wealth (劫財) come, and Myo (卯) forms a combination with the day branch Sul (戌). It becomes the first good window for a position to rise officially or for deciding to go independent.M5 In the Im-jin (壬辰) Luck Pillar from age 45, water (水), your Useful God, enters the heavenly stem, opening a period in which your depth as a researcher and expert is recognized. However, the Jin-Sul clash grows strong again, so job changes and moves may become frequent. In the Gye-sa (癸巳) Luck Pillar from age 55, Direct Resource (正印) arrives and the weight shifts toward advising, lecturing, and training the next generation.

In terms of annual luck (歲運), in the 2026 Byeong-o (丙午) year you are now passing through, Eating God and Hurting Officer move together. The In (寅) Luck Pillar meets O (午) and Sul (戌), and fire (火) energy rises strongly. It is a year when ideas and expression explode, but do not rush the finish. I recommend using the remaining two months for organizing and recording rather than starting new things. In 2027 your sense for wealth comes alive, but punishment (刑) overlaps, so it is better to consolidate your skills in your current position than to change jobs. In the 2029 Gi-yu (己酉) year Direct Officer arrives, but Void (空亡) overlaps and the strength may spin uselessly, so avoid forcing any big gamble. The most stable window is the 2030 Gyeong-sul (庚戌) year. It is an auspicious (吉) year in which your foundation firms up, making it a good place to carry out a promotion or going independent.

How to Cross the Hard Seasons

The year to be most careful about is 2028, the Mu-sin (戊申) year. Sin (申) is a position where Seven Killings comes in strongly. Yet this year falls into Void based on the Day Pillar, and Sin (申) and the month branch Hae (亥) are in a harm (害) relationship. It is a year when the power of Jeong (丁) fire to refine the Seven Killings weakens, so pressure and responsibility from above pile up all at once, and you easily feel that your own effort is being spent into thin air. In such a period, the safest course is to put off new investments and expansion, large guarantees, and partnership commitments. Immerse yourself in work that builds up inward, such as studying, preparing for qualifications, and health checkups.

Among the patterns Korean office workers commonly go through, be careful of two. One is being pushed out when a reorganization of departments overlaps with the season of recommended resignations (being urged to resign). In that case, keeping a written record of your work results as a matter of course changes your bargaining power. The other is suddenly deciding to quit after being passed over for promotion and getting hurt. It is a period when the sharpness of the Hurting Officer mixes into your decisions, so finalize any decision to resign only after at least a month of deliberation. Taking a detour through a leave of absence or further study is also a good choice. If you are worried about conflict on returning to work, ask a diagonal mentor for their opinion before you leave.

Care of body and mind is also important. Since this is a chart with thick earth, the digestive system and skin, and lethargy coming from stagnant energy, tend to become signals. In terms of seasons, drink plenty of water in dry autumn and during the seasonal transitions when the earth dries out, and keep your balance with water-energy activities such as walking or swimming. A hard year is not a test but a time of putting down roots. Once you pass through 2029 and 2030 opens, the study you have planted until now is likely to come back as visible results.

10-year Luck Pillars (大運), period by period

First Luck Pillar (ages 5-14): Mu-ja (戊子)

In this period Indirect Wealth (偏財) arrives through the stem as Mu (戊) earth, and Direct Resource (正印) arrives through the branch as Ja (子) water. The natal chart already holds two Jin (辰), so when Ja (子) comes, the Ja-Jin (子辰) half-combination gathers the energy of water. It also links up with the water channel of the month branch Hae (亥), which means the Useful God (用神) you need most, Water (水), arrives early, in childhood. For a while this combination also soaks and softens the harsh sound made by the Jin-Sul clash (辰戌沖) in the natal chart. In the heavens, however, Mu (戊) earth overlaps with the Mu (戊) of the hour stem (時干) and adds weight to the earth. So it can also take the shape of a thick lid of earth laid over a stream running underground.

The theme of these ten years is learning and protection (Resource stars), with a light layer of practical sense (Wealth stars) on top. It is likely a period when the care of a mother or caregiver, books and teachers are a source of strength. The thing to watch for is the stagnation that comes when earth piles up too much. It tends to show as the body becoming sluggish or eating becoming one-sided, and the heart may grow heavy as the child wakes early to comparison and evaluation.

What is worth leaning on are activities that bring the energy of water into the body, such as reading, writing, swimming or walks by the water. Regular sleep also helps. If you are the adult, ask the child about curiosity before asking about grades. The attitude worth holding in this period is "treating learning like play." Knowledge that builds up slowly, the way water soaks in, becomes a solid base in every Luck Pillar that follows. I recommend spending this period in the spirit of clearing away the earth one shovelful at a time and keeping the water channel open.

Second Luck Pillar (ages 15-24): Gi-chuk (己丑)

Gi (己) earth comes in as Direct Wealth (正財), and Chuk (丑) earth comes in as Direct Wealth again, so the energy of the land grows a layer thicker. The stem Gi (己) forms a six-combination (六合) with the Day Master (日干) Gap (甲). A combination looks like a warm bond, but here it also means that the color of "me" can be dyed by the earth. In the branches, the Chuk-Sul punishment (丑戌刑) and the Chuk-Jin break (丑辰破) take hold at the same time. Practical matters such as friendships, career path and family expectations tend to be put to the test all at once. Chuk (丑) is the wet earth of winter, holding Gye (癸) water inside, and together with the month branch Hae (亥) it half forms the direction of water (亥子丑). So it is not completely dry land; it is closer to a frozen field waiting for spring.

The theme is wealth and diligence, in other words being judged by reality. It may be the period when you first experience things that "pay back exactly what you put in," such as entrance exams, a first part-time job, or choosing a career path.19 The thing to watch for is taking on too much responsibility. Because earth presses down on the Day Master, when fatigue builds up the signals tend to come through the stomach or the skin. You should also be wary of being drawn along by the combination and living only according to others' expectations.

What is worth leaning on is the steadiness of digging one well, visible results such as qualifications or skills, and regular exercise that uses the body.20 In relationships, the habit of not making promises lightly reduces the sharpness of the punishment (刑). The attitude worth holding in this period is "silent accumulation." If you think of it as ten years for putting down roots before worrying about speed, your mind will feel much lighter.

Third Luck Pillar (ages 25-34): Gyeong-in (庚寅)

Gyeong (庚) metal comes in as Seven Killings (偏官), and In (寅) wood comes in as Friend (比肩). In the stems, Gyeong (庚) forms a clash (沖) with the Day Master Gap (甲). It is the shape of an axe trying to cut down a tree, so this is a period when the pressure of work and society is felt directly in the body. Even so, the natal chart has a structure in which the month stem Jeong (丁) fire tempers Gyeong (庚) metal, so there is room for raw pressure to be refined into technique and skill. The branch In (寅) is a welcome root. The Day Master gains strength from the ground, the In-Hae (寅亥) six-combination joins hands with the month branch, and the In-Sul (寅戌) half-combination brings the energy of fire to life. However, In-Hae (寅亥) also carries the quality of a break (破), so small cracks may come along with good things.

The theme is career, responsibility and competition. It is likely to be ten years of entering an organization, being evaluated, and finding your place while clashing with superiors or systems.21 The things to watch for are overwork, injuries to the joints and ligaments, and disputes and gossip. Big decisions such as changing jobs or going independent are better made after a pause than when emotions are running high.

What is worth leaning on is professional skill, seniors or mentors you can trust, and colleagues walking the same road.22 Gyeong (庚) metal is also the energy that gives birth to water, so if you turn this pressure into study and inner strength, it becomes the foundation for your Useful God, Water, later on. The attitude worth holding in this period is "not avoiding the tempering." Just as iron heated in the fire becomes a blade, the time you endure becomes your edge later.

Fourth Luck Pillar (ages 35-44): Sin-myo (辛卯)

Sin (辛) metal comes in as Direct Officer (正官), and Myo (卯) wood comes in as Rob Wealth (劫財). The branch Myo (卯) forms a six-combination with Sul (戌), loosening the natal Jin-Sul clash from one side, and with the month branch Hae (亥) it forms the Hae-Myo (亥卯) half-combination, enlarging the force of wood. It is a structure in which the Day Master gains strength. On the other hand, Myo (卯) and Jin (辰) are in a relationship of harm (害), so minor friction with the two Jin (辰) continues. On the surface things look smooth, but hurt feelings build up inside, so unspoken discomfort tends to arise. The stem Sin (辛) has the shape of melting under the month stem Jeong (丁) fire. Even if a title or honor comes, that position may be a burden that feels like being scorched by fire.

The theme is status and reputation, and disputes over money with colleagues. Rob Wealth (劫財) can also mean siblings, business partners and competitors, so this may be a period when the people you work with affect the flow of money. The things to watch for are acting as guarantor, partnerships and impulsive spending. Also be wary of discomfort that starts in the mind, such as nervous indigestion.

What is worth leaning on are public roles, work that builds trust, and the experience of leading a team. The habit of putting promises that involve money in writing is good. The attitude worth holding in this period is "restrained dignity." Just as a gardener prunes branches to keep a tree healthy, when you let go of some desire, your reputation actually grows firmer.

Fifth Luck Pillar (ages 45-54): Im-jin (壬辰)

Im (壬) water comes in as Indirect Resource (偏印), and Jin (辰) earth comes in as Indirect Wealth (偏財). This is the period when Water, the Useful God you need, appears directly in the stems. It forms the Jeong-Im combination (丁壬合) with the month stem Jeong (丁) fire, binding the sharp spark of Hurting Officer (傷官) and turning it into the energy of wood. Jin (辰) is a storehouse that holds water (水庫), so it also becomes a place where Im (壬) can put down roots. The year stem Gyeong (庚) metal gives birth to Im (壬), so the strength you tempered in the earlier Luck Pillars takes the shape of becoming water and flowing here. Meanwhile, in the branches, Jin (辰) increases to three and forms self-punishment (自刑), and the Jin-Sul clash rings out loudly again. Moves, real estate and changes in the family may come riding on this clash.

The theme is scholarship and expertise, and the reorganization of property. It is likely to be ten years of being recognized for depth in one field, or newly arranging your assets and living base. The things to watch for are isolation from thinking too much, fatigue of the stomach and digestive system, and greed over large land or houses.

What is worth leaning on is study, qualifications, teaching juniors, and consulting with people you can trust. This period may become the brightest chapter of your life, but because of the clash, I recommend choosing the season and taking any big move slowly. The attitude worth holding in this period is "flowing low like deep water." Water that stays low soaks dry land the farthest.

Sixth Luck Pillar (ages 55-64): Gye-sa (癸巳)

Gye (癸) water comes in as Direct Resource (正印), and Sa (巳) fire comes in as Eating God (食神). This Luck Pillar strikes the Month Pillar Jeong-hae (丁亥) head on. In the stems the Jeong-Gye clash (丁癸沖) and in the branches the Sa-Hae clash (巳亥沖) overlap. The month branch Hae (亥) is where the Day Master gets Long Life (長生), and that root is shaken. With the hour stem Mu (戊), the Mu-Gye combination (戊癸合) holds one strand, but there is also the Sa-Sul resentment (巳戌怨嗔), so some hurt may linger in a corner of the heart for a long time. It is a period in which fire and water collide on one board, so plans may suddenly change or there may be shifts in family and career.

The theme is rest and expression, in other words retirement or a change of role. Eating God (食神) is the power to enjoy, and Direct Resource (正印) is peace of mind, so it is a fitting time to reduce work and move toward hobbies and learning. The things to watch for are blood pressure and the cardiovascular system, eye strain and insomnia. Because water and fire (水火) collide in this structure, emotional ups and downs may show up in the body. Financially, too, it is better to protect than to expand recklessly.

What is worth leaning on are regular health checkups, the pleasure of using your hands such as cooking, writing or crafts, and scaling your life down by one step. I recommend making big decisions while avoiding the years when the clash is strongest. The attitude worth holding in this period is "letting go and putting in order." If you drop anchor firmly and lighten your load while the rough waves pass, these ten years become the safest voyage.

Seventh Luck Pillar (ages 65-74): Gap-o (甲午)

Gap (甲) wood comes in as Friend (比肩), and O (午) fire comes in as Hurting Officer (傷官). The stem Gap (甲) is the same tree as the Day Master, so colleagues and friends gather around, but the Gap-Gyeong clash (甲庚沖) with the year stem Gyeong (庚) takes hold again. Old matters or problems tangled with the older generation may come up again. The branch O (午) forms a half-combination with Sul (戌) to create a force of fire, and with Hae (亥) it connects quietly through a hidden combination (暗合). The problem is dryness. When fire is added, the already thick earth dries further into something like a cracked field, and water runs short. The situation resembles a flame burning on dry firewood.

The theme is friends and expression, in other words sharing between people. Friend (比肩) means peers and gatherings, and Hurting Officer (傷官) means eloquence and talent. It is likely to be ten years of regaining your presence by teaching, writing or passing on stories. The things to watch for are slips of the tongue and excessive bluntness, acting as guarantor or lending money to friends, and fatigue related to the heart and heat.

What is worth leaning on are the habit of drinking plenty of water, walks by the water or in the woods, and occasions for passing your experience on to juniors. A flame is beautiful when it has a use, and becomes a wound when it spreads without direction. The attitude worth holding in this period is "short words, warm hands." When you hold back one more word, people actually stay by your side longer.

Eighth Luck Pillar (ages 75-84): Eul-mi (乙未)

Eul (乙) wood comes in as Rob Wealth (劫財), and Mi (未) earth comes in as Direct Wealth (正財). The stem Eul (乙) forms a combination with the year stem Gyeong (庚). It gently binds the blade of Seven Killings (偏官) that had stood against you for so long, a combination that can be read as a reconciliation with the years. In the branches, Mi (未) forms the Hae-Mi (亥未) half-combination with the month branch Hae (亥) and adds to the energy of wood. On the other hand, there is the Mi-Sul punishment (未戌刑), so there is the sound of dry earth knocking against dry earth. Mi (未) is hot, dry ground holding the end of summer, so signals may come through dryness of the digestive system, joints and skin.

The theme is sharing with family and a modest settling of finances. Rob Wealth (劫財) points to dividing shares with siblings or those close to you, and Direct Wealth (正財) to stable living expenses and questions of inheritance. The things to watch for are money issues within the family, hurt feelings that come from loneliness, and meals becoming irregular. If you settle inheritance or gifts in words ahead of time while your mind is at ease, there will be fewer sparks later.

What is worth leaning on are regular meals with people close to you, light walks, and a life that keeps water nearby. Exchanging greetings with neighbors or old friends also becomes dew falling on dry ground. The attitude worth holding in this period is "the ease of sharing." A person who slowly hands over what they held on to has a light heart even in the last season.

The Big Flow of the Luck Pillars (大運)

Your Luck Pillars draw a curve in which water arrives early, is tempered by colliding with earth, and opens up widely in the middle. In childhood, at Mu-ja (戊子), the Useful God Water reaches out first, and at Gi-chuk (己丑) and Gyeong-in (庚寅) you build skill while enduring the weight of earth and the pressure of metal. At Sin-myo (辛卯) you sort out reputation and issues with colleagues, and the brightest time is ages 45-54 at Im-jin (壬辰). Then the Useful God Water appears in the heavens, and it is highly likely that the study and experience of past years will bear fruit all at once. By contrast, the time that needs the most careful attention is ages 55-64 at Gye-sa (癸巳). Years that clash with the Month Pillar continue, so it is good to check your health and the frame of your life in advance and reduce your scale. The teenage Gi-chuk (己丑) is also a time of small tests, and then the warm support of the adults around you is a great strength. After that, Gap-o (甲午) and Eul-mi (乙未) are a latter part that leans toward sharing and peace rather than splendor. Byeong-sin (丙申), which comes after age 85, touches the character that is empty (空亡) in the natal chart, so it looks like a flow that will pass relatively lightly. In the end this chart has the structure of "water that shines late," so do not be impatient with the slowness of the early part; trust the opening in the middle and keep walking.

The Grain of Your Inner Life: Your Spiritual Depth and the Weather of Your Mind

The Day Master (日干) Gap (甲) wood stands in the middle of the four pillars. It looks like a great tree standing at the threshold where late autumn turns to winter (亥月). The chart holds as many as four Earth (土). Earth is the ground where a tree puts down roots, and also the weight that presses on those roots. So your mind looks heavy and steady from the outside, but inside you tend to keep weighing, "Am I carrying this ground right now, or standing on it?"

Long Life (長生) in the month branch and Nurture (養) in the day branch are good signs. They mean that deep in your mind there is a power to raise yourself again. Even when you are worn out, you tend to recover like a sprout coming up if you stay quiet for a while. By contrast, Decline (衰) in the year branch and hour branch suggests that the positions of childhood and old age are somewhat thin. In childhood there may not have been a thick enough place for your heart to lean on. That is likely why you formed the habit of turning thoughts over on your own from early on.

The Canopy Star (華蓋) in Jin (辰) earth and Sul (戌) earth appears twice. This star has the energy of a quiet study or a lamp in a mountain temple. Your mind is clearest when you are alone, and even among people you easily keep the eye of an observer who stands one step back. Winter water (亥水) flows close to your roots, so your thoughts are deep and your sensitivity is rich. But just as water soaks into earth, feelings often disappear into the earth before they show on the surface.

The prescription is simple. Deliberately set aside time in the day when you do not have to speak. Twenty minutes of walking in the morning or a cup of tea in the evening is enough. And with one or two people you can trust, let your true feelings flow out like water before the earth dries. Your steadiness grows firmer when you let things flow out rather than piling them up.

Faith and Spirituality: Which Direction Suits You

In your chart, spirituality shows itself in the form of quiet contemplation rather than elaborate ritual. The Canopy Star (華蓋) appears more than once, and Hae (亥) water, which corresponds to Indirect Resource (偏印), sits in the month branch, so your mind leans toward exploring invisible principles. This structure commonly suits paths that turn inward, such as meditation, philosophy, reading scripture, or prayer while walking alone. You are closer to the type whose heart opens when sitting alone in a quiet chapel or mountain temple than to faith that becomes one in the heat of a crowd.

The Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) in the Month Pillar is also worth noting. This star signifies a temperament for which learning itself becomes practice. So rather than accepting doctrine on belief alone, an intellectual faith that takes something to heart after asking "why is it so" comes more naturally. Traditions where thought and experience meet suit you well, such as Zen (禪) and Yogacara (唯識) in Buddhism, Confucian self-cultivation, and the Christian mystical tradition or contemplative prayer. This is not a chart that must belong to one particular tradition. There is nothing wrong with moving between several teachings and making a grain of your own.23

The Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇) is a rare composition in which Gap (甲), Mu (戊) and Gyeong (庚) gather in one chart. It is commonly interpreted as a sign of unusual discernment and inspiration, and of an intuition that reads large currents. To keep this inspiration from drifting into fantasy cut off from reality, you need rituals that use the body. Things like bowing, walking and breathing practice.

There are also points to be careful about. A structure in which Heaven Net (天羅) appears twice signals a tendency to get caught in a net of your own thoughts. If spiritual exploration turns into self-censorship or excessive isolation, the mind actually narrows. On the path of faith or practice, if you keep one teacher or fellow practitioner with whom you can exchange questions and answers, the net turns into a breathing hole. Deepening alone without becoming completely alone is how the spirituality of this chart grows in a healthy way.

Hobbies That Suit You: Places for Rest and Recharging

You have the temperament of a great tree with a thick energy of earth, so you tend to recharge most comfortably in activities where you slowly make and tend something with your hands. A chart with much earth has a deep affinity with handling earth. Hobbies where you spend time feeling the texture of materials, such as keeping a vegetable patch, repotting plants, pottery, woodworking or leather craft, lighten the weight on your mind. It is like recovering, in daily life, the feeling of a tree meeting the ground.

On the side of using your head, reading, copying out classics by hand, studying history or philosophy, and quiet strategy games like baduk or janggi suit you well. Thanks to the combination of the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) and the Canopy Star (華蓋), you become deeply absorbed when digging into a new field. But a structure with much earth does not move easily once it settles, so if you stay too long in hobbies done only with the head, the body may stiffen.

For activities that use the body, exercise with a steady rhythm suits you, such as walking, hiking, light swimming, yoga or tai chi. In particular, since Water (水) is the Useful God (用神), time spent walking or swimming by a river, the sea or a lake evens out your energy. Exercise you sustain for a long time at your own breathing pace suits your body better than intense competitive sports. A slow, soaking approach is good, like watering a dry tree.

If you want a hobby with other people, gatherings where conversation flows slowly suit you, such as a small reading group, a tea gathering, or cooking together. Big parties or noisy gatherings tend to drain your energy after only an hour or two. The best way to recharge is to leave one day off empty and pick, that morning, the activity your heart is drawn to.

Creative Talent: Writing, Sound, Painting, the Stage

In Saju, creative talent is read through the Output stars (食傷), in other words the stars of expression. In your chart, Jeong (丁) fire, Hurting Officer (傷官), sits firmly in the month stem. It is a talent like a small lamp lit at the threshold of midwinter. Rather than flashing brightly, it is a fire that burns softly for a long time in the dark, so its strength is in careful observation and refined expression.

The most prominent path is writing. It is a structure in which Hae (亥) water, Indirect Resource (偏印), gives depth of contemplation, and Jeong (丁) fire, Hurting Officer (傷官), brings it out into language. Essays, reflective columns, poetry, humanities writing, or genres that unfold stories chewed over for a long time suit you. With the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人), you can also be expected to have the skill of weaving knowledge together with feeling.

In the visual arts, with this much earth energy, you have a good sense of texture and form. Media in which the presence of the material is alive suit you well, such as ceramics, sculpture, ink painting and photography. Restrained tones and empty space gain strength in your hands more than bright colors. The doubled Golden Carriage (金輿) also supports this path with a neat, dignified sense of beauty that is ingrained in you.

In music or performance, ways of becoming absorbed alone, such as playing or composing, come more naturally. Filling a space with a calm melody suits you better than pouring out great energy on stage.M6 Work that conveys depth with the voice, such as reading aloud or narration, is also a possibility.

But Hurting Officer (傷官) can also become an eye that demands perfection. If you are already a judge before you write, the flame weakens. I recommend pouring out a rough first draft where no one will see it, letting it sit for a few days, and then refining it. Practicing steadily showing small results turns talent into real fruit.

The Direction of Growth: What This Chart Wants Over a Lifetime

What your chart wants over a lifetime is to turn the earth piled up into a road. A structure with four earth, and a thick energy of Indirect Wealth (偏財) at that, is a sign that the weight of real-world responsibility, possession and relationships is felt heavily. Water (水), the Useful God (用神), is the force that soaks that earth so the tree can grow. So the key to growth is not carrying more, but drawing the flow of learning, contemplation and feeling into your life.

The Luck Pillars (大運) show this direction clearly. The early Mu-ja (戊子) and Gi-chuk (己丑) were periods where water and earth mixed, so they would have been times for laying a foundation. Gyeong-in (庚寅) from age 25 and Sin-myo (辛卯) from age 35 are periods when metal (金) and wood (木) collide and you strive to find your own path, a stretch in which identity is tempered. In Im-jin (壬辰) from age 45, Water, the Useful God, enters the stems, and long-accumulated experience may turn into depth while the power of learning and putting things in order grows. In the following Gye-sa (癸巳), the help of water continues.

The flow of the coming years is also worth noting. From Byeong-o (丙午) in 2026 to Mu-sin (戊申) in 2028, the flow reads as somewhat rough. In this period it is better to tend the inside than to expand anew. If you put your energy into tending the roots, such as study, health checkups, sorting out relationships and writing, you can take in the energy that rises after 2029 much more easily.

Reduced to a few directions for practice, it comes to this. First, make learning a lifelong habit. Second, practice bringing your true feelings out in speech and writing. Third, deliberately seek out times and places with the energy of water, such as the waterside, winter and night. These three are the way for a great tree pressed down by earth to stretch upward again.

Inner Conflict and Its Patterns

The most noticeable tension in your inner life is the structure in which Jin (辰) earth and Sul (戌) earth collide. The Jin (辰) of the year branch, the Sul (戌) of the day branch and the Jin (辰) of the hour branch face each other, so in your mind it takes the shape of earth pushing and pulling tautly against earth. Translated into psychology, it is a pattern in which "the me that wants to take responsibility" and "the me that wants to escape," "the me that wants to protect reality" and "the me that wants to withdraw into the inner world," take turns raising their voices. The tendency for part of your mind to keep looking back at the other road even after a decision is made comes from here.

On top of this, Heaven Net (天羅) overlaps twice. It is a net formed where Sul (戌) and Hae (亥) meet, and it signifies a maze of thought in which, once a thought starts turning, it circles without finding an exit. When the resentment (怨嗔) energy between Jin (辰) and Hae (亥) is added, you may be unable to tell people close to you about your hurt feelings and swallow them inside until misunderstandings pile up. Yin Mis-alignment (陰錯殺) points to a misalignment between the heart and its expression. Experiences may repeat in which words meant well are received differently, or the timing goes astray at the very moment that matters.

Fortunately, the Void (空亡) has no corresponding position in this chart, so there is no structurally open hole in the mind. With the Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人) and Heaven Virtue Harmony (天德合), there is also a force by which unexpected help or the center of the mind returns at moments of crisis.

The direction of healing is to untangle the net of thought through the body and water. When your head is circling, write all your thoughts on paper and put them in front of your eyes. Then wash in warm water or walk by a river. With people close to you, try opening first with a light sentence like "It's not that I'm hurt right now, but I have this feeling." I recommend the habit of sleeping on big decisions and looking at them again in the morning. When water flows between two colliding earths, it becomes not a collision but fertile land.

Meditation and Self-Care That Suit You

The practice that suits you is quiet and regular, with body and breath moving together. Because of the energies of the Canopy Star (華蓋) and Indirect Resource (偏印), practice done alone is the base. Counting-breath meditation (數息觀) or mindfulness meditation, sitting for 10 to 20 minutes at dawn or night when you will not be disturbed, suits you well. With much earth in the structure, still seated practice is not hard for you, but if you only sit still, thoughts easily cast a net, so mix in walking meditation or light stretching. Ways of governing the breath while moving, such as yoga, tai chi or qigong, balance stillness and movement.

Nature is the better place. In particular, since Water (水) is the Useful God (用神), practice by a river, lake, sea or valley directly replenishes your energy. If you live in the city, sitting by the window on a rainy day, a warm bath, a foot bath, or five minutes of sitting after a shower can stand in for it. Placing a small water-sound device or a water basin in your room is a modest but effective method.

Now and then, try joining a small meditation group, a temple stay, or a silent retreat. It reduces the risk of isolation that appears as solitary practice deepens. A quiet gathering of about five people is more comfortable than large group practice.

For everyday self-care, I recommend keeping regular sleep hours and paying attention to warm food and fluid intake. When the energy of earth is thick, tension easily builds in the digestive system, shoulders and lower back, so a light walk after meals and regular massage or stretching help. In terms of season, winter and night are friendly to your energy. When you are worn out, first turn the fire down and keep water close. That is the surest order of recovery in this chart.

The big picture: the flow of a lifetime

The Story Your Chart Tells

If this chart were read as a book, it would be closest to a coming-of-age novel about a great tree standing at the entrance to early winter, putting down roots in the earth on every side and searching for water. The Day Master (日干) Gap (甲) wood is a great tree that grows straight. But the ground this tree stands on has the energy of earth layered four times over. A chart with Wealth stars (財星) this thick commonly tends to shoulder the weight of worldly affairs and responsibility, people and money, from early on. The tree has to push through that ground, so it is hard work, but it is also a person who holds fertile soil. The month branch Hae (亥) water feeds this tree the water of Long Life (長生). So even if the front of the book starts heavily, it reads as a structure in which the roots deepen and the trunk grows sturdier toward the back. Since the Useful God (用神) is water, learning, the help of elders, rest and contemplation are this tree's spring. If you only strain on dry land you wear out, but if you open a water channel first, the same land becomes a rich field. The theme of this book is moving from "the strength to endure" to "the strength to grow things."

The Period When You Shine Most, and the Period That Demands the Most

Of the four periods, the times that shine brightest are youth (month branch) and middle age (day branch). Long Life (長生) in youth is the strength of a sprout just coming up, and the Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人), the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) and Hidden Pay (暗祿) stand beside it. It is a structure in which what you learn and master becomes an asset, and a way to make a living opens in unseen places. Nurture (養) in middle age is the stage of raising something slowly within your embrace. The more you lay the foundation without hurrying, the fuller the fruit.

Childhood and old age both sit at Decline (衰), so they demand more. In childhood the environment may not have been as warm as you would have liked, or you may have had to grow up early, and in old age you need the wisdom of using your energy sparingly. Both positions are supported by the Golden Carriage (金輿) and the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇), so as hard as it gets, a helping hand will surely follow.

Laid over the Korean-style life cycle, the Luck Pillars (大運) look like this. Establishing yourself (立身) in your 20s falls at the turn from Gi-chuk (己丑) to Gyeong-in (庚寅), a time when you endure the weight of earth and then find your own root in In (寅). Self-reliance in your 30s comes as the wood (木) energy of Sin-myo (辛卯) sets up colleagues and your own place. Stability in your 40s is when the water of the Useful God enters at Im-jin (壬辰), and you are most likely to breathe freely. The 50s, a returning light (回光), continue into Gye-sa (癸巳) as the power to look inward grows, and the 60s, a time of gathering in, is when at Gap-o (甲午) you collect your story and pass it on. Mu-sin (戊申) in 2028 is a year with a heavy flow, so I recommend using it for checking and putting in order rather than big expansion.

The Three Values Your Life Moves Toward

The first is depth. Just as Gap (甲) wood meets winter water and spreads its roots, you gain strength when you dig deep into one place rather than scattering widely. The Hall of Learning and the Canopy Star (華蓋殺), which appears twice, point in this direction. The Canopy Star is time spent absorbed alone, scholarship and art, and an attraction to spirituality. The path of a craftsman who holds on to one thing for a long time and hones it suits you well.

The second is stability. A chart with much earth tends to crave solid ground in the heart. With thick Wealth stars, protecting the base of life, that is, home and income and the people you are responsible for, becomes an important motive. But this stability has to be one in which water circulates, not one of piling things up. When you let some of what you earn flow back into learning and rest, the tree does not dry out.

The third is expression. The month stem Jeong (丁) fire is Hurting Officer (傷官). It is the force that wants to send out the thoughts and senses you have kept in your heart through speech, writing and skill.24 Used well, this fire becomes a warm lamp, and blocked, it becomes frustration inside. If you form the habit of choosing your words, that is, of taking one breath before you speak, this talent lifts people up instead of hurting them. Life tends to move in this order: putting down roots through depth, raising the trunk through stability, and spreading the branches through expression.

The Great Task to Work Through in This Life

"The great task to work through in this life" in this chart reads as two things. One is the Jin-Sul clash (辰戌沖). The Jin (辰) of the year and hour branches collide with the Sul (戌) of the day branch, so in important places in life the mind tends to waver and crossroads inside and out tend to repeat. Because the day branch, the spouse's position, shakes along with it, this wave often shows itself in close relationships. But a clash is also a force that opens closed doors. Jin (辰) is a storehouse that holds water, so the moment of collision may instead open up buried water, that is, hidden talent and help. I recommend not rushing big decisions while emotions are surging, and making them after letting a season pass.

The other is a weak Day Master handling thick Wealth stars. No element is missing, but with four earth there is a lean, and the tree tends to run short of strength. So the sense of responsibility that says "I have to do it all" can wear you out. The task is not to carry more, but to learn how to draw up water, your Useful God, by yourself. Keep a good teacher or senior close by, and put sleep, study and time alone on your schedule first. The Void (空亡) is Sin (申) and Yu (酉), but there is no corresponding position in the chart, so you need not worry about wavering caused by an empty place. If you use the chart as a tool of returning light to reflect on yourself (回光返照), this task reads not as a punishment but as a promise.

The Great Gift Your Life Brings

The most precious gift is the Three Wonders of Heaven (天上三奇). Gap (甲), Mu (戊) and Gyeong (庚) sit side by side in the Year, Day and Hour Pillars, supporting early life, middle age and later life alike. It is commonly read as unusual discernment, a large vessel, and the power for a road to open in a crisis. Noble helpers may often appear in unexpected places.

The auspicious stars (吉星) also help differently in each position. The Moon Virtue Noble (月德貴人) in the day branch becomes a virtue that lessens faults and resolves difficulties, and Heaven Virtue Harmony (天德合) assists that virtue, working to make great misfortune small. The Hall of Learning (學堂貴人) in the month branch makes study, qualifications and expertise the capital of a lifetime. The Golden Carriage (金輿) in the Year and Hour Pillars adds a grain of dignity, comfort and a good spouse bond, and Hidden Pay (暗祿) in the month branch is a hidden blessing, like the "pay" in pay-and-horse (祿馬), by which your livelihood is not cut off even if it does not show. Yin Mis-alignment (陰錯殺) and Heaven Net (天羅) are signals that tell you when your mind feels stifled or things get tangled, so at those times you only need to step back and rest.

The good seasons are the periods when water, your Useful God, comes in. Im-jin (壬辰) and Gye-sa (癸巳) are especially so, and after forty-five is a time when learning bears fruit and the help of elders reaches you. Gyeong-sul (庚戌) in 2030 is also a year to look forward to as a time of breathing freely.

To You: One Word

If there were passages that felt heavy as you read this far, please remember that the weight does not speak of your weakness. That the ground is thick means there is that much to cultivate. Tonight, sit quietly with a warm cup of tea and count how many times this year you have drawn water for yourself. A person who rests well and learns well does not dry up in any season. Auspicious stars are already beside you, the Three Wonders are there, and water waiting for its time is there. You do not need to hurry. A great tree always grows slowly.

Saju does not decide your fate; it is a map for living well.

04The reading against the record

The numbers match the badges in the text above. The upper line is what the reading said; the lower line is the documented fact.

1
Rather than waiting for others to pave the way, you are the type who walks it yourself and learns by running into things.
In April 1959, at 18, he crossed alone to the United States and settled in Seattle. From then on he made his own way in study, teaching martial arts and acting.
2
Like rain falling on hard ground, a gentle intervention often unlocks a blocked problem better.
His best-known line is "Be water, my friend." In the 1971 TV series Longstreet he used it himself to describe meeting a situation like water, without a fixed form.
3
Ages 25 to 44, continuing through Gyeong-in (庚寅) and Sin-myo (辛卯), are a period when the tree's roots break through the ground and your stage of activity widens.
The Gyeong-in Luck Pillar is 1964 to 1973. His 1964 demonstration at the Long Beach International Karate Championships, the role of Kato in ABC's The Green Hornet (1966 to 1967), The Big Boss, Fist of Fury and The Way of the Dragon (1971 to 1972), and the 1973 filming of Enter the Dragon all fall within these ten years.
4
On the other hand, in places where abstract meetings drag on or where only authority is put forward, the Hurting Officer easily sharpens its edge.
In 1971 he published "Liberate Yourself from Classical Karate" in Black Belt magazine, openly criticizing a martial arts world that leaned on the authority of forms and tradition.
5
Because you have the Hall of Learning (學堂貴人), you also gain strength in scenes where you explain what you have learned to others.
Soon after arriving in the US he began teaching martial arts in Seattle, and went on to open schools in Seattle, Oakland (1964) and Los Angeles's Chinatown (1967).
6
so you easily stand out in work expressed through hands and mind, such as writing, design, speaking, or technical skills.
In 1963, at 22, he published his first book, Chinese Gung-Fu: The Philosophical Art of Self-Defense, with James Yimm Lee of Oakland.
7
Your major or job may have been a little unusual, or you may have worked by digging one well deep.
After starting Wing Chun at about sixteen, he followed a single path to the end: martial arts teacher and martial arts actor.
8
The person this combination shapes tends to have a strong sense of reality and to be a hands-on type who produces results under pressure.
The Jeet Kune Do he founded drew on Wing Chun and also on Western boxing and fencing, and judged techniques by whether they worked in a real confrontation rather than by set forms.
9
The Three Wonders of Heaven is a rare configuration in which Gap (甲), Mu (戊), and Gyeong (庚) come together in one chart, and it signifies a talent that departs from the ordinary path.
Enter the Dragon (1973) was made jointly by his Concord Production, Golden Harvest and Warner Bros., and is counted as the first co-production between a Hollywood major and a Hong Kong studio.
10
In work, under the influence of the Three Wonders of Heaven, you shine when you set up your own way rather than following a set path.
In 1972 he wrote, directed and starred in The Way of the Dragon. It was the first film of Concord Production, the company he founded with Raymond Chow.
11
So you tend to show more strength in "periods of building up bit by bit while working" than in "periods when you can do nothing but study".
In Seattle he lived and worked as a waiter at Ruby Chow's restaurant, finished high school at Edison Technical School in the meantime, and entered the University of Washington in 1961.
12
results are more likely to grow when you dig in your own way than when you follow a set course.
In 1967 he named his own system, which belonged to no existing style, Jeet Kune Do (截拳道). Its core principle is "using no way as way."
13
The Canopy Star is linked to fields of solitary, deep study such as philosophy, religion, the arts, the humanities, and research.
At the University of Washington (1961 to 1964) he took philosophy and psychology courses beyond his official major, drama. He went on to explain martial arts in the language of philosophy.
14
Apprenticeship-style and on-site learning also suit you well.
In his late teens in Hong Kong he became a student of Ip Man (葉問) and learned Wing Chun, in a traditional master and disciple relationship where skill is learned through the body.
15
you have the temperament of a researcher who digs into one field for a long time. Put simply, on the outside you are a hands-on practitioner, but on the inside you are a person who studies.
He left extensive notes on martial arts theory and training, later compiled and published as Tao of Jeet Kune Do.
16
Education, lecturing, content: the place where the expressiveness of the Hurting Officer meets the knowledge of the Indirect Resource.
Besides his own schools, he gave private lessons to Hollywood actors and athletes such as Steve McQueen, James Coburn and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
17
Between the organizational type and the startup type, you are closer to the startup type.
Rather than joining an employer, he opened kung fu schools under his own name (Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute) in three cities, and in 1972 co-founded the production company Concord Production.
18
diagonal mentors are more decisive than the official direct reporting line.
In 1964 Ed Parker invited him to demonstrate at the Long Beach championships; hair stylist Jay Sebring saw him and told producer William Dozier about him. That chain led to his casting in The Green Hornet.
19
such as entrance exams, a first part-time job, or choosing a career path.
The Gi-chuk Luck Pillar is 1954 to 1963. His 1959 move to the US, his waiter job, his 1961 entry to the University of Washington and his first book in 1963 all fall in this stretch.
20
What is worth leaning on is the steadiness of digging one well, visible results such as qualifications or skills, and regular exercise that uses the body.
Within the same Gi-chuk period, in 1958, he won a Hong Kong inter-school boxing tournament, while continuing his Wing Chun training.
21
It is likely to be ten years of entering an organization, being evaluated, and finding your place while clashing with superiors or systems.
During the Gyeong-in period (1964 to 1973) Hollywood kept him in a supporting role in The Green Hornet without a lead, and in 1971 he signed with Golden Harvest in Hong Kong and became a leading man. The next year the lead in Warner Bros.' TV series Kung Fu went to David Carradine.
22
What is worth leaning on is professional skill, seniors or mentors you can trust, and colleagues walking the same road.
He opened the Oakland school in 1964 with James Yimm Lee, and Dan Inosanto worked with him as assistant instructor at the Los Angeles school in 1967. In Seattle there was Taky Kimura.
23
There is nothing wrong with moving between several teachings and making a grain of your own.
His thinking drew together Taoism, Zen Buddhism and Jiddu Krishnamurti, who told people not to follow any tradition or doctrine.
24
It is the force that wants to send out the thoughts and senses you have kept in your heart through speech, writing and skill.
In his 9 December 1971 interview on Canada's The Pierre Berton Show, he described the heart of martial arts as "honestly expressing yourself."

Where it missed

Showing only the hits would make this an advertisement, not evidence. Below are passages where the same reading was plainly wrong. In the text they are not hazed; they are marked with a dotted line.

M1
However, because of the Decline energy, you were more likely a child who quietly observed than one bursting with energy.
By 18 he had appeared in about 20 films as a child actor (including the lead in The Kid, 1950), and his childhood nickname was Mo Si Tung (無時停), "never sits still." He was far from a quiet observer.
M2
When conflict arises, rather than clashing head-on right away, you tend to first close your mouth and sort things out inside.
In 1964 in Oakland he accepted a challenge from the martial artist Wong Jack Man (黃澤民) and actually fought him. That is the opposite of avoiding conflict and swallowing it.
M3
it fits well with professions that handle wealth through law and numbers.
He never had anything to do with professions such as accounting, tax or real estate. His work was martial arts teacher, actor, director and producer.
M4
so strength goes into officially recognized study such as certificates, graduate school, and job training.
From age 25 (1964 on), the period the reading assigns to officially recognized study, he instead left the University of Washington without graduating and moved to Oakland. There is no record of him pursuing a degree or qualification afterwards.
M5
It becomes the first good window for a position to rise officially or for deciding to go independent.
The reading names the Sin-myo Luck Pillar from age 35 (1974) as the first window for independence, but he had run his own schools since 1963 and co-founded a production company in 1972, at 31.
M6
Filling a space with a calm melody suits you better than pouring out great energy on stage.
He won the Hong Kong cha-cha championship in 1958 and made his name on stage and screen with explosive movement, the opposite of quietly filling a space.

05What this report does not claim

This is a post-hoc comparison. We picked the passages that fit a life we already know. It does not mean that someone handed these eight characters in 1940 could have said he would become a martial arts teacher and then a world star through Hong Kong films.

Passages that miss are marked too. They are gathered at the end of section 04, and in the text they are left unhazed with a dotted line. The text also still contains statements unrelated to his life, such as ones about Korean tax accountants and certified public accountants, or promotion seasons in Korean workplaces.

Charts with the same structure are common. A chart with heavy Wealth stars and a visible Hurting Officer is not rare, and most people who have one became neither martial artists nor actors.

Health, death and private life are not covered. The passages in the text on those subjects carry no match marks. Using a real person's chart to discuss illness, death, marriage or family relationships has neither a basis nor any decency. He died in 1973 at 32, so the reading's Luck Pillars from age 45 on have no life to compare against, and those passages are marked neither as hits nor as misses.

The birth time sits close to a double-hour boundary. The birth data is rated Rodden AA on Astro-Databank, and both the birth certificate under his given name 李振藩 (Lee Jun Fan) and the earlier published birth data give 07:12. Even so, as section 02 shows, the margin is 14 minutes; if the record were off by 15 minutes or more, the hour pillar and the Three Wonders would disappear together. It is often said that he majored in philosophy at the University of Washington, but his official major was drama, so the fact table says only that he took philosophy courses.

What can be reproduced is the calculation. The time correction, the stems and branches, the Luck Pillar ages and the conditions under which each symbolic star applies: anyone using the same inputs gets the same results. What comes after that is interpretation.

OrientellerThe same engine reads your eight characters

The text above was not written specially for this page. It is exactly what Orienteller's in-depth reading produced when given one chart. The same engine takes a date, time and place of birth and writes to the same depth.

Before that, it gets the time right. It corrects for daylight saving time, longitude and the equation of time, judges the 節氣 (solar terms) in a separate frame, and tells you how many minutes remain to the nearest double-hour boundary. If one of the eight characters is wrong, the reading of the other seven goes wrong with it.

Saju is not a tool that tells a fixed future. It is an old language for reading the arrangement of a person's temperament and the grain of the times they move through. Orienteller's work is to translate that language accurately.
